Seeing as you failed to respond to my last post, I've a few questions for you.
Firstly, what exactly is it about those artists that you think make me a hipster? Secondly, what makes someone a 'hipster band'? Is Tom Waits? Captain Beefheart? Pet Shop Boys? Future Of The Left? Kanye West? The reason I ask is Pitchfork favourite Mac DeMarco gets a lot praise on here, I haven't seen you accuse any of those of being a hipster. Is it just bands YOU haven't heard of? Don't forget, I've lived in the UK all my life and we have a very different relationship with music from those in North America.
Finally, what is with the passive aggressive behaviour? Were you not allowed to play out as a kid or something?
Many of these people are still trying to figure out their place in life. Don't take it personal, they're just stupid.
Is there anything more hipster than saying being born in a foreign country gives you a different (and impliedly superior) relationship with music than us Yanks?
In all seriousness, I think Snob was just being funny. Don't let the internet hurt your feelings.
Is there anything more ignorant than thinking the UK has no cultural difference to the US?
Is there anything more ignorant than misquoting someone while you quote them above?
Calm down man, go have some fish and chips, drink some bitter beers, and watch some guys kick a football around
I'm sorry my rising to a troll has derailed this thread.
All I meant by different relationship with music was there are things that happen that shape your environment that are beyond your control. The Ed Sullivan Show, John Peel, Glastonbury, Commercial Radio, BBC Radio, MTV etc. This changes the landscape. Not to mention the size of the countries. A 20 date UK tour will see you play every city. You might not leave the East Coast within 20 shows. A band can have a hit in the UK having been played to death on Radio 1 but with no exposure in the states might be perceived to be a hipster band. There are bands mentioned on this forum I've never heard of as they have no exposure in the UK. This doesn't make anyone here a hipster or a hick or any other derogatory label.
I think it is in everyone's interest we put this issue to bed.
If there's speculation for The Kills I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with Jack White after all... they're both playing Governor's Ball and with the White/Mosshart connection already it would be amazing.
Yeah...Isn't the Dead Weather about to come out with a new album?

I'll never understand why people go through so much effort for a fake poster. That looks like it took a lot of time.
And I love how the first image they posted PROVES it's a fake as it was just a screenshot of him making it in photoshop lol.
The ones Airline and I used to do were mostly just taking posters that weren't official Roo posters, throwing in some weird designs/images, and then just pasting his lineup. The real key was him making sure he had no typos.
Would love to see this posted to facebook for the reactions.
It's better if the first fake poster of the season is a bit more legitimate looking. Though I'm sure this would still fool some who don't know about fake posters.
