Wow that is one of my favorite of their newer songs. LOVE it live!
Okay well to be fair, I don't believe I've heard it live. Also, I can understand how other Avett fans really enjoy it. It's just not my style and I prefer so many of their other songs over that one. Like, probably all of them. Meh, to each his own. It's nice to get so much feedback; most of my own friends are with me on this one. I like the variety here. ;-)
I have to agree with dreamingtree and warpedfan on this. I wish more of their new songs had that kind of edge. On the other hand, I have to skip "Winter In My Heart" every time. I just think the lyrics are so corny.

I dont like Winter in my Heart either and honestly, I do like the idea of edgier songs; I just dont like that particular one.
Black Metal - MMJ. I have damn nearly very one of their albums on my IPhone and this is the only song of theirs that I skip when it comes on. It's not that bad live, though.

Lady Dada's Nightmare - MGMT
I actually really enjoy all of MGMT's albums but I get no enjoyment from this song. I don't know if it's screaming or a baby crying or what's going on in that song.
I have something to contribute to this thread, but the song is so bad i've blocked it out all together. I'll revisit if I can think of the song name...

This song, along with Evil Urges and Highly Suspicious were bad ideas on paper, weak spots on records, but still crazy kitchy live.
I was really disappointed they didn't come a little cleaner from the start though, about Metal being a borrowed cover/reinterpretation. Jim being such the national sweetheart and an honest man an' all...

the original song writing credit is in the album linear notes and everything. Plus they shared the original version of the song on their facebook before and after the album came out. What more do they need to do.
Also ftr on my I'm Amazed opinion I'm pretty sure I liked the song the first time i heard it, but I've probably seen it played 20+ times now and it is exactly the same thing every single time.

I'm a fan of Evil Urges, not my favorite but it's not bad imo.

Also... Bob Dylan has had a ton of stinkers. We kinda sorta ignore The Clash's last album for a good reason. And let's forget that Weezer have been a band for the past 8 years.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Fun fact: I got to drive John Darnielle around a couple years ago - dude fucking LOVES candy.

tell me more.
I've worked in booking the past few years for a local music festival that they headlined in 2012 or 2011 and I drove John and one of the other guys in the band from the square where the festival was to their hotel. As soon as he got in and introduced himself and stuff he just started going on and on. "Hey man, have you been to that candy shop on the square?" "Yeah dude, it's pretty cool." Then he turned to his bandmate and told him they had to go back later on that night before their set. Then he talked a little bit about some of the other bands he'd like to see but wouldn't be able to because they had to fly out early the next day. That's pretty much the extent of my interaction with him.
I think he also said my shitty beat up grand cherokee was badass too, but that may have been danny brown.

There was a conversation on this one earlier, but "Paul Newman vs. the Demon" by the Avett Brothers definitely makes my list. Last time I saw them live, it was the only song with a noticeable dip in audience enthusiasm.
"Let's Be Still" by The Head and the Heart isn't horrible, but I find it really boring
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
