I'm just going to go on & put this here. All of this has just devastated me. And I mean that. Some of my favorite posters are not on here anymore, either by choice or not, and that makes me incredibly sad. These past two weeks have sucked big time. But I'm sorry, @jonesjupiter, but I don't feel like there is a witch hunt underway. Maybe I just want to see the good in everyone, but I don't believe that the mods just got together & decided for shits & giggles to do this. I really don't. I don't wish for second for their responsibility, because it's damn too easy to blame them for all the things we don't like, not giving them credit for the things we do like. Call me naive, call me stupid. But know I am hurting over all of this.
Do we want a more boring, less interesting forum? Keep it up, guys. We're well on our way.
It's very easy to call people out or be provocative without resorting to extreme vulgarities. Look at iamthehorn...he managed to get RJ to rage-quit simply by quoting back RJ's own posts.
As much as the mods deny it, I think the directed use of slurs/vulgarities is a huge reason why Flanzo got suspended. Plenty of people call out the mods or other posters without getting suspended. But its pretty clear to me that Flanzo crossed the line with certain language that he used. And its not just the language he used, but the intent and way in which he used it.
People (including myself) have used "c*nt" more recently to be provocative/sarcastic or make a point in light of Flanzo's suspension. I don't think it's usually or ever in good taste. But there is a difference between that and using slurs to directly attack people's character. Its unnecessary, childish, and ignorant.
Furthermore, there are alternative effective ways to get that type of point across. As I mentioned, horn is very capable of that and I think a big reason why so many people appreciate Juggs' posts are because he is very gifted at calling people out in an intelligent way as well. There is no reason why this forum should be prevented from having lively and at times contentious debate. But its hard to argue, IMHO, that certain types of insults cross the line and should have no place here.

apparently I don't post or read enough to understand why people get banned...but as far as I know it's temporary, right??
before inforoo I read/posted frequently on a message board where it was no holds barred, and I gotta say that inforoo was a welcome relief from the constant bickering on that board...as far as I can tell, the mods aren't out to get anyone, they're keeping the board civil. I hope the people who left or were banned do come back at some point...

Concerning the two mentioned in this thread: Flanz is temporary and I hope he returns as soon as his suspension is up. Juggs chose to leave on his own.

For the rest of of your statement...thank you.
Just to be clear, Juggs left because he was being harassed at work by someone(s) from this forum.
Wait, I never said the mods are out to get anyone. I was talking about board members complaining over stupid shit - lame asses who regularly request things like IP checks.

You just had to go and say something. Now that the masses are onto you, you're the next whack.
It does seem like a weird place to draw the line in the sand, considering some of the insulting shit that has been/is said around here. I completely support Flanzo's right to say my posts are idiotic, pointless drivel because that's exactly what they are a lot of the time. If I make a stupid joke/comment and like-minded people find it funny or interesting or whatever, then it provoked its intended reaction regardless of what anyone else thinks. The same can be said for some of flanzo's comments - he knew how they would be received and chose to belittle/insult/whatever. The only thing is, people do that on inforoo all the time without being suspended.
I don't know if I'd say flanzo was any meaner than juggs for example, the only real difference is most people thought juggs was funnier. For a lot of us members who are uninvolved with the various factions and drama at work here, or didn't really take stock of the shit in the random thoughts thread that led to the suspension prior to it all blowing up, it does seem like a weird situation because of the kind of stuff that (as far as we know) doesn't earn a second glance/comment from the mods.

Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

I believe the proper terminology is allegedly from this forum. I don't believe that that was ever proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. That being said, we as mods did everything Juggs wished before his departure. And we have shouldered the blame for his leaving.
We can not unfortunately control what members do outside this message board.

When someone calls your office and asks for "Juggs Esq." it's kinda clear. I'm not trying to pile on the mods here, but I think context is important. It's not really a "choice" in that situation.

Technically this is true. People are not suspended automatically for any infraction. They are given ample opportunity and warning before it gets to the point they are suspended.

We get a good number of reports. Especially during the busy season. You do not hear about most of them. The person is talked to in a private message. They usually comply without any problems.
