2008 I had neighbors playing Metallica at 3:30 a.m. as loud as possible. I could barely stay conscious but they were nice enough to turn it down when I asked.
Never really had any other issues.
Metallica in 08 was one of my all time favorite shows. Happily, things weren't too loud at 3:30 A.M. at Dr. Rumack.
Same to report as everyone else. 6th Roo, never had a bad neighbor. I've never experienced Community like you experience on the farm. Once you go, you will see what everyone means. Edt: Sometimes you even luck out with REALLY AWESOME neighbors like roro!! And they offer you breakfast burritos and give you beer!
We had a great time last year with our new-found friends. It's going to really hurt not being there this year. Be sure to post pics, and have a good time for us!
I'll have a burrito and a coffee porter for breakfast Friday for you guys. And, maybe a cigar.
Edit to add that we have only been to two Roo's, but had GREAT neighbors each time. It really is a matter of being a good neighbor yourself, in most cases. Karma is very strong at Bonnaroo -- make sure your's is good. We took an extra mallet, just in case others forgot (which they did). I always carry extra lighters, just in case. And earplugs take care of snoring.

Ive been 4 times, and every year I've been camped next to an extremely loud snorer. I don't know what it is, music and bass all night doesn't bother me, but snoring drives me insane. They've all been on the left of me, and none of them have ever said a word, even when I would say hi. It's weird. My right hand neighbors have always been pretty sociable and nice, though.
Across the way we had neighbors we named Douchebaggery and the Nocturnal Emissions. It was about 8 dudes in two RV's. They wore "Getting the band back together - Roo15" shirts on Friday. Their late night shenanigans were not appreciated: a PA with EDM at 4 AM + construction halogen lights shining on the road/path to play horn hole along with their 4 AM EDM. I asked them more than one turn turn their music down a bit and reposition their lights - several others did as well. They wouldn't. I considered going over when they were asleep (10AM) and cutting the cords to their PA and lights. I didn't. I also considered slashing their RV tires, punching them in the throat, and pouring out all their beer. I didn't. I didn't want to end up being the crappy neighbor by committing acts of violence. Radiate positivity folks...radiate positivity.
We had a great set of neighbors. One literally stayed under their canopy and smoked until sundown. The other was the biggest duo of druggiesI've ever experienced. Each and every day, they would wake up, have a couple hot dogs for breakfast, shotgun a beer, and take gravity hits (they filled up a giant rubbermaid container with water and brought in a water cooler). They always offered us a hit, but 9 AM is a little too early for me. They also had a garbage bag full of other goodies. They would come back middle of the day, pass out, and do it all again an hour later.

not sure if it was neighbors or not, but I had two inflatable couches and an air mattress slashed sometime Friday night. first time anything has happened to me like that in my 7 Roos. it sucked. I ended up going to get fucked up with my friends from Chicago in their canopy all day Saturday to try and forget about it. it worked. what can ya do.
I love to camp, but I also like my creature comforts so I had a 10x10 canopy with 70% aluminet shade cloth panels to block the sun. Also had my new hammock, and solar panels charging a portable dc work station. I was in volunteer camping at the end of the row by the chain link boundary, and had about 10 very young neighbors (all around 20 years old) who had ridden the Greyhound in so all they had were little backbacking tents. They very politely asked if they could sit under my shelter, and THEN you should have seen their eyes light up when they saw my powerbox--their biggest worry was how to keep their cellphones charged, so all weekend long there was about 5 phones charging at a time, and kids wandering in and out all hours of the night and day. But they were great--they didn't eat any food I had brought unless I offered it to them, and because there were so many people hanging out none of our stuff got messed with! So if you want campsite security just "adopt" a bunch of young adults!

Your neighbors are what you make them out to be. If you go and confidently introduce yourself as if you aren't concerned with their opinion of you, they don't have much of a choice but to be friendly with you.
I'm not even a huge Metallica fan, but that show was def one of the best of that year's fest (nothing could top Pearl Jam > Sigur Ros though.)
Holy shit, I did not know that it went Pearl Jam -> Sigur Ros... That's a thing of beauty. It's combinations like that that make me hold bonnaroo above the competition (and why the change in LN scheduling this year makes me nervous)

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure Ghostland was after Sigur Ros. So it was actually PJ > Sigur Ros > Ghostland Observatory. 90% sure that's how it went. Def one of the best late nights in Roo history.

Yeah, I just went and looked. That night was pure bliss. Pearl jam -> Sigur Ross -> Ghostland Observatory sounds amazing and all the jamfans could go to Phil & Friends after PJ

Back when Bonnaroo booked jam bands. Oh, those were the days. When was the last time a jam band got late night Which? 2011 String Cheese Incident? Wow.
Phil and Friends actually had to end early that year because Kanye refused to go on when anyone else was playing LOL
Possibly only surpassed by 2006, Tom Petty into Umphrey's into My Morning Jacket.
Nah, PJ -> Sigur -> Ghostland easily wins that battle for me.
It's close for me, but yeah, the 08 one wins bc PJ is far better than Tom Petty and Sigur Ros is just perfect for otherworldliness. One of the happiest moments of my life happened during Gobbledigook, dancing with random strangers! And I didn't know who Ghostland was before that show - I literally bugged fucking face.

Damn, that's amazing. Also, addressing your statement about the last time they give a jam band a LN, I'm really expecting them to give a LN jam show this year. Perhaps even just finally giving the Roots the LN which they deserve. (I know it isn't a jam band but they can jam and get funky when they want)

if the pattern continues umphreys is due for a LN this year.
and sts9 these days aren't really thought of as a "jamband", but that is definitely the scene they come from.
i'd love to see what a younger band like dopapod could do with a LN tent. if the crowd at their thursday show is any indication they could slay fools.

Ehhhh, as much as I love Dopapod and would want that for them, they simply can't compare to the big names that get LN's nowadays. Like, they simply wouldn't draw enough of a crowd when put up against RTJ, FlyLo, Deadmau5, Flume, EWF, STS9 etc. The jam band I could see getting LN that hasn't already before is Lettuce (they played the hip hop SJ, but never solo)

It would have been awesome if they closed a Thursday tent and could play as long as they wanted though. Not technically competing with the big name late night sets but still a cool spot for them.
Roo needs some SCI LN next year. I'd take that over umphreys LN even.
I 2nd that even though it's probably on the wrong board. Superjam incident for the bluegrass Sunday is acceptable as well
My neighbors were just lame this year. Some stayed in the same lawn chair every time I stopped by. But I guess it's better then the techno loving Europeans I somehow usually end up with. But if I'm not spending 90% of my time in Centeroo, I feel like I'm wasting my day

My first Roo and easily the most amazing musical experience were these three back to back to back. And there were so few people at Ghostland because everyone was standing around waiting for Kanye. Such a great night.

That LN String Cheese set in 2011 was by far one of my most memorable experiences.
They had this woman being held by giant balloons in the middle of the Which crowd, with a flaming torch. Unbelievable. Also, a guy with LED lights or el wire flew on a jetpack behind Which stage, from the right side to the left. Honestly, a jet pack and flying moth lady? One of the best to date.
