Fellow Roovians..... I've been to The Farm the past two years (2016 will be my 3rd Bonnaroo), and have so far been unable to find a flagpole that meets the required specifications. I went in blind with a homemade pole made of PVC pipe my first year (which wasn't allowed into Centeroo) and couldn't find one before I went last year. I've seen collapsible flagpoles all around Roo, so do you guys have any suggestions on where I might find a flagpole? Any nudges in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I use a telescoping pool cleaning pole for my campsite flag. Just zip tie your flag to the pole, plant it in the ground, secure it to your shade tent and raise it up. I think mine was like $30 at a pool supply place near my house but you can get them anywhere. It's sturdy, cheap and easy to transport.
Flags inside Centeroo make me irrationally mad. A stupid fucking Colorado one blocked my view for a little bit of the skrillex superjam until I moved. I have the same sentiments towards bigger totems. I think it was during Houndmouth or Tove Lo last year that people kept throwing beach balls that were in the crowd at a cardboard cutout of someone until the person holding it up put it down and had to stand next to it the rest of the concert.

I do like some of the more creative totems. That being said, if you're bringing a flag or totem into Centeroo, don't go all the way up front and wave that shit around right in front of the stage. Totems and flags can sometimes be cool, but keep that shit towards the back or sides of the crowd.

I didn't want to make a new thread since this one is pretty close to the subject matter of what I wanted to post. I'm making a totem this year and I wanted to see if you guys thought the materials I used would be acceptable to get into centeroo. I'm making a totem of Dat Boi (oh shit waddup) and it's basically just a 40" picture of him that I will be affixing to a pole. The entrance rules for totems is slightly vague. I'll post it here just for reference:
Totems (Must be no taller than 6 feet, and no thicker than 1/2 inch. Must be made of light material: swim noodles, foam type material, cardboard tubes, fabric, paint, string, yarn, light plastic, balloons and/or blow up items. Totems made of wood, metal and/or PVC material will NOT be allowed. This includes flag poles and heavy sticks.)
I realize entry isn't an exact science and some of the staff give more leeway than others. Anyway, I want to use a foam pool noodle for the pole, obviously that is too flimsy to hold up any sort of sign, so I was going to slide a 5' piece of pvc inside the foam pool noodle to give it some support. Surely the soft outer noodle would alleviate concerns of hurting someone, right? I know it says no pvc, but the pvc tube in question here is maybe half an inch wide and extremely light. And like I said, it will be encased in a pool noodle. Think this will be kosher or should I just get some sort of thin wooden dowel to fix the sign to. Anyone have experiences related to this? Pic below for reference.

TL;DR Fuck flags and totems
For someone that considers themselves a Bonnaroovian, you sound like a real asshole.

Why does not wanting their view blocked make them an asshole? I am all for flags or totems to help your group find you inside centeroo but put that shit down during shows. Your friends don't need to be pushing their way up to you after the music starts anyway.

It doesn't matter if you're generally the nicest person in the world, if you pay $400 to go to a festival and had someone holding a flag in front of your face during your number 1 show, you'd be pissed too. I personally don't get as much enjoyment out of someone holding up a sign with Mel Gibson on it than I would if I had a clearer view of the show I actually went there to see.

Idk this board just seems pretty hostile and I don't get it cause Bonnaroo.

I don't understand why people think this board is hostile... I really don't. I remember when I was a new poster the dumpster fire thread (aka headliner thread) was a place full of argumentative banter and quips and battles of wit, but I never viewed it as hostile. Same with the above comment, he's stating his opinion on oversized totems being annoying as fuck. I don't think that's hostile.
Just because you attend a music festival doesn't mean you can't get annoyed or express disagreeing opinions. I really hate when people say that... Especially since the people on this board have literally been some of the best people I've ever met in my life and the last word I'd use to describe anyone on here is "hostile".
Anyways, yea... Flag at campsite use an extendable pool pole. I got mine at Walmart for no more than $25-30 and just zip tie it to your canopy. Large, tall totems are annoying and I don't know anything about bringing them inside centeroo.

Hopefully no flags/totems block your view at Ween, wouldn't that suck?!

I completely agree. Except with the last part, because I'd say flags can sometimes be cool, at football derbies. Totems are even more rarely cool, but if they are the only thing that allow your group to party hardy and still be able to find each other, so be it, go for it. Just don't hold your random-giant-shit-on-a-stick up right in front of the stage through an entire show, or anywhere up sorta close that is gonna block other people's view. I've seen some clever ones, but if you are just taking a stuffed animal, a lame flag, and some glowy shit and taping it to a stick and calling it a day, please just don't - that isn't cool and you'll look like a douchebag. Have fun, please, but don't be a douchebag.

People who block the view of an act someone wants to see are THE WORST.
I get that you want to keep your 18 member strong group able to find each other after you've rudely pushed past so many other people to get your spot. You worked hard for that spot. It's perfectly logical that you'd hoist a shitty giant sign or flag or stuffed animal that blocks the view of everyone unfortunate enough to be directly behind you so your bruhs can find you when they go off to get a brew and need to come back. Why should they be bothered to look 90 degrees right or left and see what vendor is there then look at there position relative to the stage to remember where they came from?
I'm ranting but I fugging HATE when I can't see the band because some jack ass has there totse in my line of view. I am sure I'm not alone

Nah I'd appreciate their art because it's a music and ARTS festival. If it was blocking my view I'd simply take a step to the left or right. It's not worth getting your panties in a bunch over.

Just because it's a music and arts festival doesn't mean I want the "art" to take away from my enjoyment of the music.

Christ you folks are dense. I'm glad people aren't actuallt like this on the farm.

Dicks sporting goods, extendable golf ball retriever. Works like a dream and has a nice handle grip. 15$ This thread bitching is funny. Totem are a part of the festival if you don't like it lump it. You can always move if you have a totem in front of you. I don't go around asking everyone that's taller then 5"10 to "stand behind me BC they're blocking my music enjoyment" cry less and enjoy more. Plus music is made for the ears not the eyes.
Oh and don't come to ACL it's like totem town in there.

It's funny to see ppl gripe about these totems when I'm pretty sure I'm asked 50-100 time a day at fests for photos with our totem. Or just random walkers by yelling I AM LORDE which is of course responded to with a squad Yah yah yah!
It's like mascots at an amusement park. Ppl love em.
