Flaming Lips are there but no Julian. This was such an awesome night but now Im annoyed about Julian, hes literally the only musician they mentioned not on the lineup and he was mentioned twice. Weird.
I thought it was an excellent show but lots of people bitched about The Strokes set not playing their full allotted time a couple years ago. Maybe there's some kind of inside joke in the AC/Superfly offices having to do with Julian's intoxicated, primadonna tendencies or something? Julian = Kanye 2.0?
A$AP Rosko - how did it go at your store? Give us a rundown with some details when ya can.
It was awesome. Store was insanely packed, we ran out of shirts in about 15 minutes (and we had a whole huge box of them), people were pumped, and it was a great time. Hearing people loudly cheer as the names were announced was pretty special. Definitely the best lineup drop I've been a part of by a million, billion miles. Loudest cheers in the store were for The Avett Bros (hometown faves), Cake (surprisingly), Skrillex, and Jack White. Kanye was about 60% cheers/40% boos and "fuck Kanye"s. Dan'ROO was also there, I'd love to hear what he thought of the event.
I'm going to write our contact from AC tomorrow and let them know how well it went and to let them know they should do it this same way next year, as I think they've finally found the best way to release the lineup while maximizing buzz.
They're giving the answers on bonnaroo radio...at 1 am. I'll try to stay up and listen to post them in a new thread, but hopefully someone else does, because fuck work at 6am.
Did you see the kid in the black Outkast tshirt attempting to film the crowd when Kanye got announced?
Were you with the group that the one guy kept screaming "fuck Kanye?" I saw one guy filming with them
Nah I dont believe so. I went literally right to the right of the projector and stuck my phone out but it I was surprised I didnt get better footage. Wasn't a heavy negative reaction. I saw two kids get really excited about kanye up close and I figured youd be one of them but I guess not.

I really dug the atmosphere of Schoolkids tonight! It was cool seein' a bunch of people in a small area excited about 'Roo in my local area. Thankfully I ran into purplefuzzystuff, her friend Samantha, and two other cool cats. Reminiscin' 'bout past 'Roos and excitement over new experiences was great! That aside, the atmosphere was really cool once things started gettin' goin'. I'd hope if they do it similar again to have more T-shirts and little giveaways. This dude gives a thumb and a half up! Only because I wasn't made aware it was a BYOB affair.

The Knoxville one wasn't packed, but I am pretty sure the Disc Exchange is a bit bigger than Schoolkids. There was a definite upswing of people from about 815-845 when it got closer to the actual lineup announcement. We had a great time hanging out in the parking lot before hand with some others from Inforoo like jove, Adultishgambino and NotMitchelBade. In a similar fashion, they ran out of shirts pretty quickly, but all of us were able to get one since we were there early. It was interesting to see who got a reaction from the crowd and who didn't. When Classixx popped up, for example, I thought of how many people from inforoo would be pumped, but there was pretty much dead silence there. Like Raleigh, Cake got a pretty big reaction as did Lionel Richie and Elton John. With the rapid way they put out names, it was sometimes hard to tell who the actual reaction was for. Regarding Kanye, I would put Knoxville at either 60/40 or 70/30 positive/negative. Some of the negative reactions (including some of ours) seemed to more playing around than actual dislike of him being there. Like A$AP Rosko, I was really pleased with this lineup announcement and would be totally happy if they continued it next year.
My morning-after thoughts remain pretty psyched about this lineup. I'm really interested to see the scheduling as there's a lot they can do differently this year, should be interesting. The EDM Superjam has a lot of potential...gonna check that out for sure.
If you didn't see the Bluegrass Superjam last year it was great. Ed Helms was perfect and it was a nice, chill set on Sunday. Regarding Kanye, there's no doubt the What field is gonna be packed and it's going to be an amazing show. Really looking forward to that.
Got my lineup playlist ready, gonna try to make a dent in some of the new stuff this afternoon
Hats off to AC/Superfly, this was by far the best lineup announcement that I've ever seen. They should absolutely keep this format for next year. Can I just say I love Hannibal Burress?
On a fun, crazy note. Anyone remember the fan submission song, "Pancakes As Big As Your Head"? It was submitted by one of my 'roo buddies, Angela Jane! I was so shocked to see her name up there, can't even imagine how she felt! She had no idea the FLips and Ben Folds were going to use her lyrics, she just got a tweet from Bonnaroo saying they liked her lyrics. It would have been cool enough just to have your name on screen like that, but the shout out from Ben Folds was even better!
Background for the lyrics: Back in '04, as she was meandering the campground, she stumbled upon some kind people selling pancakes for breakfast. Their sign read "Pancakes As Big As Your Head!" and I guess it just stuck with her as one of those Bonnaroo memories.
I did like the BLAM party here in NYC in general. They had issue with the connection fpr the video because a lot of people were using the same wi-fi connection. They also didn't have any t-shirt or ticket giveways.
True. It is on a running loop for those who have the Bonnaroo app on their Xbox.
Also, I think the viewing parties were a great idea. Personally, I couldn't make one, but I have a number of friends who went and it sounds like a good time. My brother and his girlfriend got t-shirts. I haven't seen them yet, but I'm totally jelly.
