I'm good with random. Wish Hangout would get back to that. I met Michael McDonald at the drive up tiki bar/grill on the lake here. Michael, me, my son, and waitress who had no clue who he was...lol. He autographed her arm I think. I like this joint venture with Robben Ford...
No beachdude , only thing pumping Hangout this week is krisplettuce and a boatload of college girls I know. It would not surprise me if we have seen THE lineup. But hey, maybe I'll be able to locate a cheap ticket, cheap parking, and be partying in the sand with you yutes down on the beach in Gulf Shores come May.

Still have no idea how Migos is going to play the Pre-Party and then make it to NJ for the undercard of the Future show. Cutting it real close even by private jet
Little nostalgia post... A guy reached out to me that I went to college with because his bro is getting married and having his bach party at Hangout next year. He wanted me to fill him in on the area, the condos to pick, when to book, all that shit. I sent him some pics of the condo we stayed in at the San Carlos that squeezed 14 guys in. I was overcome with fomo for this year. This fest seriously is fuckin awesome. Not much more needs to be said about the lineup as we've all voiced our opinions, but I love walking on that boardwalk, listenin to music, drinkin on the beach till 3 am and sleeping inside with the breeze off the gulf blowing through the whole condo. Hopefully 2018 works out.
Yep. Driving down, stopping in the seafood shop for fresh tuna dip and a bottle of wine, unpacking and getting on the beach for first sunset, meeting up with friends, guitar by the pool, waking up to a sound check, margaritas and cold beer on the beach, music walking from place to place, those crazy painted up folks with glasses you can't see thru, the passed out quacker getting first aid from some little hippie girl, the one or two new artists that blow your mind, and on and on. Ditto about the lineup, but hey, I love Hangout. The sixth Saturday after tomorrow and I'm pointing the pony southbound 1-65....can't wait.
2024: The Floozies, Phyphr, Disco Biscuits, Cimafunk, WSMFP, The Killers, Cory Wong, Dumpstaphunk, Bomba Estereo, Molly & Golden Hwy, Big Freedia, Payton/Nth Power, A.P&TFN
Somebody put on Uptight at Holy Ground the other night. I remember my older cousins used to watch all the Frankie and Annette movies when we were little. He was usually on at the end to sing a last song.

I tried to scan tour dates and most bands playing Hangout this year are open. There were a few nuggets. I'm guessing Mumford Main/DJ Snake Surf Friday 19th, 21 Pilots Main/Major Lazer Surf Saturday 20th, and Frank Ocean Main/Chance Surf Sunday 21st. Weezer warming up for Mumford would be good for me.
Band of Horses plays NOLA the 19th and El Paso the 23rd Chance the Rapper looks like 21st Franz Ferdinand plays Nashville 23rd Marshmello in Vegas 19th and lists Hangout 21st Sigour Ros in NOLA the 21st The Head the Heart in Orlando the 19th and lists Hangout 20-21 The Strumbellas list Hangout the 19th Warpaint has Hangout the 19th and Illinois the 20th

I might get shit for this, but I want to point out that despite this festival having a pretty decent lineup and is one of the very few where you can swim in the ocean between sets, its still located in one of the most regressive states in the US in terms of civil rights and social freedom. If you are someone who highly values these things, you should speak with your dollars and not attend Hangout. If Roo hadn't pulled some (comparatively) less than stellar lineups the last two years this would also be a big concern since its located in Tennessee, which is slightly less regressive than Alabama (not counting Nashville and Knoxville proper).
tl;dr Don't financially support any Alabama-based fest because the state policy is hella regressive.

By my count, 54 days til pre-party. This will go random, but here is my 2017 performer/clip to start this off. If you are up before me and want to post a daily clip, please do. Try to keep the count going. I need some beach bad.

Sorry but this is the only place I can catch Frank Ocean by the ocean. Gonna have to sell out my beliefs for that one
Here is a 2015 AL.com article on parking and traffic. Is this still legit? Any insight on parking would be appreciated. I'm going down early and will try to make a deal with someone close for parking. My experience is everyone is passed out from about 3 am til 10 am. I could go just about anywhere in Gulf Shores/vicinity without a traffic problem. Planning to get out early and park and then play it by ear on getting back home.

Completely avoiding and ignoring the state isn't a good option either. Go to Bama and be liberal as fuck.
Also, wasn't it AEG or GV CEO that was "exposed to having homophobic idealogy or something? Might as well avoid any shows/fest put on by them since we don't know of that is true or if Hangout and associated contractors have similar mantras.
The heck with politics for a couple weeks in May. I vote for Cuervo, tuna dip, and senoritas. I'm planning on getting so bent that it won't matter what they are playing. All good, party on.

Fair nuff. Lawd knows I've sold my soul to the Devil for less.
