4 FESTIVAL TOUR BEING PLANNED and looking for “tour mates”!!
Governors Ball Music Festival (6/6 – New York, NY) Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival (6/11 – Manchester, TN) Firefly Music Festival (6/18 – Dover, DE) Electric Forest (6/26 – Rothbury, MI)
I’m relatively well known and connected on the music festival circuit (and NOT just because of the Black Lily/Shonda LEGEND!) and hoping to find people who have the very unique combination of having a flexible schedule (whole month of June, pretty much!) and resources (yes: $) to join me for what’s sure to be the music festival ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME.
We’ll be travelling in my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-door, and my new 2014 R-Pod 182G (which has EVERYTHING we could POSSIBLY need – at a festival or on the road – our home away from home!). In between parties, we’d be stopping by here and there to meet with some festival friends along the way, possibly even joining other crews. Travel Expenses are to be shared and split between however many people are on whichever particular leg of the tour (this includes gas, tolls & RV campsites). Ideally, I would LOVE to have 3 others to do the entire stretch with me, but in reality, it might be just me and another for one part, or maybe just me and two others for another. I am 100% open to have a rotating cast of characters for the journey, though.
If you are interested in getting onboard, for the entire tour or even just a portion of it (as in: need a ride from one festival to another), by all means…shoot me a message on FaceBook (https://www.facebook.com/charmingfrog) or email (riksmaximus@yahoo.com) and we’ll discuss more details (I’ll be checking my “other box” on FB as well). Hope everyone has a DYNAMITE festival season in 2014!! I know I will! Mucho <3 to you all

Thank you! Been wanting to get something for quite some time now. Drove all the way from New Hampshire to Michigan to get her this past December. She's not cheap to tow, that is for sure! But I mean...hey. It's like a hotel room on wheels. Sleeps 4. And the back area? They call it "The Garage". Hatch opens up like a spaceship door. Has a big built in cooler, HUGE sink with hot & cold water, TV, soundsystem. Although I was pretty much in love with her the first time I saw pics, The Garage is what truly sold me. Cool lil party/entertainment zone

Lesson was learned. Get the financial end of things up front. Get a load of the BALL OF SUNSHINE IAMTHEHORN is. You must be a BARREL OF MONKEYS to hang out with...
5/14 - Hangout Festival (Gulf Shores, AL) 5/23 - Strange Creek (Greenfield, MA) 6/06 - Governor’s Ball (New York, NY) 6/11 - Bonnaroo (Manchester, TN) 6/18 - FireFly Festival (Dover, DE) 6/26 - Electric Forest (Rothbury, MI) 8/31 - Gathering Of The Vibes (Bridgeport, CT) 9/05 - Catskill Chill (Hancock, NY) 9/12 - Wormtown (Greenfield, MA)
Just drop it off on the side of the road on 125th and walk over the Triboro. No one will fuck with your stuff.
He can't be the first dude ever to roll into NYC with a trailer. There's gotta be some place he can park it. Too bad there's no one from NYC around to help him out.
The job I worked this past summer we had to pull around a huge trailer all around the city. It was about as fun as it sounds.

Most people don't stroll into NYC equipped to take on the Rocky Mountains, though. You pass through on major highways.
I would love to see what a parking garage/lot would charge for a weekend to house that. I would say easily $500.

We never had to park the trailer in a lot, but we did have to find an open air lot close to Herald Square for our 26 foot box truck. I think they took us for about 1400 for 36 hours.
Orrrr just find a spot near a subway line/LIRR/Metro North and train it in each day (or unhitch and drive the jeep each day). He never said he was trying to bring the trailer into the city- just that he plans to be at Govs Ball.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Parking next to a subway line isn't practical. Parking out of the city and coming in each day is, but it's also costly, you pay for parking at those places too (hourly, nowhere near the city prices, though) and from experience taking a MN train after Gov Ball is like one of those videos you see of trains in India with people hanging off the front.
It's definitely a better plan than driving it into the city, but still has some kinks to work out.
The idea of going into the actual city with that thing has disaster written all over it.

I agree, I would neeever do it either. The amount of time it would take to get there via public transport from within the boroughs is crazy enough. That being said, besides tons of time it wouldn't be that crazy more money. If he goes out a few stops in any direction, I'm sure he can find a Walmart, Stop & Shop, etc. that has free, overnight parking.

Eh, I'd hesitate to just assume Westchester/Long Island Walmarts would just let you live in their parking lots. Those are some bougie places sometimes.
The best bet would be to find a cheap hotel in one of the outer boroughs or something that has a parking lot that you can use, I think.

Agree, or a cheaper campground in western NJ to leave the trailer and drive to path/NJ transit train or to city.

No problem, IAMTHEHORN. The way the Shonda thread spun out of control at the end, into me being a villain, it was hard to decipher if your comment was just good natured ribbing, without a or a "Haaaaa!" attached to it...
PROBLEM DOG. No...not so much like a drug dealer. More about the fact that I am big & ugly...easily recognizable. And I get around. I am a VERY friendly cat, and not afraid to start a conversation with ANYONE. Kinda stick out like a sore thumb. But I think in a good way. I'm often times in a questionable state of mind when I meet people, so I don't remember them all when they randomly come up to me at a later time and say: "Riki Jeeeeee!! How you been, man!?" But for whatever reason...they remember me. Also, I've got a festival group on FaceBook called RIKI JEE'S KALOOPAHGROOP. I created it in essence to keep all the AMAZING PEOPLE I meet out on the festival playfield connected. It has been a MOST POWERFUL TOOL in ensuring I am ABSOLUTELY surrounded by THE BEST people to party with...no matter what part of the country I happen to be in. Climbing up on 800 members now, from all over the place. 90% of whom I have met and partied with in the really REAL world (there are a few stragglers and friends of friends I haven't met. YET!)
Where to park the rig IS an issue, honestly. And I do appreciate your suggestions...so thank you. I have a coupla options, they just aren't ideal. One is parking at a friends place about an hour away...which will kinda put a damper on the PARTY LEVEL I can go to. So...it's up in the air. I think I'd be a little freaked out parking it ANYWHERE in the city. Another damper would be arriving back at the place where I parked the R-Pod after the live music wraps up...and finding it wasn't there any longer :)I'm actually wondering if doing the Walmart thing maybe in NJ might be an option...and maybe taking the subway closer to Randall's Island...
