Need everyone's help..... I love Bonnaroo of course like most of you. If I can attend this year it will be my 5th year in a row. I am 21 by the way. Here's the problem though my girlfriend of 1 year. I introduced her to Bonnaroo last year and she loved it. Before we went she thought she was going to hate the hot weather and not like many of the bands playing. She didn't know how great Bonnaroo though. So she now knows my love for Bonnaroo and how great it is. She said it was the best time of her entire life and she never wants to miss another one. Well the problem is her brother (which I'm not very close with) wedding is on the 3rd day of Bonnaroo in Charleston,SC. I would really much rather go to Bonnaroo. Any suggestions guys on how to work this out?? Anytime I bring up the idea of going she tells me to not even bring it up cause it depresses her missing it. Thanks everyone!

Sorry, dude, it looks like you're taking a year off. Or breaking up with your girlfriend. There are some family events that aren't optional and an immediate family member's wedding is one.
I know I know... Boring wedding or Bonnaroo? That's the bad part. I'm obligated to go because it is my girlfriends brother but it is really gonna blow... I'm expecting a great lineup too this year.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

You shoul break up with her and don't go to Bonnaroo either. Save the money you would have spent on your girlfriend and buy some 10 year savings bonds. Then when you are 31 you can do VIP for Roo 2025.
If she will not even talk to you about it... that would give me a relationship red flag. Communication is the key to a healthy relationship. You can't run from things just because they might upset you.
You could Bonnaroo half the weekend and do the wedding, though.

Thanks for a good answer. I have brought that up before she just doesn't wanna talk about it right now. I understand her side though. She is very upset she can't go and obviously would like for me to be with her. Im just not going to young forever. She knows bonnaroo is something I look forward to every year. Years before I met her and my first being 21! The wedding is the 11th. I would miss the best shows in my opinion. They're staying the week after the wedding though.
We are moving to El Paso, Texas from Anchorage, AK the week of Bonnaroo. My solution; drive down a week early and leave my husband with two cats, a moody teenager, and a dog for the 9 day drive. He can see me after I have had my yearly spiritual awakening. That's just my priorities though, yours may vary.
If you want to continue this relationship, go to the wedding.
. I know hard to face the truth.. Just gonna suck when I'm at a boring wedding that I don't wanna be at rather than having fun at Bonnaroo..
I once made the wrong decision and picked Bonnaroo over a friend's wedding when I was younger and more selfish. Lesser stakes than a girlfriend's brother's wedding, but I still regret it to this day.

1. Are you thinking about marrying her? 2. Did she give you the option to go without her?
If you see or consider marrying this girl, you CANNOT miss her brother's wedding, even if you 2 arent close. One day you could be family and it would always be there that you missed his wedding. If you don't see yourself marrying this girl... well, it's an obvious choice. Those people will probably be divorced in 5-10 years anyway. Go to fucking bonnaroo man!

I like these answers/questions and have one to add: 3. Is the girlfriend standing in the wedding?
