Spurrier changed qb's again also. I'm pretty much agreeing with the people that say if you have more than one qb, you really don't have one. Even at Ohio St. This year it isn't going very well. It only works when it happens by necessity, like last year with their injuries.
I feel super bad for Jeremy. He's been the QB in waiting for years and then comes out and goofs it. I mean obviously it's on him but it still sucks. All signs point to it just being a confidence issue with him, e.g.
And if that is true then that means this Malzahn quote is kinda some serious shade
I’m looking forward to seeing Sean. He’s a guy that can flat out throw it. He can run it, too. He’s got that little air of confidence that quarterbacks have.

I feel like you're misapplying that adage in terms of Auburn. If you have more than one quarterback, you have none, in my view, has always more applied to repeatedly going back and forth between two or more in the same game without ever really choosing a starter. The classic Tennessee example was with Peyton Manning and Brandon Stewart back in the day. Eventually, Fulmer had to pick one. Malzahn gave Johnson time to turn it around. He didn't. As a coach, you have to make that call as to when things aren't looking to get better and move on. Johnson leads the SEC in interceptions right now and has taken a ton of heat as the biggest reason why the offense has struggled. The only way I start to get fuzzy on Malzahn's decision is if he pulls White early in this game in favor of Johnson. As far as Ohio State though, I agree. Meyer needs to make a decision. If you pull a quarterback in consecutive games, you really have to stay thinking about if that is the guy you really want to start.

You're assuming this is the final move. I think they'll probably go back to Johnson eventually.

Which is fine if White struggles over multiple games. Sometimes, you end up having to go with your least shitty player (like Spurrier is going to have to end up doing) rather than a great player. Like I said, I only get sketchy on this if they pull White this game at the first sign of him struggling. If you give Johnson chances, you have to do the same for White.

My biggest fear is White does really well then gets hurt and we revert back to JJ.
And I mean that genuinely. It worries me more than my student loan death.
He's a Mizzou fan/student, they haven't lost yet. That's the real answer, though I watched every snap of that 9-6 UConn debacle and the only thing clear from that is we all lost.
My bad, thought that was an Auburn fan. Missouri shouldn't be ranked either.
I've been a member of this forum for over a year and I think that was the first time I've been outright dehumanized.

I didn't want Jeremy to be replaced, but it had to be done. Jeremy has some serious confidence issues. I think he listened to all the media hype and everyone saying he was the next Cam Newton, and he caved under the expectations. The other serious rumor going around is that the receivers, especially Duke Williams, have lost all confidence in JJ. The difference between Johnson and White is now that White has absolutely zero expectations, at least out of me. He can't do much worse than Johnson. And it's good thing to do it now, on a home game, than on the road (though I do think they should have put him in the 2nd half, at least the 4th quarter, to get some real gametime reps). If he comes in and does well, we may have a chance to salvage this season; if he doesn't, then it's not like playing Jeremy would be any different.

As far as I can remember, Spurrier is the only coach that the two QB system actually worked for. (See FSU vs UF 1997)
And Dave, how you doing this week? See you Saturday!

Nervous. As I know I and Lawn Gnome have said previously this year, I would rate Florida as Tennessee's most important game this year. Florida currently has the longest win streak against Tennessee (yes, even longer than Alabama). The thing Jones has to start doing this year is pulling out victories in those big games in order to show that he is putting all that recruiting momentum into something on the field. He already blew that once with the Oklahoma game. If they stumble again against Florida, it starts to set a bad tone for the rest of the season and no 40 point victory over some bottom tier team is going to erase that.
P.S. In case you were curious, Florida is hovering at a 1.5 to 2 point favorite which I am largely putting on that the game is in Gainesville.

Well that is understandable and I can smell that pressure from here. That Oklahoma game hurt, I assume the kids got relaxed, I guess that eventually falls back on coaching, but still. Also, I wanted to mention how I respect the Checkerboard fans in Neyland stands, it brings everyone to the same page. It is a small detail, but holds huge boost in team spirit. So, in other words I am happy as fuck I do not have to see that shit this weekend and You too Lawn Gnome Go Gators! I mean
Glad this is a home game. I think our offense as a whole, will learn a lot from last week. The OL is young and experience is an issue, that showed against UK. When that improves and KT21 finds it, Gators win, or the special teams will need to make a play. Really glad this game is at home.
Interesting fact: After UT, 3 of the next 4 games are against an opponent rank in the top 10, with 4th team in the top 25, and FSU at the end of the schedule and ranked top 10. We need this to be a home game.

Just looking at the talent and matchups, if this were any other team I wouldn't be that worried (FL's defense does look impressive, though). But we always find a way to f*cking blow it against the Gators.
Oh well, as it has for the past 10 years, hope springs eternal. Go Vols!
Having 16 days off between games is weird. It should be an advantage though right? While we're off ND has to play twice (even if one of them is UMass).

I really enjoy watching the Thursday night games but would hate it if my team actually played in one.

There's pros and cons. At one point, everyone gets rested and some of the minor injuries can get fully healed. On the other, you're not playing in actual game situations for a longer period, so they may have a touch of rust in the first quarter or so. Specific to this situation, it gives ND's new QB a chance to get more experience under his belt before you play each other which isn't good for the Tigers.

Thur games are not bad but it's weird to have a bye the next week. They've had bye weeks before a Thur. game before and I know that's beneficial. Not sure about this one.

I already had that thought about it giving their QB more experience. I don't like that part of it.
Original report apparently says two other players have also been suspended but no names have been given.
Beat me to it. Assuming that Hargreaves III isn't the other player (which would be catastrophic) this should limit the number of times we even have to throw the ball his way.

I love that top rate jean-shorts analyses in the comments.
"This is bad." "Yes, we need that player in his position."
Sometimes, I think it's time to take ole sang_xcx behind the barn and shoot him because of some of the mess he spews all over this thread. Then, I read some comments on sports sites and realize that, while he is no doubt terrible, he is still a solid notch above those commenters.

I listen to sports radio every day and trust me I'm not near as bad as those people.

True facts. The shit people come up with on sports radio is insane. The guy in my department I used to talk football with before he retired used to quote callers all the time. I just wanted to smack him for thinking it was at all plausible.
Harris and Tabor suspended for doing what most of us do on a daily basis. Toke. SMH!! Well I hate to see this, but as long as QB Grier stays healty this might not hurt us too bad on Saturday. I am happy to see coach Mac not putting up with shit. I believe marijuana smoking is not an issue, but it is against the rules and rules are rules. Quack!!!!
