Heading up from Coral Springs early June 10th. Plan on crashing for the night in Tennessee and ready for VIP Thursday morning.
Same here! We've always crashed at a friend's house the night before Roo in ATL but that isn't going to work out this year. I've been trying to figure out where is the best place to make a hotel reservation. Seems like ATL is pricey. Any suggestions?

Probably going to find a Best Western or something along the route. Going to try to stay within 10 minutes of Bonnaroo so I can just wake up Thursday morning and drive right into VIP.

This is my 9th Bonnaroo this year, going VIP. I've gone to Bonnaroo from Florida (Gainesville or Orlando) about 5 times.
Two important facts to know for this:
1. Chattanooga is 1 hour from Roo 2. There is a 1 hour time difference from Chattanooga to Roo
So this means that the hour you drive from Chatt to Roo doesn't affect your timing, since you will arrive at Bonnaroo the same time you left Chatt. (if you left 8am from Chatt you will arrive 8am at roo)
Drive to Chattanooga and stay the night near Lookout Mountain
Wake up Thursday morning and go to Chatt Walmart for last minute forgotten packing
Drive 1 hour to Roo
Arrive early, with good sleep and plenty of excitement
I forgot to mention, the reason I choose Chattanooga and not Monteagle is because Chattanooga is such a beautiful town, surrounded by small mountains and a winding river. It's absolutely beautiful and worth $10 more for a hotel to experience.
With that said, Monteagle is also a good option and slightly cheaper, but not as aesthetically pleasing.

Oh trust me I know. This will be my 4th year at Roo, second time VIP. I ALWAYS stay at the Chattanoogan hotel on the way home from Roo. I usually leave sometime on Sunday and drive right there. The town is so nice and quiet, a nice change from the weekend. That hotel is amazing though. It's super nice and clean and the room service food was outstanding.
This time, however, I think I will be staying in Monteagle Wednesday night. I hate that VIP can't enter Wednesday and have to wait until Thursday morning. I just want to be close to Roo for the morning drive in. Monteagle is only 20 minutes away.
I'm going to have to pass on The Chattanoogan hotel this time around though because I want to stay at Bonnaroo until Monday morning and drive half way home to South Florida before stopping at a hotel. I'm thinking Macon, GA.

That's a good game plan. I will be staying in Chattanooga Wednesday night and Monday night. Have you stayed in Monteagle before? I really, really like the fact that it's only 20 mins away but I just love Chatt so much.
Maybe I will stay in Monteagle Wednesday night, and Chatt Monday night.
Nice to see fellow Floridian VIPs! I will be going with my girlfriend, Gretchen, this year. Hope to see you at the farm!

BTW (sorry for the double posts) I have stayed in Macon on one drive back from the farm, and it was nice. I believe we stayed in a Super 8 or something of the sort for just under $60. Nice clean, quiet town. I would recommend it for sure.

This will be my first time staying in Monteagle. Anywhere good to eat or drink I should know about? I plan on getting there Wednesday evening around 3 or 4PM to relax and get ready for the weekend. If we happen to camp next to or run into each other in VIP camp, my name is A.J. and I'll be there with my wife.

Thank you for so much great advice! This is our fourth year, third in VIP. The first year we did RV. I know exactly where you are talking about from the previous years' drives. I wish we had the time to stay overnight somewhere on Monday, too. That drive straight through on Monday is always brutal. It's exciting to chat with other Florida people. Maybe we'll see run into each other there!

I'm going to start doing some research to check Monteagle and Chatt out now. Making plans is making me even more anxious for the farm! I can't wait.
It would be great if we could all meet up somewhere before driving in (Florida caravan style). This is my 4th VIP, so I'm super excited to meet other Floridians and hang out on the farm. My girlfriend and I are still considering Sparklefart but have yet to commit.

