I've gotta meet up with a friend coming from virginia.....somewhere between manchester and chattanooga on I-24 is the plan......does anyone suggest any good spots??....i may have to wait several hours on him so i hope to entertain myself during the stay ;D
If you need to shop, there's an excellent 24 hr WallyMart in South Pittsburg, about 1/2 way between the two; but there's not a whole heckuva lot down there. (University of the South/Sewanee near Monteagle has a couple of good bars)
i just realized today a friend of mine is from chattanooga.....brilliant!!!!! ;D.......he highly recommended 'rock city' as a nice scenic layover.......i think that is what he called it......
Dude: Rock City is a ways off the Interstate on top of Lookout Mountain; but it is kitchy fun (mini golf was "invented" there, as Tom Thumb Golf); ride the Incline if you do go.
Better yet, tour the Raccoon Mountain or Nickajack dams
It's not that Rock City is far, it's just up -- a curvy two-lane road behind motorhomes bound for the same thing. Probably 40 minutes? You could also chill at the Aquarium in downtown Chatt. (it's as good if not better than Baltimore's).
The Capt. is correct: Tennessee-Alabama Fireworks is awesome!
thanks for the info......as of last night it looks like my plans are changing.......my buddy isnt gonna get to leave blacksburg til about 10pm thur night......so, i'm gonna drive straight to roo and set up camp on thursday morning......we'll just have to find each other at the show......hell that sounds like an adventure in itself ;D
