For today, I'm going to start a song in my story. I'll do one line, then someone else pick up with the next, and so on. Put it in your story so we can all hear the beauty of your singing.
Choosing something easy: Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love." You should have time to sing your line completely in the snapchat limits.
Let's hear those voices!
Totally adding you to get in on this bidness (as well as a bunch of other people from the list who I haven't added yet).
krissyjo, I could have sworn my name was already up there - can you add me to the OP? I'm sleepyfiredrill... but you already knew that.
It's always been one of my favourite buildings in the world from an architectural standpoint - and then I did a research paper on it in college and really began to appreciate its history and the feats of engineering that went into it, too. And since moving back, it now holds countless great concert memories for me... just a shiny happy building on all fronts.
you live in austrailia? sweet! and where did that picture come from? guessing it's some sort of artists work just done on the picture. my favorite building that i've worked on personally here, which isn't a TON of buildings, is Beekman Tower in NYC. A beauty by frank ghery.
That is so cool! I have become a bit of an architecture nerd over the past couple years - I know nothing about the engineering side, but I'm really interested in the art of it all, and how buildings shape their cities and even impact the culture. It started when I stumbled upon a forum called Skyscraper City and found myself caught in a vortex of discussions hours later.
i snagged the picture from a Facebook page called Hirsty Photography, and it was taken during Vivid Festival, which is pretty much the only thing that helps curb my Bonnaroo FOMO. From late May to mid-June every year, there are crazy light projections and funky art installations all over the city (the company that does the lighting has also worked with Radiohead and the London Olympics, so it's really a top-notch citywide disco). The Opera House always books a handful of great acts in conjunction - previous years have featured Lou Reed, Kraftwerk, The Cure, and the Pixies; this year's acts include Morrissey, Sufjan Stevens, & TV on the Radio.
And being that this is the Snapchat thread, feel free to add me if you want to see it through my eyes in about 6 weeks' time.

Well, I heard she's going to be an artist addition. Just prepping ;p I'll probably just kick it off with her and do a Friday themed song or lyric part every Froday. That sounds like fun.

You should've done it while on your plane. You could've made the news.

Still in the sky! Using fancy wifi technology. Im just going to post a note w my snapchat in the bathroom, see who's up for bannaroo shenanigans. #Knightsinnmilehigh
I don't know Harry Potter, so didn't recognize a single quote.
Fix that or we can't be friends.
I've seen probably half the movies once, that's gotta count for something right?!
If the movies are on Netflix, I'll likely watch them when I get home from this well. Books I can't commit to just yet. Busy in the Dune series right now (only on book 2). But book 2 hasn't held me like the first did, so maybe I switch to HP. We'll have to see.

I suppose it's better than nothing. I'll accept it for now. But it's like a temporary license. You have to go get your real one within a certain amount of time or else this will expire.
I don't think the movies are on netflix though. But to be honest, I have never looked.

Consider me on my 6 month probationary period then!
^^this. I understood the glasses and lightning bolt, so partial credit?
I need more Token lip-syncing to dramatic music in my life.
Tolkien, now there's some fantasy I can get behind!
Harry Potter wasn't bad - I read the first three(?) books and saw the first three movies and enjoyed them enough - but by the time the fourth one came around, I was getting into more "serious" literature, so they took a backseat and I just never picked them up again. That's also when they went from digestible 300-page novels, to big-ass cinder blocks useful for defending against home intruders. I still have no idea what happens after Book #3 except that Snape murks Dumbeldore (but not really), and the redheaded one shacks up with Emma Watson, granting false hope to schnerdy gingers everywhere.
For 10 years, my views on LOTR were like Randall's from Clerks II, until I mentioned to my bandmate in passing one night I'd never seen any of them. He promptly sat my ass down and marathoned the extended versions until we passed out halfway through Two Towers. I always just thought it was 12 hours of a bunch of elves wandering through a forest to destroy some stupid piece of jewellery; nobody ever mentioned all them dragons and orcs and shiz.
This week's song is "Take Me To Church." I really want to see who gets the "Aaaaaaammmmeeeeeen" portion.
Remember to post your portion in the "My Story" section so everyone can hear you beautiful voice. You don't have to be in the same key, and we will likely get several people doing the same line. Who cares? Not this guy.
@rothric, start drinking. And, it's a looooonnnnnggggg day. You can hit the last lines late tonight.
Oh, and bonus points if you look sad, or like you need a hug.

I need songs I know/like. I feel all left outs.
Sorry. Maybe we can open up future weeks to a vote or selection process. Last week, I went with a classic that I thought everyone would know. token07 was the only singer to join me, I think. So, this week I went with someone who will be at Bonnaroo this year. The lyrics are google-able. And the video is right down there.
Oh, and shout out to bomberoo for the first sing-along of the week.

A while back, it seemed that Thursday Karaoke was a thing. People would sing along with their radio/stream in the car. Some were more prolific than others, but, @davemaynar hasn't blessed us in a while. Maybe because Tay Tay pulled her stuff off Spotify. I don't know.
This was just an attempt to restart it as a group activity, rather than just the random American Idol audition.
