My friends and I are looking for a second festival since they are moving All Good out of Ohio (rumored). With this initial lineup its looking like this may happen for us. Plus being over Memorial Day Weekend I would only have to take one day off of work. What are some pros and cons of this fest?

I have never been, but as a local I will give a friendly warning to all who plan on going.....Just like at any festival local police presence on roads leading into Chillicothe is heavy. They will pull you over for anything. Be sure you're vehicle is in proper working order, you aren't speeding and all passengers are wearing their seatbelts....even in the backseat (Illinois law). Putnam county tends to be the worst. It's a tiny county, but they get a lot of revenue from ticketing/prosecuting traveling Scampers each year. I know this is all common sense and any seasoned festie would know these things.....just a reminder

Yes. I figured this was an implied pro, lol. Those two bands plus the three days of Umph are the primary reasons we are considering SummerCamp. Im talking more about camping, security, logistics and band overlap, overall vibes of the festival, etc.,
This Must Be the Band is a Talking Heads cover band, and they are legit. Old Shoe puts on their own small fest around Labor Day, they are mostly jam but will cover the Dead and Floyd. Henhouse Prowlers are traditional bluegrass and Chicago Farmer is a folk singer. Family Groove Co. is mostly jam that will cover almost anything at any given time. Brainchild might surprise you if you have never seen/heard them. As for the fest, I like the laid back security at the stages -- for camping we get a primitive RV pass and camp by our car. It's great. I've been going to Summercamp for almost 7 yrs now so it's hard for me to describe it to a new comer, but I will say play it cool and you will be able to get all the beer/booze etc in that you want. Just don't be captain obvious about it.

I have a question for past summer camp patrons.
My group and I are going to SummerCamp but we were not going to go for the pre-party because we all cant get the extra day off. We are making a 7.5 hr trip, and we planned on leaving Thursday Evening after everyone gets off work. I see that the gates open at 8 am on Friday for non-pre party pass holders. My question is can I buy a pre-party pass even if I am going to miss most of the events of that day? I would probably be arriving at like 1 a.m. Is there a certain time will they wont let you in even with a pre-pass? Because an extra 30 bucks seems like a good deal to cut the line and get a better spot/some rest before the Fest truly starts on Friday.
Anybody know when they'll release the rest of the lineup? When did they do it last year?
Well their twitter and facebook pages are posting things like "be our valentine on Friday, we have some great news" so I am hopeful that Friday will be the day they release the rest of the lineup.
I've never seen a more successfull undercover operation then at summercamp. STAY out of the forest. Other than that, its amazing. LOL @ zach brown band

I will be attending for the first time. Really don't know what to expect. I thought there would be more people talking about it on here, but there really doesn't seem to be many inforoosters attending. Just hope the weather is good, because I am looking to rage.

Unless I pick up a Sun tix, I'm not going. But, I'll be over there handbilling for Bonnaroo I was hoping a veteran could tell me about the wait/lines of cars, etc coming into the park. When will you be getting there?

I will be leaving after work on Thursday, I spent the extra $30 on the pre party pass so I can enter before the 8 a.m. opening on Friday morning. I will hopefully be getting there about 1 a.m. Thursday Night after a 9 hour drive. We are hoping that at that time there won't be that much craziness as far as getting into the venue.

Change of plans. I will be there, not camping though. I'll be working with Crescent Foods Fri-Sun mornings. Pretty sweet since that gives me plenty of time to roam

Had a great time this weekend at Summer Camp.
Pros: The police presence that everyone was talking about was basically nonexistent on my way in. The camping, it sucks lugging all your stuff from parking to camping, but once you are set up it is great. Some stages are right near you and it was no more than a 10 minute walk to any stage.
Cons: Only one - the dust. The whole place was a dust pit. Dirtiest fest I have ever been to and its not even close.
My Best Shows: Lotus Umphrey's (Friday Night) Trey Anastasio Band Orgone The Motet Lettuce

Glad to hear you saw no local law enforcement. It was hit or miss. When going over to work, I saw a heavy presence two times, the other time, not a one. I agree about the parking and lugging crap. It was soooo dusty. Now, imagine all that loose dust being turned into mud....I prefer dust

I did come into the fest at an unusual hour, so that could have been why the police weren't out in full force. We were able to get a festi-cab to lug all the stuff into the campsite, and it was worth the 20 bucks we gave the driver each time. The dust was just horrible. I know last year was a mud pit, but there is literally no grass just dirt in the whole park. They should think about planting some grass at the stages or something.
