To answer your last question first, I don't know that he is a nice guy per se, but his online demeanor--as well as all those who commented after him--is nice enough, at least as far as this thread is concerned. To answer your first question, generally speaking, suddenly showing up in a thread using extreme negative superlatives to describe a band that everyone is excited about is definitely not a positive way to express your differing opinion. I mean, really, are they honestly the WORST band you've ever heard? I seriously doubt it, but the fact that you clearly felt the need to describe them that way communicates (to me at least) an egotistical cry out for attention, as opposed to a desire for good natured debate. Make sense?
i wasnt looking for a good natured debate.
let me explain. if i came in the thread and said 'this is the best band i have ever heard' then what would i have contributed? pretty much the exact same level of contribution as 'the worst band ive ever heard,' only from a perspective that more closely matches your own.
yet you wouldnt care, because i would be validating your opinion.
i didnt insult anyone personally. i didnt say you all have wretched taste or that only a limpbrained mongrel could enjoy this act.
i merely stated my personal dislike for them. no different than if i had chimed in 'they are great' without contributing further.

Actually, saying something like "this is the worst band I've ever heard" implies insult to someone's taste & intelligence who thinks they are good. And if someone were to post something positive about them it follows in the spirit of the thread, as opposed to souring it.
But that said, I think at this point it would be best to respectfully disagree about it & move on. I hope you have fun at the farm, our differences aside

do you believe that the 'spirit of the thread' as positivity applies to any thread about any musical act here? people dont usually start threads for acts they arent excited about.
just wondering if you will criticise everyone in every thread who states a dislike of the band for which the thread is named or simply this one.
also simply noting that a band is terrible in my opinion does not equate to a personal attack. i am able to separate the music i enjoy and the concerts i attend from such things as i understand that people like many different things for different reasons.

Actually, I've been reading around this for a couple of weeks & your comment was the only one that I found offensive, for reasons already stated. Have fun on the farm, I'm out!
again, just because i think a band is terrible doesnt mean im negative.
i hope you all enjoy your slightly stoopid concert. i will wave to you as i walk from damon albarn to phosphorescent.
Haha I am actually showing up late to slightly stoopid to see all of Damon albarn. I didn't even realize he was playing until this week & I'm super excited!! One of my faves, actually. So I guess I'll see you there!
Well, I'm excited about Ice Cube so I thought when I saw a gif with him it was fitting. But in hindsight I guess I can see how it could be construed as offensive despite it's idiomatic value. In any case, I was just trying to laugh off your offensive comments without any further drama. My bad for picking the wrong gif.
That said, I don't like your assumption that I am automatically trying to fuck some guy whose douchey comment bothered me in a thread. It seems pretty sexist & even misogynistic to me, especially given that you don't even know me. If you did, you would know that I would never fuck some random guy, especially one with a handle like his. Plus, I have a boyfriend of three years & am generally not interested in anyone but him that way.
But yeah, I am finished with this nonsense. I wish I had never said anything at this point.
