it seems i might be out of the woods (which I've already said before) but going on having power over 12 hrs for the first time since Monday
Do you have water. I have power but they shut off my water last night with no word of when it will come back. Apparently austin water usage went up 250% because they told everyone to drip their faucets. Last night I saw that we were now being told not to drip them and then the water just got shut off
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

yeah I haven't had any issues, we dripped for a couple of days, then shut off for a night/day, reopened it last night, and now that powers back im less worried about busts. I've been keeping my eye on my meter to make sure it's not running when the faucets are off, get an all clear that there's no leaks, and then turn them back on
Still no water for me. Was able to make it down the street to the gas station for water and snacks. They were cash only. Definitely not leaving again till Friday at the earliest. Still feeling so lucky to have kept power the whole time.
Mount Washington, the highest point in New Hampshire, sees some pretty brutal weather. The cold weather and strong winds which rolled through the Northeast last night, it was much worse up there.
They’re saying we’re going to get 1-3ft of snow this weekend. Either this number is drastically overestimated, or work needs to shut down. I’m not attempting to drive in that shit!
Ended up being off about 7 hrs. Which isn’t bad, but like I said I’m still freaked out! Lol
When I first moved into my rental (Nov 2013), I woke up one morning early in February 2014 to no water. I thought the pipes froze (it was freezing), when it warmed up and it didn't come back on, I started freaking out.
Turned out the people who rented before me, called the water board and requested it to be turned off (regardless that it was in someone else's name and a new account). It took us HOURS to figure it out. The water board told us it would be two days before they could have someone turn it back on, so we went to home depot and bought one of those water meter keys and did it ourselves. How can you expect someone to live without water? So sorry, you had to deal with 7 hours without. I am very glad it is back on for you.
You almost never see High Risk (Level 5) for the chance of tornadoes and severe storms. The High Threat area references Birmingham, Jackson, Tuscaloosa, Hoover and Meridian with the Moderate Threat (Level 4) for Memphis, Montgomery, Little Rock and Jonesboro. The threat isn't really for EF1's. This type of threat can lead to long lived strong tornadoes that can stay on the ground for more than a couple minutes.
Day 2 (Thursday) shows a Moderate threat (Level 4) from Georgia through most of South Carolina and the eastern half of North Carolina. Specific cities mentioned are Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Savannah, Fayetteville with Enhanced risk (Level 3) in Atlanta, Norfolk, Greensboro, Chesapeake and Winston-Salem.

I'm so very upset that we had a Winter of Disappointment, NO GOOD SNOW here in the Triangle (NC), and yet March now is bringing this bullshit? Ugh.
I plan to pile myself and my kitkats into the car tomorrow afternoon and head over to my parents' the town over because they've got a big basement. and I am NOT tryna ride out bands of tornadoes/severe wind gusts from my small, very windowed cottage.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
This is from the Storm Prediction Center at NOAA. If you mouse/scroll/finger over the categories in the top left (tornado, wind, hail) it actually shows what the percentage coverings of those areas are. For instance, if 30% hail, it can be expected that about 30% of that area will receive hail. Stay safe up there! I feel like today was a more likely setup (and tonight), and there have been many tornadoes across Mississippi and Alabama. Currently, there are only 1 or 2 active tornado warnings, but there were 5 or 6 of them 10 minutes ago. Should be plenty more tonight. The main line is almost to New Orleans. I don't think we'll see that much in Florida except some wins. Here's the national overview of the current NWS warnings. www.weather.gov/
No bitch today. It’s mid 60’s and sunny in NW Florida. I went down to the dog beach (on the bayou) to watch the dogs getting at it since ours are in New Orleans right now. Saoirse has been in heat the last few days so it’s just as well since the P’cola house has carpet. I’m hoping to teach her to swim this year when she’s down here. Last time she went in the water she was hopping to stay up, but it was her first time. They had about 12 dogs playing, and except for one little skirmish, it was a happy scene. I think Tux (Tuxy) is going back to his home this week. His dad is invalid out of nowhere, but we brought Tux to see him at the rehab hospital and he immediately went to kissing him and J was audibly laughing which is cool and intense because he can’t speak anymore - at least for now. If they can’t handle or care for him, we will take him back. He is ultra sweet.
Monie how is the weather? I heard about flooding and evacuations and houses floating away. I know you are near a beach, hopefully on the other side of the country.

It's on our side of the country. We're in Sydney, the flooding is happening pretty much from Brisbane and down the coast south to like Wollongong (spoiler'd map for reference). We are fine though. It's been raining heavily since like Thursday, but here in the city the flooding is mostly just over run drains and side walks. I haven't been outside the eastern suburbs too much, so idk how bad the roads are in some places. But I have a friend in Queensland and her street is basically a running river now. She's been stuck inside her house for two days bc she can't leave due to flooding. Luckily we had a bit of warning on this so she's good and has food and power, but yea. It's been pretty wild. I have class tomorrow out west where the flooding has been pretty bad, so it'll be interesting to see how the roads and things are out there. It's supposed to clear up tomorrow too, so hopefully that sticks (esp since it's also Jack's birthday, so it'd be nice to be able to actually leave the house for his bday this year since it got corona'd last year lol).

Oh shit. Well fingers crossed it actually stops. I am glad that you are good (and your friend). Stay safe and if the water is too high don't go through it.

Tornado just passed within a mile of my apartment. Trying to get my dog into the bathroom was a giant pain; she was terrified not of the storm but of the idea I might be giving her a bath
