I like old school rhythm and blues like Buddy Guy, The Isley Brothers, Al Green, and Patti LaBelle. I guess that is why I like Tedeschi Trucks Band. Love to hear some of the new and younger performers pick up on the old style. Awesome to dance to and get close to your lady. Not offensive, just fun. Also big Jazz fan. I wore out Grover Washington Jr "Mister Magic" and George Benson "Masquerade". I have never been to Jazz Fest. Need to put that on my bucket list. Definitely considering Beale Street in May in lieu of Hangout 2017. I'm sure folks going to Hangout will have a great time, but the gap between what I listen to now and what they are putting in the lineup is just too different. And there is NO classic rock, and limited folk/americana/country. The only songs I know from a performer at Hangout 2017 is on a Mumford and Sons album.

Yo Beachbob. Stevie Nicks will be in Memphis (who run it?) in March. That's as close as she's coming to you. Pretenders open here. Not sure about there.

Hey Esteban what's some good mute math to get into. Liked monument but haven't really listen to much else it was prolly just the most listened to on Spotify lol

I'm not really sure. I've seen them twice live, but I haven't really ever listened to them otherwise. cmack and ne (as per ne's post above this one) are probably the people on here that know them the most. The live sets are musically good, and the musicians are pretty entertaining and will do antics while playing. I know a couple of songs, but that's about the extent of what I know about 'em.

We are supposed to close on the house on December 14th. I am still banning ticketmaster, so I am going to have to try to get some second-hand tickets closer to the show.
Memphis is a long way for less than Beale street. I should have gone to Stevie in Nashville. There are so many good shows in Nashville I gotta pick and choose. I'm looking hard at the New Years Eve FREE Jack Daniels party. My son and I can uber to it and crash at his place afterwards. Keith Urban, A Thousand Horses, Styx, Moon Taxi, and Charlie Worsham and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Plus biggest fireworks show in the south. www.visitmusiccity.com/newyearseve

I'm all about MM. I'll just drop a few songs I like off each album to checkout because it is too hard to compile a list: Self Titled: Typical, Chaos, Stare at the Sun > Obselete, Stallout, Reset Armistice: Clipping, No Response, Electrify, Armistice
Odd Soul: Pyrtania, Blood Pressure, All or Nothing, Sun Ray
Vitals: Joy Rides, Monument, Vitals, Bulletproof
Live shows are very entertaining with lots of jumping, switching of instruments, Paul Meany stage diving and jumping in the crowd (slightly toned down since theyre now in their 40s).
My 2nd favorite moment this year is seeing Paul Meany bring out his daughter to rock out on a lil pink guitar @ Voodoo. This was in honor of his late grandfather who graced the stage with him at their first Voodoo appearance 10 years ago.

It's all good. I do like them. I walked into them blind at Jazz Fest a few years ago, and I liked the set. Then we saw them at Voodoo this year, and again, I liked the set. I just don't know that much about them except what I've read about their history.

I walked up on them blind late night at bonnaroo '07. Great show and lights. I bought whatever album was out at the time after that and i didn't like it as much as the show. I've always wanted to see them again though.
Honestly, I would rather see Mutemath than anyone on the 2017 Hangout lineup except maybe Mumford and Sons. Swap Mutemath, MMJ, OCMS, and TTB for anybody but Mumford, Sigur Ros, Weezer, Head and Heart, and Band of Horses on the lineup and I would have made the trip. That lineup would have just barely crossed the line of acceptable. Add Doobie Brothers....jumping up to 2nd-3rd best lineup.

You should check out Rainbow Kitten Surprise. That won't change your mind about coming, but I think you would like them.

So fun game to pass the time. Give us your top 5 on the lineup as it currently is. You're most hated act. 1 addition you hope to see added to the weekend. And 3 you'd like to see at the preparty.
my sister saw Rainbow Kitty last night and sent me a video of Cocain Jesus, sounded pretty good. She said they were even better live and played more like a jam band.

My top 5: Chance, Mutemath, Franz Ferdinand, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Mumford
Most Hated: Torey Lanez. My choice bcuz i saw him live over the summer at MIA and it was god awful. Not a lot I hate on this but mostly just dont care about or know.
One (realistic) addition: Chromeo
Pre-party: The Social Animals, Pusha-T, Nothing But Thieves
