FF saw how well they did with a classic act like Paul, could see them offering a blank check to Bruce. I know Paul is on a different level compared to Bruce, but he is still a local legend. I could see Kendrick because FF has a history of snagging Roo acts a year late and giving them a bump. The Black Keys was 4th on the Roo bill in 2011, then 2nd on the FF bill in 2012. RHCP was 2nd on the Roo bill in 2012, then 1st on the FF bill in 2013. Imagine Dragons...well, gotta have the crowd pleasing repeat act.
Hopefully, FF waits till Imagine Dragons comes out with a third commercially successful album before they hand them a headliner slot, but who knows with their decision-making. I think FF made a sizable profit since they sold a single water bottle for the price of the case and 90k people went. Therefore, they will either spend big on three credible headliners, or get three flo's type headliners and load the rest of the lineup with quality acts. I can see them going legendary act/main stay alt rock band/edgey newcomer who has commercially sold well this year. Florence and the Machine, Alt J, St Vincent and Tame Impala have to be on the lineup. FF gets acts the next year after everyone else does.

got bored and made another, slightly less idealistic, tried to improve the billing order from last time and i firmly believe they should add a comedy stage.

I mean all of these bands were included in the artist poll this year (as well in past years). Maybe I am relying a little too much on the past Firefly lineups but I believe they are all definitely considered when choosing the lineup. If Tom Petty, RHCP, or Paul McCartney headline, The Who are definitely a possibility. In fact, The Who are one of the biggest rock bands in the world up there with Sir Paul, David Bowie, The Stones, U2, The Dead, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Metallica, etc (personally eclipsing most of those for me). Arcade Fire would be the biggest stretch, mainly because the price to get them to the amount of partygoers it may please is lackluster. The Dead Weather is definitely a possibility as Jack White headlined in 2012 and they will be cheaper to get, as well as coming out with a new album in September means they will tour. Bon Iver is also a possibility...I don't think you realize how many college kids would want to see Bon Iver cover that Birdy song "Skinny Love", plus having them would appease the hipster crowd. If Morrissey was here this year, The National can definitely be there next year (+ knock up Firefly's cred by having the greatest live band of all time perform). As for Florence and Disclosure, they are both all over the radio and touring new material which would make them the easiest decision for Firefly. So overall all my choices, albeit optimistic, are definitely possible.

I've said that since the lineup dropped. I'm not a fan of Morrissey...but I understand how popular he is and the legacy he has. Would be a great get for something like Roo, but a "swing and a miss" for FF.
I stopped over for a song or two before getting to RTJ. His draw was similar to Cold War Kids, and I'm being generous. The positive to it all was we all got to see RTJ and get a good spot for Sir Paul.

I saw some of 21 Pilots twice, and I walked away both times bored. Bastille is okay, but could they really assist in a two minute sellout of a 40-50k festival? I watched some of that set at Bonnaroo 2012 from an elevated spot and ended up turning the other way to watch Mac Miller who I don't really care about one way or another. Bon Iver was also boring.

I actually saw Morrissey, as getting a very close spot for Paul was my top priority for that part of the day. I had limited familiarity with his catalog, I know some Smiths songs and checked out his top solo stuff on Spotify. Outside of the Meat is Murder visuals, it was a really good show, despite the embarrassingly sized crowd. His vocals were on point, and he's obviously extremely comfortable and practiced up there.

Part of the reason why Morrissey was so out of place was because Red Frog stuffed this year's lineup with an abundance of radio-friendly, generic indie/alternative bands. Firefly's lineups have always featured a strong indie/alternative presence, but this year it felt like overkill. While Morrissey doesn't sit well with the festival's main demographic, I actually applaud them for going outside their comfort zone on this booking. Personally, I would like to see Red Frog target more legend acts and diversify their lineups like Coachella and Bonnaroo have.

Nah Cold War Kids were packed for a 3:30 slot. Started out around Morissey's size, and got well into the numbers around 3:50.

I just experienced my first Firefly this year, and I honestly think I enjoyed Firefly more than Roo in 2014. I saw some great acts at Bonnaroo in 2014, but I wasn't crazy about the tents at all. At Firefly, the stage proximity was really cool. Loved how easy it was to get close to an act, I mean I saw at least 40 min of RTJ, and still got 7 rows back from Paul McCartney. My main complaint with FF was obviously lack of water stations, if they fix that: this could become one of the big 3 fests in US. Depending on lineup next year between Roo and Firefly, that's where I'll be!

I don't disagree that the viewing areas from stages are pretty great, and that is an advantage that FF over Roo, but I have very little faith in their booking abilities. As in, keep dreaming on those wants like Radiohead and Tears for Fears and Santigold and James Blake etc etc

Eh, Santigold is not that exclusive, and I could easily see Firefly targeting acts like Florence, Alabama Shakes, The xx, The Decemberists, Porter Robinson, and Joywave. But I can't imagine Red Frog booking Kanye (if you think the Roo faithful dislike him, you should see what the Firefly faithful have to say about him), Radiohead, Tears for Fears, Death Grips, or Reginwolf. And please keep Dave Matthews away from festival lineups.
Every year peole speculate DMB. And the past two years they've done two nights at the Susquehanna Bank Center. If they can do two nights at an amphitheater they would more than likely wouldn't headline a festival so close to when they usually come. Drives me crazy ????
