i won't speak for the objective quality of the song, but i know when i listen to Facts it makes me feel like i'm screaming and breaking glass bottles on a brick wall and everything around me is on fire. ergo, i listen to the song frequently.
I DONE TALKED A LOTTA SHIT BUT I JUST DID THE NUMBERS
Frank Ocean fans need to chill the fuck out. Three years without an album ain't shit.
Four ain't either, btw
But working on an album for as long as he's been working on it is, to me, a bad sign. There's definitely danger in an artist overworking a song or album and fact that he's been tweaking it for over a year now worries me. Unless he just trashed an album and started a new one.
It could just as easily be the album of the year. I'm just getting a little tired of the games. Surprise releases work when people either have no idea what's coming, or when everything plays out in a relatively short timespan. I get that he wants to remain a little mysterious and private, but when it's widely reported that his album IS coming out on a certain day, he should say something if he knows it's not.
I just don't give a shit anymore until the album is actually released. I've been telling myself to not get my hopes up for months and it worked fine. That stupid NYT article and the bizarre woodworking stream reluctantly dragged me back into excitement. And it got me nowhere.
So until the headline is "Boys Don't Cry Out Now," I'm done. See you guys eventually.
