That dude is the absolute worst. He's a passive aggressive asshole who does nothing to facilitate conversation on the message board.
And his corny humor really annoys me lol
Which is why the lineup is dropping this week and the official FF board is only getting 8-10 posts TOTAL per day. It's a ghost town because no one wants to deal with him.
No he's probably just trying to be funny like always
Anyone else think "Admin Guy" is letting his role get a little to his head? By no means am I calling him out, he's really helpful but some of his posts this year come off a little arrogant compared to the previous years.. I specifically remember him calling out other administrators of the FF message board for coming across as high and mighty last year which now seems a little hypocritical.
That said I'm thankful for what they do in calming the masses and dealing with repetitive questions that people can answer on their own with a little diligence.
I personally don't really find him funny at all for as long as I've been on the FF boards, but I will say that Red Frog has obviously put him in charge of keeping down the rioters while they get their stuff in order(I think that blog post even mentioned to ask him any questions). In that way he has done a pretty fantastic job on the Facebook page always replying and trying to diffuse the frustration. Also noticed that the official Firefly page comments back on posts as well pretty much every time, so for a lot of stuff that Red Frog gets wrong, I certainly respect them for that.

He got especially flustered when people started posting the headliner rumors. He then (very ironically) managed to incorrectly use the word "speculation" while simultaneously chastising others for not knowing the difference between a "confirmation" and a "speculation".

He clearly has the job of downplaying any lineup rumors, regardless of how factual they are. On one hand, I understand a festival not wanting rumors to fly rampant, but once the cat is out of the bag it just looks silly.

This is true. It's really kind of pathetic how empty the forums are for a festival with 80,000 attendees.

He does a good job, although he occasionally goes overboard shooting down rumors and trying to be funny with sarcastic posts related to the lineup and such. For instance, I'm not sure what the point was of his facebook post this morning saying "Run The Elephant and Cage The Jewels are confirmed at #?Firefly2015 !! Totally reliable source yo!!".
Also to add the topic of the Firefly Forums, maybe it's just me but it somewhat complicated to navigate around the forums. I never really understand where I am going clicking on a folder/subfolder.

Yeah I've been a part of the boards there since this time last year and just recently found these. It's so much better here
I've argued with that guy more than I've argued on here.
Yes it has been dead over there and I'm fortunate to have found this. I wouldn't necessarily blame him for that, but overall FF needs to do a much better job interacting with the fans, especially Pre-lineup.

Absolutely. You look at the job that other festivals like Roo and Coachella do with connecting with their customers and its a wonder that FF has been able to grow at the rate they have
He's so anti speculation it's mind boggling. This board has gotten so big by letting fans take any leaks, hints, etc. and debate if they're real and/or pertinent. Anytime we had a leak on that board he'd swoop in saying "WELL ITS NOT FROM RED FROG ITS NOT REAL ARE YOU GUYS GONNA TRUST EVERYTHING YOU SEE????" instead of letting us take the information and analyze and discuss it. Even when I'm wrong (Jay-Z headlining, the leak being 100% fake) I like to hear other people who disagree with me argue their points, and discussing those sorts of things is much better on here. I think once people realized that board was getting it's info from here they realized this thread alone (despite it's dumpster fire moments) is better than the whole FF board. And it's not close.

I was all about the FF boards until I found this spot. It's so much better and way more active. It's been a pleasure being able to discuss rumors and the festival in general with everyone. Once that lineup comes out this will be THE place to discuss everything...can't wait!

I argued with him about this exact thing, how FF needs to do a better job connecting with its fanbase to grow as a festival, and used the Coachella and Inforoo boards as examples of how well those 2 fests have been able to build their fanbase.
His counter argument was basically FF was selling a lot of tickets.
This was what I came across that kind of went to my point of it's getting to his head...
Holy shit this guy is a tool.
I kind of want to go to the Firefly boards and leak the entire lineup just to ruin his day.
You won't be able to ruin it, he'll be on his "best lineup ever" high horse and will probably just ignore anything negative you have to say. He's a FF propaganda machine, they can do no wrong to him.
EDIT: you'll also get his "it's not redfrog" speech, despite actually being someone in the know

No way. Rory would bring the whole message board down. Firefly-ocalypse.

It'd take down all ten posts done in the last seven months.
A girl on the Facebook fan page shared earlier how you can go to the Rhapsody Concerts app and view several artists scheduled to appear. Mike G hasn't commented on it yet. I imagine him just dropping the whole lineup then and there, followed by "WHOOMP, THERE IT IS!"
FWIW the app had St Vincent listed along with Paul, Killers, KoL, Chiddy Bang, and Cheerleader. Strange there was no one that got announced last night.
Some food for thought - it looks like from every indication St. Vincent is playing, and we knew that pretty early on. How early of a draft is this lineup to not have included them. I'm thinking it's going to wind up holding 70-75% accurate.

I did a quick count of what we're considering the mock lineup and it was around 109 bands/artists, so I'd imagine there can't be many more. If they're doing the pavilion though, there's a chance more DJs/EDM are taking up the lower half and there's another 5-10 the fill out the lineup (like St. Vincent).

I was that admin haha. I know nothing about how this stuff works, and I tried to just do what Mike did. He always posted intentionally vague things to get people worked up, so I tried it once and then all of a sudden I got a ton of shiz. As a volunteer moderator I was just trying to keep conversations going because I was told that's part of what we were supposed to do. I guess I made a lame post, but then instead of ignoring it a few members decided to be as rude about it as they could which was pretty uncool. But then again this is the internet.
But in regards to Mike getting "high and mighty". I'm pretty sure with each passing year he is becoming more and more ingrained with Red Frog and either he is or wants to be a full time part of Red Frog. So I think he is just doing what he feels he has to do to move up in the chain. Can't knock him for that.

The point I'm trying to make is not the number but the actually artists. This lineup was done very early so I'm saying with dropouts and other situations I only think it's gonna be about 75% accurate. St. Vincent and Elliphant both aren't on there, which leads me to believe they may be replacing people on the leak who dropped.
