He says they can't afford to spend 4 to 5 million pounds on an act right after saying Fleetwood wanted too much money.
Exactly. That's Guns n Roses reunion money. There's no way they actually asked for that. He's just working the press with 2 truths and a lie like he always does. Couple months ago he was hinting at a Radiohead surprise set.
That's possible, but I could see Fleetwood asking for something in that range.
Chance seems to be a bigger figure and personality in the greater music world. I don't follow much hip-hop news, and I'm a Chance fan so I'm a little biased, but to me Future seems like he's got hits, but is otherwise just kind of around, while Chance is a more formidable presence. And Chance seems to be the more raved about live show. So I think a lot of people would prefer him to Future. Could be wrong though.
Future had three albums debut at #1 in less than a year. DS2 and What A Time are both certified platinum. Coloring Book, easily Chance's biggest release, peaked at #8 on the Hot 200. There's not really a clean way to measure the two artists because of the way Chance has released most of his music but any way you look at it Future is a much bigger star.
For what it's worth I like Chance's music better but I think this board sleeps on just how popular Future is.
My point is more about the nature of their celebrity, which also plays a big part in answering the original question. Chance seems to be the bigger public figure. I just don't hear nearly as much about Future as I do about Chance. To me, Chance's fan base is a lot more excited about him than Future's are about him. Future still sells better, but in terms of which name would make more people happy, I think Chance gives Future a definite run for his money
He's also billed behind Kygo and Empire of the Sun at the Meadows (assuming he eventually ends up where that crossed out name is).
Let's hope Pretty Lights isn't on the lineup at all next year. It's bad enough that they keep returning to the Skrillex/Bassnectar/PL well, but even worse now that no one gives a shit about Pretty Lights anymore.
You're right. Hopefully they book the Chainsmokers again.

chainsmokers are bad but they're at least relevant.

Granted you live in Lakeland, so it'd be impossible to see almost any artist anyway.
Out of all the acts you want that are touring actively in America, over half of them either played Florida over the past two years or will be playing FL this year.
Oh trust me, I know. I've spent large sums of money seeing as many of them as possible. But, I rely on the fests for the acts that are more rare and don't come down here (I'm looking at you, Sigur Rós!) I may get to see .Paak at Hula if the schedule justifies a day ticket, seen Modest. Mouse twice already so I don't wanna pay for em again (plus I don't like Brand New), Fleet Foxes have been dormant, Grimes hasn't come down, EITS hasn't been down here, I'm pretty sure Skepta hasn't been down here.
Mind you, if you're including acts that have played Miami then I "had a chance" to many more of the acts than otherwise speaking. But, Miami is at least four hours from me, so that's not a very viable option to just be running back and forth for shows.
I saw Grimes in Tampa at the Orpheum, it was 2012 im thinking
I would prefer a Pretty Lights set full of terrible mixing and an incoherent Derek over The Chainsmokers
purely musically i'm inclined to agree. having said that I don't know what is really going on with Derek other than internet rumors, but I hate seeing somebody who appears to be visibly intoxicated on opiates trying to perform. it is a frightening and very sad experience.
again i don't know whats going on with him, but i believe he is a talented producer who really created a distinct brand and sound for himself, and if he has a health issue i'd urge him to take care of that before he works any more.

Yeah, I kinda forgot that Eavis is always blowing smoke up everyone's ass. He teases at least one or two headliners every year that don't end up on the lineup. Besides, I can't imagine Isle of Wight spent that much money on Fleetwood Mac in 2015. Either way, I think the real reason Fleetwood Mac turned down Glastonbury (if that's what actually happened) is that they had no plans to tour in 2016. They just wrapped up a grueling world tour featuring the Rumours lineup for the first time in nearly 20 years. Factoring in their age, they're probably not in a position where they feel comfortable doing a one-off show at the biggest festival in the world.

Also, why are we having a debate over whether or not an act that can't function due to drug issues is preferable to an act that embodies the worst musical elements of the modern-day EDM craze? Let's talk about something less depressing. Like Justice or Eric Prydz.
Disclosure is going to be our highest billed electronic act so why are you guys arguing?
I'd be fine with that, but everyone thought they were a shoe-in for this year. Yet they ended up playing that festival they curated with Rudimental in the UK again. If they change the dates of Wild Life, then sure, they would be one of the more plausible choices for top electronic act.

You are right.
And Prydz at Roo would be one of those artists that would almost force me to buy a ticket, even if the headliners are weak.
I'd also personally be thrilled with AvB though I know he is a polarizing DJ around here. His opening track at Ultra this year makes me want to tear all my skin off and join the circus.

I'm on this boat too, but at this point I'm terrified they'd put him on during the day or something.

Yes, on a totally different tour, long before the new album. I want to see her now. Besides, I was in Gainesville at that time. I'm extremely jealous, seeing her in a venue that small is like a wet dream
