An Ohio State loss would make this a pleasant day.
My whole family is from Michigan, I grew up hating Ohio state. And I don't think any TN (or SEC, really) fan doesn't like seeing Urban Mayer lose. And I'm on the positive side of ambivalent when it comes to VaTech. So, go hokies.
Real bummer about their QB. Losing a senior QB in a (big) season opener is rough.
Me and my brother were lucky for the game last night. Our great-uncle is a season-ticket holder/donor for Virginia Tech athletics (him and his son are alums). He has 4 tickets on the 50 - 5 rows up...and 2 tickets on the 25 that are 3 rows up. I have only had the tickets on the 50 once before last night. Him and his wife are in the 70s, not much for late games.
As far as the game, it's a shame Brewer was injuried. The offense was moving the ball against OSU in the 2nd quarter. I don't think they had the fire-power to keep with OSU late in the game even if Brewer was playing, but nevertheless....it was a bummer. Motley is a local boy (guy who filled in for Brewer)...he played high-school football less than 10 miles away from Lane Stadium, but he is nothing more than a wildcat QB.
As far as OSU, that offense is pretty damn impressive. Jones/Elliot/Miller are all electric playmakers and that O-line is solid. Kendall Fuller (DB for Hokies) is a projected 1st round pick...OSU made him look awful.
And, the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Year is out for the season. Dammit, that guy was fun to watch. Hail to Pitt.
Doesnt guarantee, but increases the chance Connor will be back next year. Silver lining I guess.
You are forgetting who we root for. It didn't stop NFL Hall of Famer Curtis Martin from leaving for the league. How many great players have played 4 years at Pitt recently? Guys who didn't include Revis, Fitz, Shady, Dion Lewis, Antonio Bryant, and soon to be Tyler Boyd. I hope you're right, I just will believe it when I see it.

Deep down I know you're right. I just wanted something to be optimistic about in this disaster of a situation lol
I thought the same thing, though MacKenzie only played last week during garbage time (Tuttle was in some in the first half). OU's O-line isn't supposed to be anything special, so hopefully this doesn't throw anything off for us.
That one should have never stopped. Same with Texas and A&M. I can't believe they let that happen. It's actually a law in SC that Clemson and SC have to play each other.
The Brawl is coming back in 2022! With this 4 year series, the 4 year series with State Penn starting next year, Syracuse being our ACC crossover, and continuing to play Notre Dame, we are getting more rivalry games, which is a great thing.
Out of a few bad trends in college football (realignment, tv contracts, neutral site games, etc), in my opinion the proliferation of bought games on the schedule is the biggest concern. Fans don't want to see Pitt-Youngstown St. Fans do want to see Pitt-WVU. We need more of these games.

I was just commenting on that with ncbst3 that's another game that should be played every year.

ACC makes zero sense for us but at least they were decent games from a conference standpoint. Our non-conference schedule is garbage but WVU, PSU, Tennessee and ND here and there is righting the ship. Backyard brawl is really what got me into college football. So happy to see it back.

I agree that Pitt being in the ACC makes no sense for football. There are no natural rivalries there. That move was made based on basketball only.

Oh, you don't know how much Pitt hates BC! With BC, Syracuse (now, obviously), Miami, and Va Tech - aka the old Big East schools - there are a few more rivals and more than there were when the Big East was on its last legs. I love being in the ACC - now for the power vacuum in the Coastal to fill and for Clemson and FSU to be good in the same years and other programs just not embarassingly bad, the conference is on the upswing I think (I like what NC St is doing, for example). H2P!
