So it just hit me why Howlin' Wolf doesn't have anything scheduled for Halloween. They must be having the MoM's Halloween Ball there. Just hit up my member friend to find out who is playing out of curiosity.
Nothing keeping me away from Mastodon!! Perfect late night Halloween show. MoM's Halloween last year with Kung Fu was great though. They had some kinda Radiators spinoff band as well that wasn't Raw Oyster Cult.
Best news of the day? Toyota is BACK! Posters and bandanas for everyone!!
Score!! I found a guy on ebay that sells his 2002 and onward Voodoo lithos, I got the '02 and '03 last year they are cool lionelmilton.com/ His site is down right now but he also has posters for other years.
Who is Bob Moses? I'm assuming it's some electronic shit and not the old jazz drummer.

What's different about the layout from last year? Looks the same to me aside from the additional "restrooms."
I was just quoting them honestly. It looks like the info booth is moved from the center directly across from the entrance to the side by the vendor tents being the last tent instead of the first... Flambeaux looks a little further away, but that could just be the way the map looks. I guess the best way to tell is when we get out there. I love that there are at least 4 different bathrooms since I am GA this year.
Yeah that looks mostly about the same as last year which was better than 2013 with the bleed issues. I want to go to that Funk Sabbath show on Friday, but damn if that's likely particularly if I do the double show Thurs and possibly hit up Bob Moses on Wed if it's not too packed. Snob, I'll hit you up if I end up being able to get out Wed night. I'm still not sure, because I have to work on Thursday
Hey everyone! First, thank you all for all the info on this thread. I'm a Voodoo newbie and I've already learned a lot.
I'm a die hard Florence fan and I've been waiting to see her since 2010.
I've got tickets for GA Friday. What time would you suggest I arrive at the festival to be at the front row for her? I was thinking like, 5 a.m. and then sit my butt at the stage all day...but my boyfriend told me I'm crazy lol....
I'm freaking out bc I want to see her up close and I'm worried I won't be able to.

Thanks for reading. <3
Just get there an hour before gates open and you'll be fine. There's a shit ton of space on the front row for camping.
EDIT: Also, if you want to see her up close, I'd actually get on the inside rail as she'll 100% run through there at some point in her show towards the sound booth.
Thank you thank you!!! If I get to touch Florence I might pass out.
I'm so nervous something is gonna go wrong. You helped calm my nerves!
Yeah, you should have no trouble getting the rail if you want it. Voodoo is so varied up at most of the stages that people will be moving around all day. Usually you can get the front between sets, but it's even easier in the daytime as most people don't show up until mid afternoon. Because Modest Mouse's fanbase overlaps with Florence's, you might want to get over there during Metric and work your way up. That's what I would do.
Thank you! I really like metric, so I planned on being there way earlier than that...I'm literally going to get in line that morning at least by 9, go straight to the Alter stage and sit down...and not move...and wait for my boyfriend to bring me food and alcohol. Lol
I'm a little Florence obsessed. But I've been waiting 5 years and who knows when she'll be back this way...life is short and I have no shame.
I really appreciate all the tips! What do you wish you had known when you were a Voodoo virgin?
I wish I wouldn't have missed all the previous years. First time I went was Ozzy/Drake/Street Sweeper Social Club, and I only went that day (Saturday of 2010). My kids were little and I was living about 50 miles out of town after Katrina, so I just missed all those years. I decided not to miss any more. I was with about 7 people last night who are bailing for Hulaween. And I like their lineup better. But no way do I miss Voodoo. There will be random issues, as there always are. But I think it's more fun than jazzfest and Buku and by a lot. It's also a party festival, so expect tons of blasted people though a mostly behaved crowd.

Just went over my schedule again. Completely forgot Santigold was playing this, pretty excited for that. And outside of Eric Prydyz > Deadmau5 on Sunday, fuck that day's lineup is a snoozefest.
Yeah, Sunday isn't all that great. I doubt I would get there in time to see Ludlowe Thieves, so I will probably hit some of Quickie Mart, Here Come the Mummies, Chance/Fishbone, Title Fight/Bro Safari, Dumpstaphunk, The Cult and Slightly Stoopid. That's not a great day for me by any means, but I do love Fishbone, so it could be worse. In better news, some of my costume arrived today.
I'm hoping it doesn't rain that day (if it has to rain at all) since I will be in a costume. NWS has a chance of showers on Saturday and on Sunday. But highs are in the upper 70's with lows in the middle 60's, so at least it wouldn't be a cold rain or anything. Of course we've got 6 days to go, and everything could change by then.
Nina las vegas (saturday) just had her last triplej radio show, lots of unreleased stuff including an awesome mix from diplo, her set is definitely worth checkin out on saturday before santigold
Skrillex has been known to spin there. If I go out Friday, no way I'm missing Funk Sabbath, but again, that's essentially not even iffy. I actually have a break between Clutch and Babes in Toyland from 5:55 to 6:45, so I might pass by there, Peaches (who I know Vieux loves) or even a little of Santigold on my way over to the Carnival stage. I don't really know her, but isn't she essentially another house DJ?
I went to that Krewe of Boo Halloween Ball on Saturday night at Mardi Gras World.
The search to get in there was pretty ridiculous. By far the best funk show I've seen this year.
Mostly Meters songs with other stuff thrown in. Zigaboo on drums, June on guitar, Ivan & Ian, Khris Royal, Big Sam etc, so sick! The band was called FunkiFiya and I would def be on the look out for that group at Jazzfest next year.
However, the crowd was pretty terrible. Tons of people who weren't paying attention to the music and were in the way, drunk attention seeking assholes all over the place (you know the type, overly dramatic dance moves you are always dodging, standing in front of you turned around so everyone has to see them having a good time)
The big gripe I had was them saying it was costumes required and then seeing dickheads without costumes all over the place. Kinda ruins it for a costume ball imo You would never see that shit at MoMs.

Yesterday the chance of rain was only 40% today it is up to 80% on Saturday and Sunday, I am hoping that by Wednesday it will drop down again. If it rains, I can't do my costume... well I could, but I am not wearing all white in the rain. I am in the process of putting together backup, weather-resistant costumes. Mostly face paintings to go with my spirit hoodie/zebra/giraffe onesies. I have found some quick and easy costumes for girls that I can easily not have to worry about being see-through if they get wet.
I am not super worried about it raining just because one of my most favorite shows/memories ever at Voodoo was Black Keys in the pouring ass rain and then Silversun Pickups right afterwards in '09.
