How does that cross them off for Firefly?
It doesn't necessarily. But like you said earlier I can't imagine Goldenvoice whoring out acts. Take into account Porter is one if our bigger EDM acts and I think they all have slim odds at best (though I think Skrillex at FF is long overdue)
I remember a while back for the coachella lineup someone accessed the root/dir wordpress folder in browser (may not be what it was called) using just the default link - anyone recall what that is for wordpress? May be worth a shot looking around firefly to see what files are being uploaded

It's looking increasingly likely that The Killers and Kings of Leon rumors were accurate. Still no Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen or Prince sightings in any festival lineups. Also, not many festivals with acts like Future Islands, Hozier, alt j, Milky Chance, Walk the Moon, Royal Blood, Parquet Courts, Of Monsters and Men, Modest Mouse, The Decemberists and Belle and Sebastian, which seem like natural fits for Firefly.

future islands, milky chance, and alt j are in germany that weekend, so most likely not happening for firefly
I'll offer this for thought- with Goldenvoice running both Coachella and Hangout, it's obvious they're loading up on EDM. Regardless of Porter I'd look for FF to follow suit.

I'm not at all familiar with the individual that had speculated The Killers and Kings of Leon were headlining, but you have to believe with Firefly getting to 80,000+ people that they won't be repeating headliners from other festivals and headliner options are pretty thin. Good call on the bands in Germany; that might complicate that a bit. Parquet Courts and Royal Blood are New York natives and The Decemberists and Hozier are both touring heavily and fit the Firefly crowd better than alot of Festivals.
I'm curious as well, how much the partnership with Golden Voice influences the Firefly lineup. I can see a bit more EDM, but I think it will still fairly true to its roots.

They have a famous song with the word "Run" in the title.
I just checked the 2014 Phoenix tour dates on setlist.fm and it looks like they were available the weekend of Firefly. I don't know how the hell Firefly managed to drop the ball on that one. The 2014 lineup would look a lot better with Phoenix in place of Imagine Dragons.
