Prior to this afternoon it was opinion. Since then I've been contacted with legit information after we published it. Hell, Miguel may very well be there for all I care. I'm just passing along what's been told to me.
Did you hear Miguel is not confirmed or that he won't be on the lineup?
So, after being bored at work and following this all day:
It is a surprise to me they didn't just run today with the lineup they had -- with or, now I guess, without Miguel -- assuming a big name like Pretty Lights is curating it. Right? From a crisis communications standpoint, it already leaked. It's covered. It's an 80s Superjam with PL. It's over, and the news is out. It's a big announcement on its own, in a way, since Pretty Lights previously wasn't on the farm. Miguel is a great but secondary detail, even for the average follower.
On the other hand, the segment of people who care (all of us on Inforoo, reddit, etc.) are tiny. We care a lot, but word isn't going to run very far until they finalize it with the actual artists. So, why rush to fix it -- even over the long holiday? Maybe they always planned to announce it next week and had to react to James Lidell jumping the gun.
On the other other hand, is there an artist a level down from PL who they want to promote with this? Is PL in question?
This is very underwhelming. Am I the only one that just isn't moved by this possibility at all?
Yeah its weak to me too. Id probably like the song choice but the participants mostly arent for me
While many of the guests are great and all, I'm only a big fan of a few of them. What makes me excited is the fact that I'm sure the set list will kick ass. If they don't play Whip It, I'll be pretty pissed.

This is partly why I don't care. 80's themed events are beyond played out. I'd have about the same amount of excitement if I drove by Applebee's and they had a sign for "80's Karaoke Night."
And as Deto said above, none of the people involved are that exciting of a fit.

Oh come onnnn, King of hyperbole, it's not that underwhelming. It's not anything to lose our minds about. (And yeah there are many/ much better themes they could've used for a SJ: 60's/70's psych or 90's grunge just in terms of decades) but it'll be fun to stop by and get my groove on in between Slayer and D'Angelo. Though, it is tempting to camp for a good spot between those two sets.

I'm sure it will be plenty of fun. They'd have to try to fuck it up. Drugs and nostalgia will make a Bonnie Taylor cover five times better then it actually is.
Camping for D'Angelo sounds like a good idea to me.
80s Superjam AND Atomic Bomb Superjam? Paging Mr. Byrne...
Don't toy with my emotions.
Yeah, seeing this with Lidell being the one posting it immediately made me begin to get my hopes up (again) for Byrne. I'm just going to do my best to ignore these hopes. I. Sure if he's on the farm, he will be at Atomic Bomb! which I will assuredly be very close for. So, if he isn't at Atomic then I'll be able to not worry about missing him at the 80's SJ.

If they keep my favorite artist a secret addition fer those two sets I will burn down The Farm. Atomic Bomb was a highly anticipated set, but without DB and against MMJ...I'm probably gonna watch MMJ.
I still plan on catchin' most of the Superjam, especially if it is 80's themed. But that assumed list does nothin' to really excite me.

Yeah, I'll be at Atomic Bomb because I simply can't pass up my only chance to see Onyeabor's music performed live. And I will be going to the SJ after Slayer and trying to make it back to D'Angelo in time to hear Sugah Daddy
This is not boner inducing. I only recognize like 3-4 names on that list, and don't feel the need to investigate the rest
Pretty Lights being a direct conflict with Bassnectar is the most entertaining thing about this. I can't wait to over hear the tight and bright soother suckers complain all weekend about how they'll be raging back and forth to catch both sets.
Anyone who logs into reddit more than twice a month should be sterilized.
If David Bryne were to come anywhere near this, my attitude towards it will take a 180. Just putting that on record so all you blood sucking "I told you so'ers" can eat the D in advanced.
Some of you people should be locked inside a car together for the entirety of weekend. Without water.
Edit: originally I tagged extremevegabonding and tripperfish to be locked in a car together, but decided they deserved company
I suggest we trap some poor misguided souls in a scorching hot car for 4 days to meet their doom, yet bacon brings to light a brain fart of a miscalculation in my post. Typical.
