So I just got a ticket to roo from my parents for graduation and I'm super stoked I've wanted to go for years. The only problem is I'm riding down with a guy friend but I'm sure as soon as he gets there he will be doing his own thing and none of my other friends are into this kind of thing. So I'm basically going alone. Being an 18 year old girl I'm a little skeptical. Do you think its safe? Is anyone else going alone?
I'm not a female, but I have never felt even remotely in danger while at Roo. Just make sure you don't get so impaired that you aren't in control of yourself. And thousands of people have gone alone to Roo before. You certainly won't be the first nor the last. Good luck, and congrats on having such cool parents.

I am going alone. I have never been to Roo but I have been to other festivals alone and it wasnt bad at all. I'm a guy though. I'm sure you will be fine as long as you are responsible. Maybe as it gets closer we can organize some type of meetup for people going alone.
Seems like a lot of people on the board are going solo this year (including myself). As a fellow lady, don't fear, you won't feel unsafe. Just don't put yourself in any stupid situations if you are doing things on your own. I'm sure the experience will be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll have fun, solo or not!
My guy and I always do our own thing once we get there since we have opposite festival agendas. We only catch each other at camp every now and then and usually only see one show together the entire time. I love it. He experiences the fest the way he wants to (party first) and I experience it the way I want to (music first). I can see the shows I want, eat the food I want, nap when I want, explore when I want, and I'm only responsible for my own fun. Compliments can make friends quickly so you never really feel alone, even if the friends change after every band. And I've never, ever, felt unsafe.

This is exactly how me and my friend did it last year! I always liked waking up at camp in the morning and sharing our separate experiences from the day before.

No one is really alone at Bonnaroo.
As far as safety, you're essentially going into a gated community that requires a $300 entrance fee. If corn were caviar, 'roo would be yacht club. The biggest danger at 'Roo is yourself. Stay hydrated, stay away from unfamiliar party favors, don't do anything you wouldn't do if you were out camping in the woods for 5-days.
I went alone last year. I camped at group camping. I never felt unsafe. You do have to take the same precautions as you were home. I didn't drink, do drugs and tried to walk back when there were several people walking back or hailed a cab. Oh, I am 35. Send me a message if you have any questions
