They are disappointed in CHVRCHES being booked, saying they've been on the circuit too long despite them actually having new material to perform and doing very few US festivals last year. But HAIM is a "pleasant surprise" despite no new material in two years from them. Lauren has really grown as a performer and has increased her stage presence and the new album is a big enough sound to fill a stadium. If you saw them two years ago and not their new material, hugely recommend giving them another shot.
I don't know enough music-fanatics to know for sure, but COS is basically garbage right? Every time I read an article there I can't help but not care about anything it is saying.

I'm definitely going to plan on doing a day pass at this point. If Beck is on Saturday/Sunday then I'm going to do that day and see what other acts I can catch.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief
Well, I live not too far from a train station. I take that train to the city. Train gets into Penn Station. From there, I take a subway or two. From there, I just walk over a bridge and I'm at Randall's Island. Hour and a half commute, really.
Fair enough. I don't consider a 3 hour round trip commute for 3 days in a row to be a place that's "fairly easy to get to." Maybe I'm just high strung....

Oh its not you Jim. Coming from jersey is not easy nor enjoyable. Especially if you plan on doing any of the aftershows. The last couple of years I've only done day passes for fest and mixed in some late night shows the other nights .

Different strokes for different folks, but I totally understand.

They also clearly referenced Launchy's insights with both LCD and Arcade Fire (without actually referencing the source, of course). CoS is a joke.
Right, because Launchpad was the only person in the entire world who had that info.
I completely agree with CoS that Chvrches is boring as fuck at this point, to be fair.
Not sure what the appeal was to begin with.
This is what it is more for me. CoS is a little off in that it's not really a bad booking because they're a popular band and haven't played Gov Ball before. I just find them to be a boring band.
When does this usually sell out? Or does it even reach that point? I figured it would be an instant sell out like Lolla considering the metro size, but I guess people have better/more things to do and can catch most of these acts at other points in the year?
theres plenty of reasons but all of these artists (except a handful) playing NYC the last 24 months I'm sure has something to do with it. If LCD was on the lineup, tickets would be going much faster. Plus, lots of people in NYC will travel for festivals since three airport hubs makes it pretty reasonable to get most places.

Just booked a spot a couple blocks from the Brooklyn Bowl. Any reasons not to stick with this booking? I figure it'll be a whole lot more difficult finding anything on Airbnb in a couple months.

You are fine. The part of Brooklyn you will be in is outside Manhattan and Queens in just outside Manhattan as well.

Appreciate it. This will be my first Gov. Ball, so I'm looking forward to it. I managed to snag a tree house loft (the rope swing sold it for me). I understand for New Yorkers who have every band in existence come through it might be more of the same, but for someone from Connecticut that has to leave the state for just about any concert worth going to this is pure music bliss.
It'd be difficult to top a LCD Soundsystem or Arcade Fire booking, but this is an incredibly deep lineup with very little filler. Far too often festivals splurge on a major headliner, which leaves some major gaps in the lineup. With the exception of Kanye, this is a lineup that steers clear of catering to the masses for the most part, which doesn't happen often with festivals nowadays.

Plus their festival outlook is completely unnavigable if you are trying to find a festival by date or which fests a particular band is playing
CoS took from Inforoo before CoS was seen as a legitimate music industry source. We helped make them. Granted....they took from other areas and eventually developed their own contacts but they have always known the value of internet message boards as being the first (direct) sources of info/rumors.
The real bullshit is they do those "This article is 5 pages long so we can increase the amounts of clicks/ad-views" pieces when you really just want a bit of info.

Now that the lineup's out, I'll spend the coming months speculating what acts will play opposite our headliners, and which acts will get after parties.
I'm gonna guess that Robyn, Chet Faker and Jaime xx get the Honda closing spots.

Kind of like bleacher report "slideshows"
I mean....it's a pretty standard thing these days. Any website that makes you "click to the next section" for articles is just figuring out that you can get more ad-views by doing it that method. Instead of one page for a full article you get 5 pages and therefore 5 more clicks/ad-views. It's annoying but it's the way that websites and especially the ones who run on ads move forward. CoS is looking to make money and that's fine. That's like a majority of sites. I still don't like it and when I come across those sites I tend to add them to my "stop visiting" pile.
