Yeah LD. It was like a party storm because it was so quick of an event. All 4 of my siblings (50ish mile radius) lost power. I heard about 20 transformers blow up. We did okay and only flickered, but power is out around our neighborhood except our close couple blocks. We had sustained into the upper 40’s and maybe gusts into the 60’s. Crazy but manageable. I’ve been going at it 100 since 2, so it’s probably close to bed time.
Here's a photo of inside the eye in New Orleans taken by meteorologist Dylan Federico. It was orange by me, but we didn't have a horizon view from the house, but since the eye (clouded) passed over close to sunset, it was pretty cool even if it looks a little like hell.

It's so weird to have power during/after a hurricane, I've never experienced that before. It makes me forget that 90% of the city is shutdown. I tried to do stuff unsuccessfully.
It's also weird that it's not balls hot for those without power. We're in the 50/60s today. I had my windows down while trying to unsuccessfully do stuff.
It’s cold as fuck here and only 50. Windy and damp making it feel way colder than it is. I hope y’all from middle PA up through the NE get blasted without any major issues. Looks like one of the heaviest snowing systems for some places in a while.

I am grateful for the pandemic pushing me to work from home because now that the snow has come, I didn’t have to wake up extra early to dig out my car and try to get work.
Not sure why the city thinks WFH is an option for plow drivers though. Kinda be cool if they would come through to clear out the TWO FEET of snow covering the road and drop a little salt/sand.

I guess this isn't something I should be bitching about per se. It's nice to be able to go to the park with the kids. I've only worn pants once since I quit going into work in March.
But we just had a summer with 40+ days in a row over 110. High tomorrow is 71. We haven't gone below 40 this winter. Shiz is getting crazy out here in the desert.
we haven't had any highs in single digits yet in MN either. very mild winter so far
It’s been suck here for about 10 days. All the highs have been 40’s or 50’s except last Thursday. This week looks excellent with us getting back to 60 tomorrow and then hopefully into the low 70’s by mid week. My fn apartment has very high ceilings and is impossible to heat. So I’m pretty happy this shit is going to end soon.
According to the GFS model, it looks like an ice and snow storm is going to break out Monday in deep South Texas and affect most of eastern Texas, SE TX, SW/LA and all the way to the Gulf Coast of possibly Alabama. A front comes through and then a low forms in the Gulf off Northern Mexico or S TX and moves up ENE to the coast. GFS shows that it's a pattern that repeats, so it's possible we could see 2 ice/snow storms next week which will be the first time in several years for sure. I may be a little too far east in NWFL to get any, but the rest of you need to be prepared for power outages, slippery roads and all the shit we usually don't have to worry about.
Here's the GFS 18z run valid for Monday afternoon at 1pm. Below that is the link to the model at Tropical Tidbits. You can hit the "play" arrow button to run the model forward.
Yeah I've seen lows in the forecast here as low as 19 on Monday and 13 on Tuesday. Yikes. Looked up the historical data and it hasn't been 13 or lower in Houston in my lifetime.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
