So, last year there were 21 artists listed as late night:
2014 LATE NIGHT ARTISTS
Chance the Rapper Darkside Deafheaven Die Antwoord Disclosure Frank Ocean Ice Cube J. Roddy Walston & The Business Kaskade Mastodon Meshuggah Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Pusha T Skrillex SuperJam "?" SuperJam with Skrillex & Friends The Flaming Lips The Glitch Mob Ty Segall White Denim Zedd
I don't understand you guys putting Odesza as the LN tent closer. They only have one album right? I seem them as getting the Disclosure treatment this year. FlyLo, STS9, and MMSW seem much more likely to get the sunrise sets. All 3 of those are actually capable of playing for 3+ hours.
E: RTJ as well. Although RTJ at like 2:30 would be insane, and they could each do their solo stuff to extend the set. I just like to reserve those LN tent closing sets to acts that can jam all night.
they have 3 albums. and how many LN closers have actually "jammed all night" ? pretty lights & kaskade. 1 per year. not each tent closer is going to play until sunrise. I'm not seeing your point, here.
Ok 2 albums and an EP, sorry. My main point is that have they ever played a show over 2 hours? I would guess probably not. STS9 has played several sunrise sets at Roo, and can play 3-4 hour shows with ease. I think Medeski, Martin, and Wood has played a sunrise set before as well, and are also capable of jamming for a long time. FlyLo has 3-4 times the amount of material as Odesza. I just think Odesza would struggle to even play a full 1.5 hr set, and I therefore think it would be a waste to have them close a LN tent.
Edit: Also, I could see Deadmau5 only being scheduled for 2 hours but end up playing closer to 4.

That included Thursday late night's correct?
For Thursday I think "Tent Closers" and not "Late Nights" even though they play similar timeslots at times. I've also associated late night acts with Friday and Saturday.

The only thing I know about D'angelo was that he made that naked video which made me never listen to any of his other music. Tell me more why this is an amazing add?

Bolded ones played thursday night
Also Zedd was rotated to Which stage because the Skrillex Superjam needed extra set up and play time. So only 16 acts total played Friday/Saturday late night. Right now we have 13. But if What stage/Which stage is only having one act per night then that isn't a big drop off.

add it to the umphry's mcgee category that was shoved down my throat by my psychotic ex in college. nah thanks.
Whatever you think about Umph or STS9 on record (I never listen to either of those bands unless I'm seeing them live), if you can't enjoy a LN sunrise set from UM or STS9 at Roo live in person, then I just flat out feel sorry for you.

while they won't play a sunrise set, they won't struggle to play 1.5 hours. they have way more than enough material. I've seen them 3 times and even when they only had their EP they jammed for well over an hour.
with your logic darkside, zedd, die antwoord, chance the rapper, and meshuggah all should not have been tent closers last year because they "don't have enough material" or wouldn't likely "jam all night"
your logic isn't logical. it's straight up just who you want to play.

A silly reason to not check out his music.
Start here, then watch the rest of the episodes:
Thank you! I didn't really know anything about him, but kinda excited now.

Without getting into any of his other music, that song is fucking awesome.

The main problem with those acts being tent closers is that none of them are that good. FlyLo needs to close a tent

This made me chuckle.
Seeing the LN announcements simultaneously makes me feel an immense wave of Roo '15 fomo and huge relief that I won't have to deal with the stress of choosing which LNs to see on that Friday. Damnnnnnnn that's a clusterfuqq
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Nobody owes you an explanation.
Calm down, sir. Was just asking for information you turd bucket.

Honestly, I don't know that much about them, and didn't know that they jammed much at their shows. I do know that their last album (which is very good) was mostly 3-4 minute songs.
The whole point of Darkside is that they are an experimental jam. They played like 6 songs last year, and each of them were about 20 minutes long. Zedd is a DJ who could just keep playing, and he didin't even end up playing LN anyway. Die Antwoord and Chance the Rapper were wastes of LN tent closers. Meshuggah has got like 8 albums, and they are a special case because someone had to close the metal tent last year.
"your logic isn't logical. it's straight up just who you want to play."
I could say the same of your logic, and my logic seems more logical seeing as how most everyone else has agreed with it.

I am not a fan of STS9 unless they are live. I just saw them again at BUKU, but the problem was it was still daylight. We just sat by the break dancers and watched them groove out. It was actually perfect. IMO, they are definitely a night time show just because of their lights, but they aren't bad music. I will probably check them out for a bit (if they aren't conflicting with RTJ or Odesza) and then head to the silent disco as well. I am not about seeing them jam out all night long.
