John Mayer Trio fits so perfectly, how has this gone on for 10 pages???
because a bunch of us are in denial that it's john mayer trio.
John Mayer is actually really talented. He just has the fact that he's John Mayer working against him. I'll probably see him if there aren't any conflicts.

he was my FAVORITE in his first/second album days.
it's one of those picks that would pop up on the lineup and I would be like, "huh, interesting!" and maybe see if there wasn't anything else going on. but, as a clue, I'm like, "GIMME MORE I WANT TV ON THE RADIO."
I'm just really underwhelmed with the clue answers thus far. I know they won't all be show stoppers, but answers have been pretty bland, imo.
It seems to me that the only reason we havens locked this one in as John Mayer(either alone or with his trio) is that people just don't want it be John Mayer.

I can agree with that.. But I've always just looked at the clues as a giant tease anyways. And the tease is always half the fun. Regardless of who it ends up being.
If one more person calls that bucket of whiskey a Long Island Iced Tea, I'm gonna freaking lose it.
.
Chill. Or don't. It might show up in the search, but most whiskey is not that color. So unless "whiskey" was their main point, it's probably not the clue. Granted there are no lemons in the drink, but Thailand or otherwise, when in f's sake outside of a fraternity haze have you ever seen anyone drink whiskey over ice through a straw. Probably never. Also, if it was whiskey, the ice wouldn't last a minute. Apologies if "whiskey" is the theme and I missed that loosely scanning the thread.

no offense dude, but WUT THE FUQ kind of whiskey are you drinking??

If you do a Google image search for "Thai whiskey bucket", you'll see not only the picture that this clue was grabbed from, but also that with ice cubes and straws is how this drink is served.

Please tell me you're not being serious. If you are serious, I'm going to ask a favor of you: Google either "whiskey bucket" or "bucket of whiskey", and report back to me with your findings.

I am a big John Mayer fan, his concerts are great. I seriously see his concerts whenever he comes to my town. It would be cool and chill to see him at the Roo personally. I'd be kind of excited.
Since my other thoughts are being ignored or people have given up lets just lock John Mayer in.. This will mean I am a quick thinking clue genius to know its John Mayer(with without the trio), or I will forever be known as the idiot who made everyone get stuck on John Mayer.
“Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.” - Hunter Thompson
Edit my bad. I saw the fine print under the photo which was way small on mobile. No idea then. Unchained is a VH song, that's all I got.
It appears to be a whiskey, coke and redbull drink according to an online recipe to make it or a US version. And I pretty much only drink TN and KY whiskeys (can be cheap), since I don't like Irish, cheap Scotch or Canadian that much. Actually stopped at the Dickel distillery in Tullahoma on the way to Bonnaroo 12. It's seriously darker, but alas that is explained by the mixed drink "whiskey in a bucket" which apparently utilizes Mekong which I have never tried.

Even worse when they say "Ice T"
That's a rapper. Not a drink.
Does if really matter on the web on a message board? If you read 'iced tea', 'ice tea' 'iced t' or 'ice t' after Long Island, I'm going to have to go ahead and assume you would pretty much get the point. Of course apology offered if you are an English teacher or journalist.
Oh and Fuzzy, it's probably not them, but they had an album Fear and Whiskey. Wiki says they recorded an album with the Gang of Four's instruments and that they ceased playing for a while Jon Langford formed a project The Three Johns. Just some background support for your guess even if wrong.

You could probably tie most anyone into the clue if you tried hard enough
Music in the film The Bucket List. The "theme song" according to wiki. Not gonna research beyond that. Another song called "Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey" There is a whiskey company called John Myer. Possible connection to the three straws? Doesn't really seem that the straws are relevant. Only discounts the trio part of the guess.
Viet Cong:
Thai buckets are made with Mekhong whiskey. Band name clearly relates, if the clue is pointing us to Southeast Asia. The radio clue could be hinting towards the drink ingredients. See Mekhong Whiskey.
Future Islands:
Bucket list have things you plan/hope to do before you die. So, in the future. If the hint is for a Thai bucket, the full moon parties started on an island off the coast If the Tiger Beer matters... Singapore is an island nation. Some people have a trip to the moon parties on their bucket list.
Moon Taxi:
Song called "Bucket of Whiskey." The clue picture is the first Google image result for that phrase. Thai buckets are famous drinks at the full moon parties in Thailand. The moon parties are a huge tourist draw. Drunk tourist take taxis? Quack if I know.
Strait forward guesses:
Buckethead - Bucket + beer head Ice-T - In Europe that weekend Rubblebucket
Other Guesses:
Lana Del Ray - Lyrics about beer on ice. Rumored to be at Roo. Genesis - A "bucket list" act. Billy Joel- A "bucket list" act. Unchained- The quacking best band ever! Every band with three members Everyone on Long Island
Haha. I don't even think it's the answer. Just giving Kev hell.
Swedish Chef I remember my thinking. It's that moon parties are almost all tourists. So vacations in Thailand are on some people's bucket list.
Reading is hard...
I don't see how they could justify bringing back Moon Taxi this year but that's just the desperate John Mayer fan in me speaking
I've become really skeptical of the amount of work they put into these clues. The Mayer guess is really just as likely. FYI, a lot of people think Moon Taxi is clue two. So who knows?
I'm just still confused how that guy thinks the clue liquid doesn't look like the color of whiskey. WHAT COLOR IS HIS WHISKEY?!
It's mobile and it's hard to attach a photo since I don't know the code to this software without a link to a hosting site, but it's actually brown. It's not Mekong whiskey which is apparently a lighter color. I'm not going to be a dick and suggest you google a bottle of Jack, Jim or George, but it's darker than the bucket of whiskey. Fwiw, Moon Taxi is better every time I see them and hope they will be playing this year at Bonnaroo.

I was going to ask how many clues can we tie moon taxi to? We have two now, so they might or might not be playing, but you got double the chance you're right if they do.
