Nipsey did a lot of work for his community and really pushed for education on black culture and tried to further it. Everyone that knows him seems to be chiming in that he was a great dude which makes this much sadder.
Goldfinger Bond Girl, Tania Mallet died. She was 77. That is by far my favorite James Bond movie and when we did the roller girl calendar shoot, that was the movie we picked.
Not sure if anyone here knows his work but in hardcore SFF circles Gene Wolfe is as important as Tolkien. His books had a huge impact on my life.
If LOTR is the quintessential "high fantasy" series, Wolfe's "Book of the New Sun" is the quintessential alt-fantasy series. It's a bizarre mindfuck of a read and absolutely beautiful.
I can't believe this hasn't been posted, but Doris Day died yesterday.
Sometimes I just don't have anything to say about the person so I leave it up to someone else. In this case, I thought that she had passed away in the 80's.
They say these things come in threes... RIP Grumpy Cat, IM Pei, and Bob Hawke.
Bob Hawke was the Australian Prime Minister throughout the 1980s and early 1990s... though perhaps you may know him better as the world record holder for the fastest yard of beer skolled, in 11 seconds during his university days (that’s 48 ounces for you Americans).
I had to laugh at this satirical article from the Betoota Advocate captioned “Nation Mourns Last Prime Minister Who Didn’t Look Like He Hated Every Beer Handed To Him”. Vale, cobber.
