so drake leaked an unreleased donda track w Andre 3000 and it’s nicer than anything on CLB. so that’s a thing.
Besides having a strong case for being the GOAT, I think Andre has undeniably aged more gracefully than anyone in hip-hop. Been rapping for 30 years and there's nothing to suggest that he's past his prime.

here's my first crack at an edit. interested in y'alls opinions on additional songs i should cut, or songs i shouldn't have cut. haven't messed with ordering yet.

I have ok ok and junya as two of the more forgettable songs and moon and heaven and hell as two of the best. Other than that I dig it
This is my edit and the version of Donda I've been listening to the most. I like the flow of this version better. I kept most of the songs and removed some of what I consider filler (Remote Control, Junya, Ok Ok). I know some people like Ok Ok but it's not for me. Starting off with Donda (not Donda chant) and going into Heaven and Hell sets the theme better and I feel like would have given a stronger first impression.

I'll have to relisten to heaven and hell. Moon was on my "maybe" but ultimately didn't make the cut. Maybe when I start thinking about order it'll make it's way back in.
For junya pt 2 I like Carti and Ty Dolla Sign's verses. Not a great song but catchy enough, and I guess I also like Junya Watanabe's clothes so that biased me.
Ok ok was an immediate earworm for me. Not sure if I'll enjoy it long term but it's catchy.
Ultimately Donda is at best a mixed bag for me, but "Come To Life" is one of the best tracks ye has ever done. I haven't been able to listen to it without being profoundly moved.
that's a bad take, almost every classic album has been through the ringer on remasters
and the concept of rearranging/trimming albums is something that lots of artists have had problems with over the years, but to do so in 1980 was a shit ton more work as opposed to logging into Spotify and making whatever playlist you want
I wouldn't consider this a "remaster" since it is just an ongoing mix of the original release. In those situations the source material was left untouched.
like if I hear a Beatles song at any point outside of my control it's probably a remaster. I'm sure very few people are listening to the original mono recordings or whatever

Enhancing the sound of mono records is not the same as cutting/adding, etc.

i'll be the first to say Donda is kind of a mess, but anything Kanye does is worth paying attention to simply because he's such a massive cultural presence. he's one of the most famous artists in the world. that doesn't automatically mean everyone should stan for him, if he drops garbage it's garbage, but i'm at least going to spend some time with it, more than i would with some less famous artist.
like Pablo isn't making my greatest albums of all time list anytime soon, but there are some tracks on that album that really stuck with me. and i'm even less excited about Donda than I was about Pablo, but i have some songs in rotation, we'll see if any of them stick around.
at a minimum i think Come To Life will, that song continues to slay me. when kanye hits it right there is a vulnerability to his music that is at odds with his most public persona, and as much as his antics the past few years have been a turn off i can't pretend that vulnerability doesn't move me.
I'll PROBABLY never be as famous a musician as Kanye, but if so I'm gonna release an album that doesn't have a defined tracklist, and will continue to update, rework, edit, add, and remove songs on it over the course of my career.
