I picked MMJ and that's probably what I will do. But I am considering picking up a ticket for their Raleigh date. If the superjam ends up having Jim James and crew in it I will more than likely be at Atomic Bomb. I know I am going to go back and forth until roo (considering I just did a couple times in this post) maybe I will just flip a coin or something the day of.
Originally I was going to MMJ and then catch the end of Atomic Bomb followed by the end of SBTRKT. Last night I changed my mind and decide I'll catch all Of Gary Clark Jr. then all of Atomic Bomb then the end of SBTRKT. I still hope to catch some of Jamie xx before Gary then head over to Which as or a little after he starts. I expect to have more chances to see MMJ this year, namely at ACL. That would probably only be a 90 minute set as well, if that. It would be the coolest thing for me if they got an ACL aftershows at Stubb's.
All of this is likely to change right up until the Jacket set begins at Roo.
This may be my plan as of tomorrow or the next day. I hate this conflict the most of all of the conflicts. My heart tells me I can't miss MMJ. I've never seen them live and I'd want my first live MMJ show to be at Bonnaroo. But I really started liking SBTRKT over the past year and had been looking forward to enjoying that whole show. So I'm with you fuzz, I may not decide until I'm walking through Centeroo and just go whichever direction the wind takes me.

Now, if I had never seen MMJ but enjoyed their music and heard tons of people saying how good they were live, I'd most likely go to that show. I would still be able to catch a good portion of SBTRKT afterwards. Gary's show seems special to me because I watched him playing on the streets of Austin, saw him get some recognition from the movie Honeydripper, play a Roo cafe set, blow up in popularity after the Crossroads performance, then play a really good early day What set at Roo. By skipping MMJ I can see his entire set plus all of Atomic Bomb!
I usually have to google acronyms a bunch of times before I remember what they mean. I have not reached the point yet with FOMO. Still Googling.
Fear Of Missing Out, I think.
Over on the jazzfest forums they call it FOMS, or Fear Of Missing Something, which once you are at the festival turns into ROMS, or Reality Of Missing Something. They are handy acronyms for obsessive festival planners.

Ha. I like the progression. All we know is we all will be missing out Saturday night.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
This. Jamie xx matters for setting yourself up for the rest of the conflict. My plan at this point is poor but will shift on my mood. Jamie xx (full) > Belle & Sebastian (partial) > Childish Gambino. Maybe sub in Atomic Bomb instead. Don't think I'll stay for SBTRKT.
I hate missing MMJ, but I've also told myself it's not worth seeing a partial set of theirs. I'm seeing them in a theatre the week after Roo -- not the same, but it'll do.
I've seen Gary Clark, Jr., before and recommend him, but not so much that I plan to go again. Wish he was earlier in the day. Would be a great stage/tent opener.
I don't know whether I should be happy that the Atomic Bomb! band is getting the recognition it deserves, or sad that this means it will be more crowded. Then again, inforoo doesn't represent the general population so idk what to think of these numbers. Anyways, this poll is neat, I enjoy seeing all your choices, and I wouldn't mind seeing one of these for Friday night LN...
I changed my vote to MMJ. I was gonna do Jamie XX > Atomic Bomb, because I'm intrigued by Jamie and y'all got me hyped for Atomic Bomb, but truthfully MMJ is one of the few bands I've been genuinely excited for, and I can't miss them even though I'm seeing them again in July. Gotta follow my gut with this one.
atomic bomb because when the hell else will I get to see it?!
My thoughts exactly. Although I still might be very easily tempted to go to MMJ. Conflict sucks but at least you can't really go wrong with who you choose.
I finally decided on Gary Clark Jr > Atomic Bomb. I hate to miss My Morning Jacket, but I am seeing them in late July. I'm a big fan of GC Jr live, and, as others have said, when the hell else am I going to get to catch Atomic Bomb? Was really looking forward to Belle & Sebastian and wanted to see Childish Gambino, too, but it is what it is. I finally decided it was time to choose and get the hell over it.
Just thought it would be interesting in get some numbers on this.
Note I only included sets whose entire set time falls during this 2.5 hour window.
If you are catching the entire set of any one of these artists just mark that artist in the poll. So if you are catching the entire MMJ set then heading to SBTRKT or Atomic, mark MMJ as your answer. If you are catching the beginning of MMJ but heading to catch the entire Atomic set, then mark Atomic. Make sense?
Only mark the split option if you are not catching the entire set of any of the artists listed.
Atomic Bomb is going to be the Nick Cave of this year. Everyone on inforoo is wicked pumped for it but the tent won't even be half full .
I stopped by Nick Cave last year and felt really, really bad. Like it was almost embarrassing.
It was awesome! Nick even commented on the lack of attendance, by saying the audience must be "the cream of the mother fucking crop". Ended up being the 2nd best show I saw all weekend. No regrets!
Atomic Bomb! As much as I hate to miss MMJ, those guys will back at Roo one year. The same cannot be said for Atomic Bomb.
Sad, this conflict makes me.
This is ultimately my thought process.
I also have tickets for the back to back shows in Columbus the following week for MMJ.... Which would make me feel even sillier for not seeing Atomic Bomb!
This timeslot is quickly headed for the Bonnaroo Conflict Hall of Fame, largely because it makes two of my cardinal Roo rules incompatible (never miss an MMJ Bonnaroo set, and never miss an intriguing superjam). With that kind of dance music, Onyeabor really should have been late-night. C'mon, Roo - just push superjam back an hour and let Atomic Bomb open the Other Tent.
I have seen MMJ about twelve times, two of those being at Bonnaroo ('08 & '11). Both of those sets are among the best Jacket shows I've seen. I've listened to their bootlegs from other years, and they've never put on an average show at Roo. If I were going, I would see all of MMJ and then bolt over for the last 20 minutes of Atomic Bomb, but I wouldn't be happy about it (just kidding - I'd be thrilled to be at Bonnaroo, you lucky ducks).
I'm still kicking myself over missing Atomic Bomb in January, but it was right after buying some spendy fest tickets. Can't win 'em all.
In the end what kills me most is this will likely be my only chance to see Atomic Bomb! like others. And I originally heard about it through David Byrne tourin' with them. So I too am conflicted, but without DB I think I must go MMJ. If they haven't started throwin' down by the 45-50 minute mark I might book it. I can see a full MMJ set in Raleigh in July.
