Maxo & Tyler prob be in top ten for me. Wanted to like the Isaiah album more than I did but oh well.
Re: Griselda, I get it but it does it for me. It's probably since my gateway drug to rap was Wu-Tang and it's all basically rooted in/an evolution of that sound.
Conway and Benny's albums were pretty meh for me, westside really is just the best of the 3

Yeah none of them blew me away but I thought some of the other sounds Conway explored on La Maquina were pretty cool, Scatter Brain is great. If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed and Plugs I Met 2 were solid. Think TPIM2 would've been better received if it wasn't called that which set expectations pretty high. Easily agree on Westside being the best though.

I never liked him too much but I'm enjoying Aminé's last album, it's so fun. I don't think he has anything to say really but he's having fun with his voice and the beats are so bright, flirting with hyperpop at times even.

yeah I liked it a lot, doesn't have a Caroline or Reel It In level single but it was fun background music

Yeah, we obviously prefer completely different styles. Could never get into Tyler at all. I did enjoy some stuff off that Alchemist and Armand Hammer.
I know... if we all could only have your expert opinion in music we'd make the dopest lists I'm sure.
Also, posting 'lmao' knowing damn well you probably didn't even listen to any of those albums is pretty 'lmao' indeed.
imagine having AZ/Cole/Nas as your 1-2-3 in 2021
like dude im old and washed but im not THAT old and washed
Imagine judging something you've never heard before because the artist was "too old" for that year. Truly hilarious. Pls let me know at what point artists are no longer allowed to make any good music so I can update my future lists.
Also, excuse for not taking hip-hop input very seriously from someone who has Madlib as one of their top albums.
I didn’t even know there’s a Doe or Die 2. I’m slacking as a old head.
I thought it was pretty good. I've always been a AZ fan and the production was there for this one imo. I know he's not cool enough for these "old rapper suck" heads but I enjoyed it well enough.

who said i didn't listen to those albums?
also lol at you trying to establish your rap bonafides with "Madlib is bad, actually"

Bad? It's just literally fking noise half the time. But hey, more power to you. "It's 2021" and you're the expert.
And my guy, trust me, I have absolutely zero need to establish any rap bonafides with anyone on here, let alone you.

im the opposite, since i started listening to Griselda five years ago I can only handle Westside Gunn in small doses, whereas I find I enjoy Conway and Benny much more in general
the madlib album didn't really land with me, it sounded kinda cool but it was a bit too aimless
it owes a lot more to jazz than it does to hip hop, honestly. i've always liked his work but found him overrated, but i couldn't stop playing this one.

yeah it's definitely more jazz than hip hop, but it still feels weaker than some of the other jazz influenced releases i liked this year (Floating Points and co, Sons of Kemet)
