So glad Florence + The Machine are back at it. I've been wanting to see them for a long time. The long note she hits in No Light, No Light is inhuman. Seeing that live is gonna be amazing!

it's crazy how perfect her voice is live, too. so many performers can't keep their voice stamina up to par compared to their records. she may even rival how good she sounds on record at shows.
The last thing I want to do is come into a thread specifically for an artist to bash an artist especially when tensions are running high right now but I thought she sounded awful at Coachella 2012. Maybe it was where I was in the crowd or just a higher expectation idunno? Im willing to give her a second chance though provided there isnt something else during that time Id like to see

She broke her voice in June/July of 2012, so maybe the wear and tear was already beginning to show at Coachella. I think they took a hiatus after the injury.

my personal experience at that show was that she sounded amazing, but all the girls in the crowd were shrieking along to everything and made it sound really off. especially parts in songs where the audience attempted to sing long (loudly) while flo switched up her runs or harmonies, and it clashed. I distinctly remember that being an issue.
overall I still loved that set, I also am more or less in love with florence. so there's that.
I saw her a few years ago at music midtown and loved it. Her voice, energy, and stage presence were all fantastic. There was a funny moment when there was a sound problem with the first song so the whole band went off stage and just started the show over from the start.

Totally intend to give her another chance. I liked her studio stuff so I figured "hey this is probably even better live". Wasnt the case, but barring no conflicts Ill report back after June
She was amazing at Jazz Fest. But she was barefoot... No heels, dancing and twirling all around. I can't wait to see her again. My coach was two rows in front of us, and he didn't know. He was dancing and singing. It was awesome. He's all tough and buff and hard-ass singing Florence! Great memory.
While I'm really looking forward to her at Roo, I have a hope that she'll headline Boston Calling because I really want to see her do a full set in the dark.

I'm curious what direction she goes for on the new album. Florence is my second favorite female artist live behind St. Vincent. Florence is majestic, powerful, and packs so much attitude live. Anyone doubting that they can't headline is just crazy, including myself. When I saw them in the top 6 on the Roo lineup, I was like really? Then I thought back to when I saw them front row at Lolla in 2012, and changed that sentiment. I consider her to be one of the best live acts I've ever seen, and any fest that didn't get them on this go around, missed the ball. I would love for them to get a what pre headliner spot, or a slot like Phoenix last year. Undeniably a must see, and if you've never seen them it'll be tough to skip them. So excited for Round 2, with a potential round 3 if they do play Lolla as well.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Not if her album makes her even bigger and ready to headline the big fests. I think she'll be one of the next indie rock acts to reach that place, so if Lolla passes on her this year and is the fest that breaks her as a headliner next year, it would actually be a pretty smart move for them.
Bought Presale VIP for the sole reason of having a feeling Florence + The Machine would be on the festival circuit this year, and I would die to see her on The Farm. Couldn't have been more ecstatic when I found out I was right and she was announced. BEST FUCKING DAY EVER I TELL YOU.

Well you figure they are playing Coachella, playing Bonnaroo, rumored for Lolla and Glastonbury as headliners this year. So next year, I don't think it will be as special, because these heavyweights took advantage while the album is fresh. No doubt it'll still be great if they play Sasquatch next year, Hangout, Firefly, and so forth. The first set to me is always the coolest, because it's all new and we get it first.

I agree. I think she should've released her album a couple months ago or at least put out a big single to push her to headliner status for this year. Granted, Bonnaroo could've easily made her a headliner. She's just as big, if not bigger than Kendrick, and has a better history of live performances. They just wanted hip-hop.
I'm anxious to see what spot she gets on the schedule. She's a must see for me on this line up, probably the act I'm looking forward to the most. Saw her at lollapalooza and it was by far the best set of that festival for me!
