Just got to air bnb. Its a total shithole. Really glad the fest goes until 5am so I wont be here when the house gets broken into.
Are water bottles a no here?
The water situation is the one thing this festival has always managed to get inexcusably wrong. No bottles allowed in, $4 for an 8oz bottle, no true refill locations and only 2 water fountains on the entire festival grounds. Hopefully they fixed this issue because the lack of water access has been downright irresponsible to this point.
Day for nights was awful. What is it about esoteric music and dehydration?

I knew this would happen once Peggy got moved up - didn't make it to 5. Think we left after about an hour of Peggy Gou and missed Moscoman.
First of all, I really love this festival. It is instantly my second favorite after Roo. I've only been to Roo, Shaky Knees, NOLA Jazz Fest (hampered by massive amounts of rain in 16) , ACL, and a couple other irrelevant fests, for reference.
As much as inforoo hates this term, they have created a "vibe" / atmosphere here that does not exist at ACL or Shaky. I can just have fun walking around and appreciating where I am. Love that its all at night. The art is cool. The stages dont bleed much and each have a unique feel to them.
Crowd is ok. Would have been more complimentary of the crowd if I didn't have to experience the people waiting for Tyler while watching Beach House. Really, really bad move there imo.
Security's one mission in life was to extract my water from my bag and throw that fucking shit into the trash can. Not on iii Points watch!!!
As for the music, I went True Vine > Durante > Channel Tres > Jacques Greene (for a small bit) > Beach House > DJ Seinfeld > Tyler > JPEGmafia > Peggy Gou
Hard to compare all of these different genres, but I enjoyed life most during JPEGmafia. Didn't expect that. Honorable mentions to DJ Seinfeld, Channel Tres, then Peggy Gou.
Actually have a lil criticism of Beach House. Disclaimer: they were good. But they werent great imo because the guitar player either wasn't mixed properly or just wasn't very good. There are so many intensely memorable guitar moments on Beach House songs that just weren't really delivered live. I was expecting to orgasm at the end of PPP, Myth, Wishes, the main portion of Space Song etc... but those moments were all a bit flat.
And finally I want to comment on what I think was the greatest sponsorship activation I've ever seen. I could be off because I didn't ask for information, but I thiiink this was a sponsorship with Blu. They set up a 2-3 story high platform that people were jumping off of onto a giant inflatable. They were saying this was for cigarette smokers who were taking the pledge to quit smoking, I think. Like the plunge / leap was supposed to be symbolic. Either way, this was amazingly entertaining to watch. A totally random bonus to the festival thanks to a sponsor. Props.
Looking for a better performance out of myself tonight. Aiming to make it to the end of James Murphy at least. So damn excited for James Blake + Rae and Ghost.
Where are these hidden water fountains? This festival is great, but the keeping people hydrated thing is pretty terrible.
There should be two water fountains right next to the bathrooms where the indoor art installations are to the right of Main Frame. It’s basically your only recourse for refilling water bottles or packs.

If I was James Blake I would...

Well Wayne lives there iirc, more likely hes just hangin.
Also realized that the surprise guest is on the Door 4 stage. The map makes it look like that stage has a capacity of 24 people. I definitely didnt even see it yesterday.
Great first day. We loved the stages and the crowds were a lot of fun. Stayed until the last 30 or so of Peggy’s set. Looking to last later tonight.
Looking forward to James Murphy, SZA, mall grab tonight. James Blake on the big stage too
My Friday night MVP: the security guy who let me through with a whole plastic flask of vodka. I meekly said it was water and he made a Tisk noise and waved me through
