I like how instead of having a screen name multiple times for snapchats, they made it similar to stories so you can view them under one screen name back to back.
Why'd they get rid of the times on the incoming snaps?!?! I liked knowing when they were sent. Especially for my local snap friends, we'd use it sometimes to make plans. It's actually kind of important to know if that martini snap was ten minutes ago (maybe I'll go join 'em for a drink?) or two hours ago and they're long gone already.

If you swipe right to go to the new chat option, and then swipe right again it'll say what time the snap was sent right next to "Hold to view" or whatever messages are there.

You can chat just like a normal chat thing without the video, so it's just like checking a text message

I have mixed feelings on the update... mine has a bunch of really old snaps at the end of the "outgoing" list that IDK where they came from... some are opened, some are unopened. One is from April 7th? IDK what that is all about... I also don't like the missing time stamp on the first page, it helps knowing that you can still see it by going to the "chat" function, but I liked being able to just look at it and know when it was sent. Idk, it's just weird...
I tested the chat thing with a friend last night, and apparently it deletes the received messages if you exit the chat. So she sent me a message, I backed out to look something up and when I came back her message was gone. Seems a bit pointless, they should stay for at least a little bit. For anyone who actually wants to use the chat function it's kinda inconvenient for the messages to keep deleting...

I know.. it's just sort of annoying. Mostly because if I'm conversing with someone via text and doing other things, I like being able to reference what was said already, so the disappearing text thing is a bit much. At least retain the text for like an hour or day like the stories thing... and if someone screenshots them or something notify the user like it does with pictures.. just to instantly disappear as soon as you leave the chat sucks.
With all of that being said I probably won't even use the chat function, lol.

I tried this out with a friend last week. Basically, you have to both be in the chat window at the same time, and the yellow snap button in the lower right will turn blue. This will allow you to do facetime-style chatting.
