The festival is 3 days, but it does not appear there are any 3 day passes for sale, only day tickets. Tickets for Friday and Sunday are already on sale, they are $99. Tickets for Saturday go on sale 6/26, and I'm assuming it will be for $99 as well.
The website advertises staggered set times with no overlapping performances.

I really want to make Saturday with Tool and Primus work. I just put in the request for time off. There's no one scheduled with those dates off yet, so cross your fingers, I should be good to go.
I'm going to go ahead and buy my ticket this Friday when they go on sale, but wait on buying my plane ticket til I get the official word from work.

It says gates open at 3pm on Saturday. I definitely plan on scheduling my flight to arrive early enough that I'll be there when the gates open. I plan on locking myself to the rail at the East Stage, and enjoying another front row performance from Tool. And Primus will be a kick ass bonus

How do you hold it for that long? Do you pee in a bottle or something since you get the barricade as a shield? If I want to be up front I don't drink any alcohol and I'll drink minimal water.
During a club show at Jazzfest I went about 5 hrs on the rail, but I don't know if I'd be able to pull that off with the craziness of Primus and Tool going down around me.
I wouldn't really be drinking beer, only water. More then likely, there will be a few other people doing the same thing as me. During that time, we'll get to talking, and then we can keep the others space if someone needs to go to the bathroom or something. At least until it gets crowded later at night. Then I would make one last bathroom break and just hold it the rest of the time.
I'll probably bring along some of these as a last a resort. Never used them, but think I've seen them recommended here before.
But I can usually hold it for a long time without issue, if I'm not drinking.

According to this link, the Tempe Beach Park has a capacity of 5000. So not that large at all. Wikipedia cites 5k as well. With that number, I'm for sure buying my ticket Friday afternoon.

How can there only by 5000 tix for a fucking Tool concert on Halloween? That seems impossible. If that is the case though you guys are in for a trick and or treat.
I'm looking at flights now... It kinda blows me away that it's just as much for me to fly from Austin to Phoenix as it is for me to fly from Austin to Richmond, VA.
So it's $99/day? That kinda blows. I'd have loved to see Santana, Tedeschi Trucks and Deftones, but no way I'm paying $300. Is this the first year for this fest? I wonder if they'll do 3-day passes...
Anyways, I'm pretty much in. Rothric, if snowman's doesn't work out I'd split a room with you. And snow, if you don't have room for me (it's ok... ) I'm looking to split something with someone. Any hotel recommendations in the area? Preferably in walking distance.

Though I have no idea what Tempe's Halloween/social scene is like. I could be wrong, it could be totally lame. If not I'd extend my trip out a day to hang out on Sunday.

There are a million hotels in the area and even more along the new lightrail line that stops near the park. I rarely stay overnight in Phoenix or Tempe but when I do I wait until the last minute and use priceline express deals for some really great deals. I'm not sure if that show or Halloween will fill up the hotels though.
I'm sure Tempe has a good Halloween scene if you are into Frat Halloween parties. Tempe = Arizona State

Yea, I'm not doing $99/day either for the other days, but I am also buying my ticket Friday. Flights right now are at $300/RT, hoping that goes down some...
I just looked, and it'd be the same price (as of now) to fly out on Friday instead of Saturday. I think I may do that. I know I won't classes on Fridays, so that'd work out perfectly for me. Still holding off on buying a plane ticket though, I'm just thinking out loud here.

right by tempe beach park is Mill Avenue, which is a giant stretch of mostly bars in downtown Tempe. It is always hopping on Halloween, I've spent a couple years down there hanging out in the past. Tempe Beach park is right at the north end of it, so easily walkable. Despite the reputation, Tempe isn't just frat parties. honestly I thought there was a much larger and obnoxious greek presence at UT than anything here at ASU.
I don't see why Rothric and Monie I can't find room for ya'll. the biggest thing for me is really gonna be that I will be trick or treating for a bit with the roommate in the early evening. and convicing the other roommate to let some internet people crash in the guest room.
