I'll just put this out there once and be done with it, but I encourage everyone here to be VERY cautious if you plan on bringing any sort of illicit substance to this festival. Baldwin County law enforcement uses this event as a huge revenue generating opportunity and goes all out with entry searches and undercover presence within the festival grounds. I'd wager they put Coffee County to shame with the intensity they go about this. This is Alabama we are talking about, almost certainly one of the most backwater states in the country. Once you are in their legal web expect to be stuck in it for a good long while.
Disclaimer: I was caught up in this web last year and I fully admit to my wrongdoing. That being said, even the most intense airport screening I've encountered pales in comparison to the security you have to endure entering Hangout. Even if you are going in clean, one can admit they go overboard with the searches and LEO presence inside. Personally I will never set foot in the state of Alabama again unless legally obligated.

Agreed. Luckily it is easy to hide Meth in your anus so I've got off scot-free.
Not sure what to make of the crazy exchange in the other thread today but I just wanna say Beachbob helped my clueless ass have a great Hangout Fest in '15. Plus he organized some meet n greets, raised cash for a fest ticket for a guy he hadn't even met, and was generous with his food, beer, and truck. Crucify me if you must--there was some kinda crazy shit said today by Beachbob while he was under attack that admittedly would be hard to defend--but I'm still not giving up my team Beachbob member card just yet. Hope to cross paths with Bob (and many of you) at Roo next week.
Having met and partied with Bob. I can confirm all of this. Same person in real life. Hell of a guy.
No hate for Bob. He is a character who I am often amused by and sometimes agree with. /pour one out for your boy..
^ before I read that thread.
tronik,
I understand completely. But I think you just got unlucky. Most of the searches, unless you got singled out as I did 2x in 2012, were minimal. It was when they brought Fess in for 2015 that it got intrusive. Interestingly enough, Fess did Deluna in 2012 and was hands off all the way. I guess with Buku and Hangout, they probably have marching orders. Having said that, anyone's chance of being arrested at Hangout is pretty slim. You figure 30-50 arrests is a percent of a percent. I'm not sure how many there were this year, but it's not many. Horror stories were the early years with swat command moving in on the crowd. We never really had any issues inside except the dogs in 12 and 13. I wasn't worried anyway but that was a bit sketchy. 14 and 15 I found the cops more chill than 12/13. Pretty Lights, Mimosa, Wiz etc. it was always a party. That's in contrast to Slighly Stoopid fearing for their lives in 2013. Hahaha. Anyway, I otherwise agree that the are generally frowns on them thar Rock and Rollers.
Ouch. What a clusterfuck. It looked like the first post wasn't him or didn't seem to be. But as it went on, some familiar Bob work showed up. He was mad at a teh ghey joke ( and btw why are so many white people mad????) and hated on gheys and Vieux Careen. Wtf? Complete fail there. Ban or suicide deserved. Molly Hatchet, CDB ( say day bay ) and Toby Kaith ain't gonna mind though.
Hopefully the good deeds I've done on this forum will protect my good name when I eventually am banned for almost being turned gay by other posters' jokes.

Can confirm. He's a great guy. We partied with him after the fest last year, just drinking and playing guitar. He's a good man with a big heart.

But you are white, southern and a lady. That would be hard for him to hate.

A good man with a big heart who is terrified of teh gheys and thinks that the Grammy awards only feature hip hop in order to pander to "special interests."
His odd musical tastes have been common knowledge for years. I hate how he went off because of a silly joke.

I am a white, southern lady. My point was he has some redeeming qualities. Last year, he arranged for us to get a wristband for Zen (who ultimately didn't need it) and organized a meetup. He is a very chill person IRL.
I think the constant picking from inforoosters finally brought this to a head and he snapped. It was clear from my read of the thread that he was on a tirade, not even understanding who he was lashing out at. Vieux wouldn't hurt a fly and he was after her, too. I hope everyone can put away their hurt feelings and be nice at Roo next weekend.
Whereispassionpit "I'm so quacking sick of the Grammy's snubbing black performers" That has to be the most factually inaccurate comment I have read on Inforoo in a long time. First, go look at the 80 awards and categories. "Black performers" don't participate in most of those. Second, The Grammy's and others are selling out to the pressure of the black community by pushing LL Cool J, and a lot of hip hop and rap performers into a three hour show just to pander to the black community. I thought the Grammy folks and other awards do a great job of balancing the shows given all the special interests. IMO, Alabama Shakes is R&B or Blues but not "rock". Sorry you are so "quacking sick", but definitely believe you are wrong.
Alabama Shakes isn't rock - LMAO! This is what I'm talking about.

It's more the "Grammy awards are pandering to the black community by pushing LL Cool J and hip hop music" thing.
Right-wingers (sorry surfbumbj) always have some hatred for "them." jabco taught me that a few years ago. I never even thought about it. But why can't "they" turn the music down. Why can't "they" keep their affection to themselves. Why can't "they" build factories in their own countries. Why can't "they" etc.

Okay, I went back and reread the 46k thread. I missed some disturbing stuff the first time I read it on mobile. Don't understand what happened there... because I stand by my comments about his behavior in 2015. Super sad, disappointed panda.
Skrewdriver, random 80s Orlando skinhead bands, Brutal Attack, H8Machine, Johnny Rebel, White Fist, Toby Keith, Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels Band confirmed.

Geez...I'm going to have to check out the old thread when I get home to see what you guys are talking about. Sounds like Bob had a meltdown.

It was in the What Stage forum under "46k tickets sold"
Let's all just remember the good times we've shared.

Wow. That didn't seem like the Bob I know, but at Bob's and my age, dementia is always just around the corner. We can snap at any moment. Just warning you guys...
RIp BeachBob Agree with krisplettuce Thats what breaking the streak to Hangout does to someone....
Seems pretty basic. Just 4 stages. If I were going: Friday: London Souls > Bully > Bob Moses > OMAM > Beck > Bloc Party > Strokes Saturday: Misterwives > De La Soul > Haim > Miike Snow > M83 (Killers vs M83 is a fail) Sunday: Day Wave > Cold War Kids/Vince Staples > Eagles > Chvches > Courtney Barnett > Gary Clark Jr / Two Door Cinema > Kanye West

It's live streaming if you really want to see a bunch of that. Today's stream lineup is mostly weak but that's just me.
