I bought a pair of downbeats after I was front row for NIN and had a ringing in my ears for few days. It was miserable. These are small enough that you don't look like a complete goober with those pointy pieces of plastic poking out your ear. Case is solid in the fact that it clips on my go to festival bag so it's always there when I need it.

i would be terrified that those would get stuck in my ear canal. so tiny. generally i don't like double flanges, gotta have the triple flange.
i have to wear the large etymotics due to the girth of my ear canals. and i like to have the thread hanging off of them so I know they won't get sucked up into my brain.
everyone's mileage will vary, of course, whats important is we all find an earplug that works for us.
etys are the best cheap/easy ones, custom molded ones would be the way to go if i was willing to pay the money (more in an able scenario tbh), and downbeats are a good second choice?
i've always had relatively good hearing and a decade and hundreds of shows later I'm still doing pretty good with ringing/hearing, but D4N (specifically Arca) wrecked me last year, so I would maybe like to give it a shot.

They're cheap enough that they're worth a shot. They go pretty far in my ear, but I feel like even if the stem ever tore out I'd be able to get them out easy enough by just pinching the sides. They're comfortable enough, much more comfortable that the foam ones I'd wear when I was actually working for a living. It's probably in my head, but when i'm super close I prefer the sound with these in vs without. I always have them with me at shows, I only put them in when I'm close though. I haven't had the ear ringing problem since NIN. I'll stuff them in my ear later night and snap a picture. Flipping through the Amazon pics no one posted a picture with them actually in an ear.
Yeah I guess everyones ears are a little different, but I buy shirts with pictures of people in them that would look nothing like me wearing it, idk why more ear plug descriptions don't show that.

Bumping because you want to be able to hear and still enjoy the music 10 or 20+ years from now, too. Not too late to pick up a decent pair of ear plugs before you head to the farm.
As somebody with tinnitus and who has a hard time understanding conversations when there is background noise, I can tell you that this is something you don't want to mess around with. Start protecting your hearing BEFORE you have symptoms. I know you're gonna want to be in the pit at least sometimes, right?

I literally am the only one on the AV squad I work with that has a pair of Ety. ear plugs carabine-d to his belt loop at all times.
Nothing worse than losing your hearing as a sound specialist/recordist/technician.
