The two had worked together on other projects previously. Their music caught attention to UK record company which released their single 'Shelter Song'. In February 2014 their debut album Sun Structures was released. They followed that up with a headlining tour with fellow 2015 Bonnaroo artist The Districts. Suggested Listening I'd suggest giving Sun Structures a listening in full. If you like retro psychedelic rock you should enjoy it and you can catch up on all their music in under and hour.
Psychical Recreation / Live Show I see this being a pretty chill set with most of their songs being pretty mellow. Some dancing will be happening with chances of seeing someone totally psyching out during the show. From the videos I have seen I have been impressed with how polished the band sounds live especially considering they have only been performing as a live band for a year.
Interesting Facts Noel Gallagher (Oasis) was quoted in interview criticizing BBC for not giving them playtime as he felt the band deserved. "There's great records coming out this year you're not going to hear on the radio. Temples. Jagwar Ma. Great stuff, but it's on a lower level. It's not on the battleground. You have to be in that world to hear it." source
Personal Notes Since I tend to gravitate to a lot of psychedelic music I came across Sun Structures last year and immediately enjoyed the album. There is some good performances and song writing here. They are very much a revivalist kind of psychedelic band. Depending on listener that can be either a positive or a negative. Even though songs like Move with the Seasons is a very practical 60's psych pop song you could imagine hippies dancing in a field to, it is enjoyable but definitely not forward thinking. But overall if you like psychedelic music you should give them a try. It will be interesting to see where the band goes from here.
