I'll see Alt-J at FFF so I can skip it but I've skipped FLips everytime so far this year and seen Outkast 3 times.
Yeah I get that. For me, that still wouldn't be an issue. But I didn't get to see OutKast at all this go round and I've seen Flips 12 times over the years, so I have a serious bias.
My hotel is a half block off the strip near the Riviera. Yeah, I am not interested in taking cabs all weekend. The shuttle fee is around $40. I just have to wait until payday to buy the shuttle pass.
The only problem is, if your hotel is off the strip, down by where the Riviera is, you're not close to the shuttle stop either. Which means a cab to Caesar's, or a hefty hike. Also, I would NOT recommend walking alone after the festival from the shuttle stop, back to your hotel. That part of the strip is still pretty shady, especially once you head away from Riviera.
I was thinking of using the monorail to avoid the long walk. I thought it would still be cheaper than taking a cab.

I sent you a pm with my phone number. We ended up getting shuttle passes. We will most likely park at the Bellagio, so it's a little extra walking, but nothing terrible. And you will basically be right on our way home.

Why did I not at least take a half day today? Gates open in just over an hour, and I'm sitting here looking at the vendor menus instead of working. Can't wait to head over there!

Looking into another fest to travel to next year besides with the lady and I think she'd enjoy this more than Voodoo just due to the lineup structure and the overall mass of things to do in vegas. Was it a mess logistically or anything like that? Also how was going to and from the fest? Were there a good mount of places close to stay? Did they have any early birds last year?

I didn't think it was bad logistically at all. We only went in on Friday and Saturday, but there was not a significant wait to get in either day. We parked at the Bellagio and took the shuttle from the Linq, mainly because I figured the traffic from there might be easier to negotiate than coming out of World Market, but I think it would have been absolutely fine either way. On Saturday, we stayed until the end of Outkast, and even with the huge amount of people leaving, we got right on the shuttle and were on our way back to the Strip within minutes. There were plenty of people around, but I never felt overcrowded. I didn't notice any significant noise issues between stages. Lines for food were reasonable. There were plenty of portopotties. I think I only went in two, but both were reasonably clean, and they had hand washing stations set up. They also had water stations, and the water in them wasn't funky or anything. I didn't really check in to hotel prices or anything, but all of the downtown hotels are walking distance to the grounds. The shuttle from the Strip left from the Linq, so Ceasar's, Harrah's, and the Quad are all right there. Most of the hotels on the main part of the Strip are a reasonable walk to there, although how far out you'd want to go would depend on personal preference and comfort level as to how you feel about walking in the area. I don't know if they had early birds or not. I wanna say they did, but I could definitely be wrong.
Sounds good. Ya I think if possible, it'd be worth it to stay as close as possible to not have to worry about the transportation aspect.
Unfortunately the downtown hotels will be significantly more expensive than one of the older hotels on the Strip. They definitely take advantage of the festival weekend.
Makes sense. Obviously I got awhile before I gotta start booking anything but I just feel like a fest like that combined with a Vegas weekend sounds fantastic. I feel like I didn't even really look into this fest this past year.