That FL caravan idea is pretty awesome! I hail from Gainesville lol

I have to admit I was totally arrogant as to what a Sparklefart was, but thanks to the magic of Google I am now informed. I think that sounds really, really cool. One thing I always heard about Roo was that vibe in GA, but I've never experienced that. The first year we did RV and then VIP the two subsequent years. Meeting cool people and getting to know folks at the camp is something I've been missing. Did you decide yet if you plan to join in on that?
I haven't yet but I was honestly re-looking at that thread since it was updated. I'm leaning towards doing it, maybe we can talk each other into it. Are you going with a group or just plus one?

This is 4th Roo for us too.
My kid is a Gator, but she is heading up from St Johns with me.
We can considering meeting @i-10 and I-75 WED.
We are still putting together who is in truck with us vs other cars. Each year our locals grow, come and go.
We have a core group.
Best good meal before the last push is Bea's in Chattanooga we meet up with others there every year.

Thanks for the info Gregg. I just booked a room in Chattanooga for wednesday. Really looking forwards to not be driving straight through this year. Waking up rested on thursday just outside of Roo will be priceless. The time zone change in the morning will really help as well!

No problem at all, my pleasure. I actually booked a room in Monteagle this year, trying something new. I'll be staying in Chattanooga on Monday night, waking up on the farm Monday morning and driving an hour just to relax, wind down, and talk about everything before making the 7 hour drive back home. Are you in VIP or GA?
Right now it is just my brother and I. We could have a couple more, but it's looking like it will be just the two of us. I think we are definitely interested, but the early morning meet time is turning me off a little. We usually get to the farm just before lunch on Thursday. 9 am is pretty early. However, if we stay in Chattanooga, we'll be closer than we usually are.
Hey! My Girlfriend and I are driving up from the Tampa Bay area. She has never been to a Festival before and is extremely excited, also this is both our first time at Bonnaroo. I think we are planning a stop in ATL for Lunch on Wednesday and hopefully getting in line early enough for the Tent only land grab. T-Minus 2 months....
You're not going to be early for the land grab in TO if you'll be lunching in ATL. Get to Manchester and grab some lunch in town before 1-2PM then get your butt in line. They say gates open at 7-8 PM on the website but it has never been that late on a Wednesday. I usually have my camp set up by 6 PM, latest.

Save yourself a few dollars by going a couple exits further down 75 and stay in Warner Robins. It's about 5 hours from Bonnaroo (I used to live there so I've made the trip up and back a couple times). Also on the way up Kimball, TN is a great place to stop off outside of Chatt.

This is my first year going VIP and me and my girlfriend are tagging along with the Sparklefart crew. I read you were thinking of joining. We knew we would meet people we were camped by but figured it would be even better to camp along some like minded people here on inforoo.
I'm coming from Gainesville and this year will be my first Roo. As of right now I really don't have anyone coming with me from here, but I will be meeting up with some friends closer to Tennessee. Hopefully I can find someone who wants to go with because I hate driving alone.

So now that my husband is most likely coming with me I'm starting to get my travel plans in shape. We'll most likely be leaving Jacksonville at 4 AM on Wednesday which puts us at the I-10/I-75 area at around 5:15 AM. If anyone wants to caravan at that time in the morning we'd be happy to meet up.
EDIT: This puts us in Manchester just after noon central time, FYI.
I'm from Gainesville and my friend is from Orlando. We're wanting to go up the 8th (Tuesday), because we're both during-show volunteers. Anyone want to carpool?

Is there anyone that's going to be leaving on Sunday after the fest that has room in the car for one more? I'm not sure if I'm going this year but I'd like to have this lined up in case I do
Driving from Ocala Florida! Cannot wait!!'!! This is my first year to bonnaroo so I need to know how early to show up?? I know the gates open at 8 but I wasn't sure what's a good time to get in??

Hi Ocala,
St Aug here. We normally get there, into the Wed. line up between 9-10pm local time. All depends how long to get to your campsite averages 2 hours. Depends which gate they direct you to. This is our 4th year. Friends on inforoo say they get to the farm @4pm and get in quickly and usually the west gates opens by 6pm. Reality is just make sure you get in line on I24 before 4am WED/Thurs morning and you should be fine. Long ride from here so plan what time you are hitting Atlanta, the area always sucks.
Welcome to Roo and the farm, have a great Bonnarooooooooooooooo!
