This is the best Florida has looked since Meyer has left. Made a statement in the first half, need to keep the throttle down.
Have seen a lot of things the past 4 weeks, things that have not happened in a long time. Keeping the foot on the gas and playing to win rather than playing to NOT lose, it is something I am more than excited about, as I am for usage tight ends. Only issue, I believe in going for 2 only when needed and not when trying to make up for a missed kick. Other than that; defense was on point, offense played with confidence, and the ball bounced our way. Young team, but they looked good tonight! Go Gators!
I got waaaay too annoyed by the "Rudy wasn't offsides" sign. Really man? That's the BEST you can come up with?
someone on r/cfb lost a bet over Notre Dame/GTech and had that as his "signature" on all his posts for the past week. I assumed it was a reference to that.
Ohhhhh ok that makes way more sense. I hadn't noticed that on there. It just really bothered me that someone sat down to make a sign, thought real hard and then that was the best they could come up with.
Notre Dame fell much further than I expected them to. Siggy and I both said in chat last night that we wouldn't have been surprised to see them still in the Top 10 despite the loss because of the close loss. BTW, Clemson and ND are in the same spots in the AP poll.
Through 30 games Butch Jones has the same record as Dooley 14-16. You have way more talent now. What's going on?
I think this loss really affects the narrative response on this. Before, you could drop something about the apparent trends of the team under the two coaches. Dooley's ship was slowly sinking whereas Jones' was steadily rising. Despite the heartbreaking nature of the first two losses, Tennessee was the underdog in both, so it's harder to use them as a way to question what Jones has going on (despite some sketchy calls in there). The Arkansas game is different. Tennessee was a 7 to 7.5 point favorite, and the game was at home. They should have taken that game especially when you are able to jump out to a 14 point lead. My first thought was to point out that Maggitt was/is hurt, but whereas the defense did get beat up on the ground and time of possession, they didn't give up a ton of points in the game overall. For me, that leads me to more look towards the offense. stinky has already pointed the first deserved finger toward Debord. Dobbs has been struggling, and I wonder if Debord and Jones are using him as effectively as they could. Also, one of the things that some are forgetting is that Tennessee's WR1 and WR2 (North and Howard) are out, and the WR3 (Pearson) spent a vast majority of the offseason away from the team due to his legal issues. It's going to be difficult to get things going with a position group that banged up. Honestly, I didn't watch much of yesterday's game, so I am going off what I have seen in reactions after the game. I still think people who are calling for Jones to get fired are jumping the gun by a large margin, but he really needs to start looking at what he is doing because it isn't working so far this season. I will be interested to see how the remainder of this season goes as this is the first time in his tenure that Jones has really had to weather a storm because of on the field performance. Is he going to rally the troops or is he going to fold under the scrutiny? This is a thought especially at the forefront as we head into next week where Tennessee has another home game against a Georgia team that is fresh off getting humiliated by Alabama and therefore has a lot to prove. If Tennessee gets blown out, things are going to get real nasty around Knoxville.

I meant to add this last night. It's more mythology then any kind of analysis but Georgia almost always turns into a powerhouse for a few games after they fuck their season up. It happens almost every year. They lose one big game and cruse along to end up with a respectable record. They rarely totally fold. What's funny is those losing games used to be against Tenn and/or Florida. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we won both of those games fairly easily. That's not bragging. It's just typical of Georgia to have their shit together after they've blown a shot at the big bowls/championship.

I forgot to add that Jones extra fucked up because, with Oklahoma winning and Florida kicking the fuck out of Ole Miss, those losses would have been much easier to minimize since they were close and against quality teams. That went out the window though when he lost to 1-3 team though.

sang_xcx/custeph/Siggy, have you seen the internet theories that ESPN cut away from Dabo's postgame speech because he mentioned the "Good Lord"? I love the internet.
Also, I would just generally say that the more interviews I see with him, the more I appreciate him because he appears to be a wonderfully odd guy.

I thought he (or someone nearby) started cussing, and ESPN scrambled to break away from it.

The closest Dabo gets to cussing on tv is probably "dadgum". I have no idea what happened, because I was at the game.

I saw those and all I could think was how many sports interviews involve thanking god? Pretty much 90%. The other 10% only thank the team.

Either he was rambling, which he was, or there was cussing. It cut after he mentioned his dad, which was after he mention God. I assume being live, there is a 7 sec delay and whatever happened on that field durng that interview was cut out. It had nothing to do with him giving credit to God. I watched the interview and kept waiting for the two at the desk to do something. Lol.
Duke Williams has been officially dismissed from Auburn's football team.
Edit: It says something about his tenure with the team that the most common reaction seems to around "figures" or "surprised it took this long" rather than any kind of outrage or disagreement.

He built up a lot of good will really quickly then squandered it. He's been loafing on routes and blocks this season and if he really is causing that much of a stir in the locker room then yea, it's better that he's gone. Not to mention the pain of loosing Duke is kind of eased by our quarterback situation this year. It would've been a whole different story if Nick Marshall lost his best target instead of Sean White.
It's immensely disappointing because I feel like the whole fan base really wanted him to be one of the all-time greats. Hopefully he spends all his spare time getting NFL ready but we'll see.
