I'm a fan and I want to make it to this show, I'm just hoping that doesn't get screwed up by conflicts because I wanna see kinda ODESZA but there are many acts that I'd choose over Odesza
Ugh, jealous. I really want to see them, and Roo is the only opportunity I have in this coming year that I know of. But I agree that it is likely there will be some hard conflicts during their set.

This duo is pretty damn sweet, I'll admit it. Their show was PACKED with inconsiderate 20-year-olds which was pretty shitty but the show was crazy amounts of fun. Just dance around and make space for yourself (the most underrated concert strategy among novices, etc) and you'll have a great time.

I saw and interviewed them in May of 2014, right before they started blowing up. They were really cool guys, their live set has a lot a improvisation and on-the-fly performing not common among many EDM acts.

I don't know which show you're referring to, but I'm assuming their show in october.
fuck that crowd. sketchiest fucking crowd I've ever been in at a show. some punk stole my wallet out of my purse. I figured out it was him, followed him up the stairs confronted him, and he took off. some first ave security guy tackled him at the bottom of the stairs. I was with the cops for almost that entire show. so yeah, fuck that crowd at that show.

Funny, considering you're "smellycat" I'd assume you act less like a rat!

When was it that they blew up? I have to admit I had only heard of them offhand once or twice before the lineup dropped.

Yeah it was that show at First Ave. I'm sorry you had such a shitty time with those assholes. Me and this random dude who had claimed pretty nice spots had to get real formidable with people trying to pull that, "My friend is right there" so that he and eight others behind him could move up schtick. I had to get rough with some strangers, but I was tired of people hitting me so that they could move up. Maybe not the best mentality, but at shows like that you sorta have to be that way, particularly 'cause I look young. I don't take shit from strangers very well. Clearly you dealt with the even worse end of that deal. We should definitely hit up a show together sometime, no one would fuck with either of us.

those twerps thought they could fuck with the little, innocent looking, slightly drunk girl in the crowd. they clearly didn't realize how feisty I am!
also. I'll be at the dr dog your sig claims to be going to! if the crowd is anything like they were the last time dr dog was at first ave (drunkest first ave crowd I've ever encountered) we might need some reinforcements. I'm going to their turf club show thursday too - which I am SOOO excited for.
but anyway. I've seen odesza 3 times. though one of those times was the wallet incident, so more like 2.5 times.
they're great. it's such a fun fun show, and they've only improved since I first saw them in... actually, just looked - it was exactly a year ago yesterday that I first saw them! the amount they've blown up this last year is insane, but I love their style of electronic music, so I'm super happy about it.

I usually bring brass knuckles, but to each his own.
Cherub was real rowdy. I definitely hung back for that one.
So the crowds at Odesza shows are generally wasted 20 year olds? Ugh that's a shame. If only Odesza could get a LN spot that coincides with Bassnectar (unlikely, I realize), and then the aforementioned crowd can slobber and stumble their way over to Which for bassbassbass.

I'd say they started picking up steam over summer, especially toward the end of summer when their album released. They're on a ton of festival lineups this year, and I know they're selling out a lot of dates on their tour.

I heard Jungle and Phox playing in the bar attached to the theater I work in, so I'm not too mad about it.
Also, if my employers let me off, I'll fly down to Iowa City to see Odesza with a long-time great friend of mine on the 25th. Gotta love spontaneous decision making.
