thanks, a purpose built fake bottle makes sense. been a while since i snuck liquor into a festival/show/football game, guess the kids these days don't have the gumption to just duct tape a flask to your thighs.

I heard that I should pour out my camelback every time I walked through the line to centeroo and never did. They never made me pour it out at the checkpoint... so don't pour it out until they absolutely make you next year. I saw too many people doing this and felt sorry for them.

Or legs that are a bit too hairy... =/
Bungee cord. Or that kinky sex tape at the adult store. I've head it doesn't pull out hair.
The ice guy on shakedown street had sealed water and juice/ tea bottles full of moonshine. Nice! Was able to bring one into cetaroo, while expecting to taste water (and being ripped off)but alas was the real thing!
I went through the Clock Tower entrance every time, and while they were telling people to empty their water bottles and camelbaks, they never once checked my Hydro Flask water bottle, which had ice water in it every day, and they only barely looked in my backpack at anything, though I don't have a camelbak. I suppose if you did, they would immediately notice if the bladder was full.
I tried to go in with a full camelbak and I was told to empty it. But they didn't notice the 8 beers I had wrapped in a blanket in the same bag..... Pick your battles people.

I actually never had to pour out my Camelback the entire time. I went through the arch entrance every time except once late at night. They hardly even checked them at all when entering right around 5-6pm which was nice. Didn't even touch my bag most of the time.
The only problem I experienced was the What Stage entrance by VIP. There were several idiots telling people to empty their camelbaks and to go fill it up at the station a few yards away. I never emptied mine, nor did anyone else I was with.
It's outrageous though, emptying camelbaks to increase alcohol sales? I mean, I understand the relationship a company has with profitability, but even capps knows that you cannot compromise safety for profit.
Security had a lot of issues this year. Does anybody know if it was a different contract or management team?

I don't think it's so much about increasing alcohol sales as keeping people from bringing in copious amounts of hard alcohol.
And, yes, I think that they might have changed security this year. The definitely had a different guy running the bee-infested side of What this year than the dude who did it for the last four or five years. That's really anecdotal, I guess, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they did.

There's always a little bit of luck involved. But I must say that after three years I have never failed at getting a water bottle full of vodka through security every day of the festival. And if they ever tried to tell me to pour anything out I would politely refuse, walk away, and go through a different security line 10 minutes later. I am 22 years old, and I save/wait all year for Bonnaroo. If I want to get drunk, no one is going to stop me.

had several employees on the vendor + staff shuttles tell me that livenation made significant cuts to the security budget (seems like based on the sand availability and pricing in GA this year) so I would not be surprised if it were a different company

You would think they would be doing this only at night. During the day I would think most people are legitimately walking in with water but at night that's completely different
We buy Camo Caps on Amazon with security seals in tact. We cut off the old seals fill bottles with vodka & reseal. Never had any issue at any venue getting them in.
