Just started listening to Chance...I started off with CB. Did I make a mistake? I've listened to it twice and really don't hear anything special, some of the features (Bieber, Future, and Wayne) are awful. Is 31 too old of an age to enjoy this? Honestly, best thing I've heard from chance is his verse on Ultralight Beams, it's miles ahead of anything on CB.
Is Acid Rap better? Only reason I haven't listened to it yet is because it's not on Spotify, can someone recommend the essential tracks off Acid Rap?
Acid Rap is better than Coloring Book in a lot of ways, in my opinion. I'd listen to Juice and Pusha Man/Paranoia (it's a double song) if you just want to pick a couple tracks. If you don't like any of those he might not be for you.

no, i just think childish's new album is better in my opinion. Chance's album has some gems (finish line, angels, no problem) but in its entirety (i've listened to it twice, maybe i'm missing something or listening to the wrong album) most of it just sounds like slow paced generic rap beats where he's just speaking into a microphone. and I loved acid rap. I think donglover is a very talented artist where he really jumped into the different end of the spectrum when it comes to music from what he used to produce and it's still great. Chance was great live when i saw him, but i think his new album is severely overrated. That being said I wouldn't mind getting chance, i would just prefer childish gambino.
Bonnaroo will probably book Chance the Rapper over childish gambino anyway

Cocoa butter kisses, good ass intro, chain smoker, favorite song to add to this list^. I'd like to see chance go and continue stuff that sounds like acid rap but i think those days are gone
all of the living members: RZA, GZA, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, and I think Cappadonna and Masta Killa both tour with them as well.
This is inaccurate. It changes literally depending on the day. If you're lucky, you get a show with RZA, GZA, Ghost, Rae, Method Man all present - but Ghost, Rae and Meth are well known for just not showing up. There was one recently (I forget where) that was basically just RZA, GZA, U-God and some tertiary Wu members.
It really depends on the location. The last show they did was at Roots Picnic in NYC and all of the members mentioned above performed; and even Redman showed up and did some of his material with Method Man.
If its a high profile gig or in a major city, chances are the ruckus will be brought.

Agreed that Ultralight Beam was Chance's best work this year.
All of Acid Rap is on YouTube and it's less than an hour so just go for it. It's a fun listen.

Right. Like I'm sure for Gov Ball they'll all be there, unless like Rae and Ghost decide that it's their semi-annual "we don't like RZA right now" week or whatever.
Ghost being mad about anything is still more entertaining than like 40% of the bands on the Gov Ball lineup though.

I still wouldn't be surprised if one important member misses Gov Ball. I've seen them at Rock the Bells in NY (no GFK) and at Roo (no Rae). If only one doesn't show I don't think it's that big of a deal, but that's one big, unhappy family to corral for a show.
Word is that Childish Gambino really won't be playing many festivals and that he's only on Gov Ball because someone else who they had lined up fell through late, so I wouldn't hold my breath for Bonnaroo.
That would make a lot of sense since he's likely shooting for the Han Solo film and whatever other projects he has lined up this year.
Honestly, I've seen Wu-Tang a few times now, and only once was it ever any good. There's just too much going on, way too much shouting over each other's lines, missed cues, etc. I actually really preferred the time I saw just Raekwon and Ghostface, which was great, or when Ghost was touring with the Rhythm Roots All-Stars a while back, which was pretty perfect.
Just to add to this, I've seen Wu in some iteration about four times now, and the best experience I had for any time I've seen a Wu-affiliated show was when Meth and Red did like 20 minutes at the hip-hop superjam.

I second all of this. That SJ with Lettuce backing was sweet.

Interlude, Juice, and Cocoa Butter Kisses
Acid rap is definitely his best work IMO, Acid rain is unbelievable, won't ever get tired of that song. Juice, Cocoa butter kisses, everybody's something, Favorite song with gambino, Nana with action, smoke again with ab-soul, and chain smoker. Definitely his best work. That mixtape is one of the few rap albums/mixtape a I can enjoy front to back. 10 Day is better than Coloring Book to me also, just not a fan of the guests on each track.

As unadventurous as this is, I'm actually still expecting worse at this point. If you ditched Ryan Adams, The Shins and Beach House Livenation would approve.

I'm pretty confident the Shins will be there. They're boring AF, but a bunch of you bozos inexplicably like them and will cherry pick their presence on the lineup as proof the fest isn't that bad and all the haterz are overreacting.

It's too perfect, honestly.
I'm no superfan, but anything with any remote amount of critical acclaim seems out of place this year.

Same goes for Ryan Adams. And Chance too, honestly. Also I think Lorde is a lock.
I've never seen the shins and I used to like them but never loved them. I would see them barring conflict. I think Ryan Adams is fantastic

I can accept The Shins, Ryan Adams, Chance, and Lorde on the top lines.

Agreed. Even though I like all of them (could take or leave the Shins) none of them will make the Roo lineup anything special and none are a real sign of any sort of come back for Bonnaroo
