There is nothing more unfortunate than that naked guy who's soiled himself and is being restrained & handcuffed in the Witch ditch on Thursday afternoon....every year.
You might think its a guy on drugs, but really its just the poor Which Ditch Troll being hassled by the man for his difficult riddles.
I can't tell you how many shows I missed my first roo bc I decided to "stick with the group." i regret this for many reasons. Especially looking back at the schedule and seeing what could've been.
100% agreed. You'll be kicking yourself the rest of the year and pissed at the people who made you miss it. Just tell your group a week before Roo your top 5 or whatever and that your not missing those shows for any reason.
Yeah, just make it VERY clear which shows you refuse to miss. But, if you don't have other shows at the moment, go with the flow and follow your friends and your ears and you'll likely stumble upon some of your favorite shows of the weekend

I cannot emphasize enough how awesome Amish doughnuts are. I ate one with one of those tall Apple Ales and just road delicious chillwaves to Bonnaroo heaven.
Also, without being too specific, I recommend trying a lot of new things that Bonnaroo has to offer. It could change your life.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!

If you like beer definitely check out the brooers tent. I love getting to sample stuff that isn't available in my home state. Plus nothing beats a nice, cold, tasty beer on a hot day.
Ok, I am getting a great check list together and I have informed my guy of it already. So far: Wednesday night (we were already planning this) Make with the friendly to the neighbors Brooers Ten Don't miss acts you MUST see; even if it means splitting up (guy knows this already too) Don't stay in tent all day, so much to see in Centeroo Amish Donuts Late Nights are a must Ferris Wheel MMJ (duh) Am I missing anything?

You're going to have a kick ass Bonnaroo!
Just to echo what everyone else said. Absolutely do not be afraid to split from the group to see a show you want to see. But like others said, don't get too tied down to a schedule, and go with the flow and see where your ear takes you!
Finding a shady spot somewhere for a power nap can be a life saver.
Thanks! I was able to find previous years' schedules at the beginning of January on the Bonnaroo website, but I can't find them since they updated the theme. Is it only me, or are they gone now?
Just a side note, it can be hard to sit in the campsite till late afternoon. I always have someone I want to see before then. I also can't sleep once the sun is up. So resting can be kinda hard. I think you have to weigh your options. Who so you want to see most? Honestly, I usually try to do some late night stuff and if I get too tired, I take a nap in centeroo and have my bf wake me up when he's ready to go back to camp. You do have to get over the whole "I'm sleeping on the ground in the middle of a festival" thing. But I have no shame. When you're tired, you're tired.
I always enter centroo early. By noon. I find a good spot near a tree, and unless there is something I have to see before 3 or 4 in the afternoon, I just nap. Usually bring some playing cards and make some new friends.
I can't sleep in the tent past noon. If I roll in at 4 or 5 am, that still gives me a solid 6 hrs sleep easy.
I also watch what I eat during the day. Fruit, granola, light foods only after breakfast until the sun goes down.

To add to the food, many people swear that Spicy Pie is heaven in your mouth but I haven't personally experienced it

Spicy Pie is possibly the most overrated food at Bonnaroo. It's just standard, greasy pizza. Not that it's a bad thing (I still get a slice when my late night munchies are going), but it's far from what some make it out to be.
The real pizza was from the wood fired oven guy over by the Comedy Tent/This Tent. Now, THAT was good pizza! I haven't seen him since 2012 or 2013 though
Those Spicy Pie bastards probably ran him off the farm. "There's no room for artisan pizza here!"

I am a pretty avid fest-goer, and I am all about splitting from the group or solo-rolling to get to see who I want to see. But I know that Bonnaroo is unique in the late night shows and I really want to experience that. I am a pretty tight schedule keeper (and usually the group organizer) , so I will definitely have to make sure I don't get all stringent. I love all these must-do things. And Fore34, idk about that spicy pie...it doesn't really sound awesome from the descriptions I have heard.

Pie For The People is the best pizza option. It's on Shakedown.
Trapped In The Closet Sing-along at 2am Thursday: They blast classic R Kelly music videos before they play "Trapped" and it's like the biggest dance party all night. They hand out out water gun baretta's, spatulas and condoms and it's bonkers. Plus I'm hoping Mr. James comes back to dance in there again this year.
Amish Donuts: Just eat it Ferris Wheel MMJ Front row for a favorite show Dancing with random people Of course Brunch And meeting pondo ROCKS face to face

Definitely better then Spicy Pie, no doubt there. But that wood fired pizza was AMAZING. Perfect crust, and the crust is what makes a great pizza imo. But since the wood fired guy is gone, I guess the crown does go to Pie for the People!

