What is it like traveling from stage to stage (specifically from The Grove to Nectar)? I feel like seeing RTJ here would be a good idea so I can see something else Friday night at Roo... but DFA1979 is also one of my top acts to see at Guava. If the walk is only like 5-10 minutes, it should be okay to see most of both. I went to Coral Skies last year and it was an incredibly easy walk, but they only had two stages.
Is the nectar stage decent? I'd really only be going to this thing for rtj and James Blake.
Last year it was inside the fairground expo hall, so air conditioned and equipped with good sound.
As for navigating stage to stage, that can be tricky. The Big Guava stage is the one that's farther from the rest of the stages, and going from there to the Nectar stage could take ten minutes.

The Grove to Nectar is less than a five minute walk. The only stage that is more time-consuming is the main stage. The other three stages are all within about 200 yards of each other.

I Could only make it for Friday but I was surprised of how good of a show Passion Pit put on. Hopefully tickets sold well and Big Guava returns for another year.

I had a fantastic time today. Essentially had rail for RTJ and James Blake.
RTJ was nice and rowdy where I was. Roo Conflict with EWF is comfortably busted.
I wonder if James Blake ever thought he'd be able to pull off a show without doing Wilhelm's Scream. Didn't matter for me. That was one of my favorite shows ever. I was smiling ear to ear and vibing like crazy the entire time. His material sounds so good live and he plays it in a way that strays just far enough from the album imo.
The Strokes was a great way to end it. The lawn at the back was going nuts dancing. I was so happy I didn't end up in what appeared to be a tame pit by comparison. People were literally running around and dancing like hooligans during "Someday".
Last year I was 2 feet from the rail for Outkast. Today was great. Now lets see if they can get me there for the full weekend next year.

I had a lovely time in the pit. Glad the lawn folks were enjoying themselves.
Only complaint I had about Big G was only having a single water booth for half the day on Saturday and zero on Friday. Combine that with the fact that the water booth was only a hose hooked up to a water sprout on a very sunny Tampa wkend. Other than that, it exceeded my expectations. I really had a great time! RVOTR, Passion Pit, Pixies and Milky Chance all put on solid shows. RTJ fkn killed it, a tent might be brought down at Roo haha. The Strokes have been my fav band for over 10 and I finally got to see them. I bamboozled my way into VIP and woke up this morning with extremely sore legs and my voice is gone. So, I felt that I represented inforoo in the pit haha. The Strokes were just amazing, I'm never going to forget how much fun Saturday was for me =D
A. Hotels, 3 right across the street from the venue and the hard rock hotel and casino a ahort shuttle trip away. We stayed at the comfort suites, and it was wicked clean, staff was super nice. This set up with dedicated hotels that are likely there for value seeking casino crowd is nice.
B. Venue. Spent my youth going to raves in Tampa / Orlando and Id been to the fair grounds pre amphitheater. For a festival set up, I thought it was awesome. The floating covered area on the lake made for a great chill spot, though I wasn't in much need of it. The beers were good, my fovirites on tap vs just some Sierra Nevada in a can so they can saw "craft beer". We didn't eat much but the food options looked solid. No special sections for drinking, if anything I'm bummed I didn't hit up the Jack daniels or Malibu spots cause I was going with beer only.
C. Stages / sound. Overall I was happy. Nothing spectacular. Simple lighting rigs and reasonably solid sound stacks. The sound in the ampetheater is criisp. The nectar stage was a little rough for action Bronson but was solid for RTJ and amazing for James Blake. The grove stage sounded beat by the sound booth. We were on the ail for TOTR and the vocals sounded light there but I still loved every minute.
D. Crowd. Good mix of young and old. Some clear festival veterans, some young kids, some older folks. A lack of dancing folks overall but pockets of really passionate fans. No real dipshits but my only complaint is the lack of people really getting down.
E. Sets. Set times were shorter than if like but it did allow for a smooth run from show to show. I would have loved another track or two from TV on the tadio and RTJ. All the acts I saw were on point musically. killer mike had a broken arm and still brought it heavy, they really got the crowd behind them fast. They didn't get the female verse in "love again" which made my wife a bit since she was excited about singing it out. Girl next to us only figured out what everyone was screaming half way through and then started grinning and laughing. Loved it.
F. Cops / vibe / extra curricular stuff. Security was super relaxed. No open smoking but no hassling people who were off to the side smoking. No really wasted people. Lots of people having fun. Not a hug fest but no snotty assholes giving shade.
Only additions Id like to see
1. After parties at the hard rock. (Thing is right next door and has plenary of space)
2. A dance music tent would be awesome. There is a ton of talent based in the state that has national cache so wouldn't be a huge expense and would round out the vibe and lineup.

We had one security guard come grab my friend in the pit, take his rolled extra curricular out of his hand, tell us we can't have it, and the proceed to put it out IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND, like some kind of wannabe bad ass. Naturally he realized he was trying to extinguish a burning ember on bare skin and said "ow, that fucking hurts!". My friend asked for his stuff back and he said "no, its still illegal" and walked away. Hopefully it aleviated some of that pain for him when he inevitably partook later.
My only complaint is that they didn't allow anyone into the ampitheatre until 4:00 on Saturday unless they had a VIP ticket. That was really dumb because it was empty and it would have been another option to get out of the sun.

I would like to add that I was quite thrilled that there was no sound bleed from Hozier on the main stage to the little side stage where I was watching Classixx.

I walked up to the set 10 minutes before when there was less than 20 people at the stage, and I felt nervous about the sound bleed. That stage's volume exceeded expectations. Did they open with a new song? Sounded really smooth.

I didn't even think about the sound bleed until I was walking over and realized Hozier was on the main stage right next to where Classixx was playing, and thought for sure my goal of not hearing Hozier once this summer would be foiled. Fortunately that little stage had great volume.
I didn't recognize that first song, I liked it though. Overall that was a really fun set.
Reptar>Action Bronson>Run the Jewels>DFA 1979>TVotR>Classixx>Pixies>The Strokes was a great day.
