At the ferris wheel entrance, before a true line really forms, just look alive and you can save a lot of time. A huge chunk of the crowd can shift sometimes, while people just stand around drinking beers and talking and high fiving and commenting on my ween shirt, instead of moving forward. I just slip forward into the massive gaps that form.
I despise line cutting but don't consider this line cutting. Course this is much easier when you're solo, trying to finagle a group to look alive is harder.

Last year was my first roo, so I can't really compare the wait to previous years. I actually didn't have much difficulty getting in. Maybe 2 or 3 times my wait was longer than 30 minutes. I always went in near the cuckoo clock (which was a 5 min walk from my tent in the opposite direction of the arch). I frequently went in and out of centeroo and never really felt like my wait was an unbearably long time.

Is that entrance open to everyone, every year? Last year I got the vibe that it was just for handicapped and locker people.

Lookin' at it from outside Centeroo the ferris wheel entrance is on your right. There is a handicap entrance toward the left.

Rick Farman is on it guys, don't worry.
From the AMA:
I don't blame you for being frustrated about this. I've been really disappointed in this myself, particularly the backup last year. It's something we can do better and we're working towards that. We assigned a team internally to focus on this. PArt of the problem is just sheer volume at those peak times when everyone wants to enter but we already have a few fixes we feel confident will improve the situation. - RF
I usually head to centeroo around 1-2 PM and don't have issues. No clue what all of you are complaining about. It's 100,000 people, what do you expect?

The handicapped access entrance is a tiny one next to the other GA entrance. It's across from the clock tower/general store area.
They may be a buzzkill but once your through the checks, you completely forget about it.
Unless the wait causes you to miss the show you were trying to see Unfortunately it's happened more then once to me when I've been stuck in line for more then an hour.
I understand the checks are for the "safety" of the guests (but let's be real, I think they're more about forcing you to buy beer inside, with safety being a nice bonus...but that's beside the point). When the line stretches for half a mile down the fence, it's time to make a few changes to expedite the situation.
I think a big problem is lack of consistency between the security checkers. When I get up to the front, I stand back for a minute to see which people are going overboard with their searches. This helps speed up the last 5% of the wait for me, but it doesn't take care of the big picture. Some of the checkers must be on a major power trip sometimes. I've had them go through LITERALLY EVERY POCKET in my backpack, including my wallet. There is absolutely no need for that type of scrutiny.
In regards to needing more people to man the lines, it really wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's not like they'd need the extra staff the entire time, just the peak hours. If they had a flexible workforce, they could direct the labor to where it's needed, when it's needed. And they know exactly when it's needed, thanks to the RFID bracelets. When they don't need the extra people at the gates, you could have them do any number of other tasks. I know they could come up with something for them to do.
Whatever happens, I hope they figure something out to combat the situation. I remember in the past when it was possible to go back to your campsite for a quick refresher if you wanted, know you need to have a 3 hour block of free time to make it happen if you want to make sure you're back in Centeroo for a show.

Maybe its time you cut off your dreads and take a shower.
Ya, that time was one of the few I didn't screen the checkers before picking a line. I learned from that mistake!
I've found what works best is to just walk up to them with your bag open and waiting. Act like you have nothing to hide, and usually you won't have an issue!

From my experience peak times seem to be around noon, then around 5 at night until the headliner plays at like 10 at night...I'm not the best source of info though since my tactic is to always go into centeroo immediately after I eat breakfast in the morning, and stay there all day until I'm ready to go to sleep at my site at night.
As far as avoiding "peak times"...what are the peak times?
Thursday 12pm-whenever. It's still changin' as more people show up earlier. I'd say around 6-8pm is the second peak.
Friday-Saturday 12pm, then I haven't noticed much congestion until the late afternoon. Usually before the pre-headliner and definitely before the headliner! I never noticed much of a line to get back in fer the LNs.
Sunday I've only really noticed lines in the early afternoon, maybe 1-2pm, but they were never all that bad.
You guys think the sale of day passes has anything to do with this? I was there in '12 and never remember waiting more than 15 minutes. I think that was the last year there weren't day passes. Correct me if in wrong on that.

I believe day passes were only sold for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The only time I had deal with any lines was Thursday, then it was smooth pretty much the rest of the weekend. Seems a few others share the same experience.
I was very surprised by the lines last year. The year previous the line pretty much continually flowed through the arch without and waiting at all until you got to the booths, and it was like that all weekend. Last year I went in on Thursday expecting the same, and ended up missing the first half of twenty one pilots because there was a 45-minute wait. At times the line for the BFE entrance was even worse. I'll definitely be planning further ahead this year.

I could be off on this, but wasn't last year the first year they had separate lines for people with bags and those without? Perhaps this could be part of the issue as well.
Last year I never entered through the big arch... I was camped by the clocktower, and only used the main entrance by Other... never had a wait longer than 20 minutes- usually only 5-10 minutes... before noon there was no wait (the porto's by Other were always cleaned before my campsite's (and were closer), so my mornings included an early trip to Centeroo).