Ah, ok, ignore my spicy pie recommendation because it apparently doesn't live up to the name. I haven't ever had it myself, so I'm just happy that I now know not to waste my money on it. The only food place that I frequent on the farm is the BBQ truck in the food truck oasis because they're the only people that make sweet tea the way we do in the south (with way too much sugar) and it is DELICIOUS and I get it multiple times a day. Other than that I just kinda try out whatever food places are around me when I'm hungry

I've never had that wood fired pizza at Bonnaroo but I'm like 90 percent positive that operation sets up at the Grant Park Farmer's Market in Atlanta. If so, then I've had that pizza and it is indeed excellent.
But yea, everyone get a slice of David Bowie at Pie For The People. Unless the wood fire guy comes back. Then get both.

Oh yes! I have talked with pondo ROCKS. He told me to look for him, he's in the viking hat and large clock around his neck. Added to list! So in addition, I need to add the following to my list: front row (was planned for Royal Blood) Dancing with random people which is most logical to happen anyway I forgot the Brunch and the Silent Disco, which were both already on my list. And David Bowie pizza

Truly some sage wisdom
Here's to hoping they bring the wood fired pizza guy back. Then it's PIZZA IN THE MORNING, PIZZA IN THE EVENING, PIZZA AT SUPPERTIME! (with a Thurman Murman or two, plus a samosa from the REAL Samosa Man)

Silent disco late night is awesome. It's really improved in the last couple years. I saw probably an hour or so of Classixx in there last year. The line goes super quick so don't be deterred by a long line if you want to try it.

Yes!!!! Make sure you keep your eye out for a big guy wearing Viking horns and a necklace with a big clock on it. I ran into Pondo several times on the farm my first year and even caught the a Tiny Victories show with him in Café Where. Thus far, he is actually the only info rooster I've met on the farm. But meeting him was a highlight of my first trip because it seems so insane to have traveled from around the country and randomly run into somebody that you've talked to on the internet.

Spicy Pie is delicious and cheap but Pie For The People is better! They were in Centeroo in 2012 & 2013 over near the road between Centeroo and the Main Venue but didn't see them last year (the app has locations).
And I do think the wood fired pizza place is from Atlanta...and is quite delicious.

The only thing good about Spicy Pie is that it is relatively cheap. You can get a slice and a Lemonade or Iced Tea for like 9 bucks, and it fills you up.
If you are on a budget $1 Grilled Cheese on Shakedown is where its at. Being in Pod 3 last year I grabbed one on my way into Centeroo everyday.
Last year was my first year at Roo and of course I am heading back this year. My rookie advice would be to show up with shade, water, and some cash and let Roo take care of you. No matter how you Roo, I can't imagine not having an amazing time and seeing unforgetable things everywhere you go.
As far as the Amish Donuts go, what's wrong with you veterans? I probably had 2 dozen last year. They're cheap too, relative to other vendors.
This is pretty much going to be the longest 5 months ever, waiting for Roo to get here. I already have a packing list started and keep bugging my husband about what time he thinks we should arrive and what our arrival strategy should be. I'm going to be insufferable until June!

Arrival time is mostly a crap shoot. If you get there when gates open your screwed. Somewhere in between 10pm and 4am you should be ok depending where you enter.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I've gathered after reading a bunch of threads and blogs. I don't think Wednesday night arrival is in the cards for us because we will already be taking all of Thursday, Friday, and Monday off of work. The husband had talked about the possibility taking an extra day and spending it in Nashville, but again, I'm not sure about the extra day off work, and I think I'd rather save that extra $$ and use it for roo. Our drive is only about 7 hours so we have also tossed around the idea of driving a handful of hours and using hotel points to get a room somewhere, crash for a few hours then get up and get in one last shower and be on the road again around 2 or 3 am, getting in and parked and then sleeping in our car until it is light enough to unpack and set up.
I don't know- there are just so many options and with this being our first roo I'm not sure what will work best for us. I'm also pretty sure I will have a hard time sleeping the night before roo- I can never get a good nights sleep before vacation, etc.

Just a word of advice, regardless of when you arrive at Roo. As soon as you park you are gonna want to start setting up camp so that you can claim as much space (of what little they give you) as possible. Flashlights or Headlamps (highly recommended) are a must especially if you are arriving at night.

Similar to what buttlovin said, I always try to get in line between 12a.m.-2a.m. Wednesday night/Thursday morning. As long as you do that, you should get a pretty good spot
