My camelback is technically taller than 10" but it is way skinner and thinner than that. I worry about lines also. I remember the year that Voodoo changed some entry shit and people were legit in line for HOURS. And what was that other festival (Fun Fun Fun?) that had line issues the same year?
I don't care about the extra security really, I just want my fucking camelback. We are going to get a locker for the weekend. Bring everything in on Friday and then do the bagless lines the rest of the fest.
Woo. Getting close. Complicating factor here is that NOLA is looking to get hit by a Tropical Storm/Cat 1 sometime Sunday morning. I figured **** it and just go to ACL and play it by ear, and if I need to jet back home Saturday evening, I'll just do it. If not, I'll just stay in Austin and continue. It's going to cramp my Saturday party plans a bit, but I can hang tough as a (mostly) sober guy if I need to.

The FFF LINES were people getting their will call wristbands that Friday. Not related to actually getting in though.
The Voodoo lines weren't for a fact. They did some change and I know tons of people that were literally waiting hours just to get in through GA. One of my friends missed the band that she was going to see and half of the headliner. I personally go when gates open or shortly after because I am OCD and have bands I want to see, plus I like to do all the vendor stuff and I want time so I don't miss anything.
I am going to go earlier than I normally would on Friday and like I said, get a locker so I can do the bagless lines.
Just walked in thru Lady Bird entrance. Security no worse and actually less than last year. No problems bringing in my camelbak backpack or sunscreen. But that was right at opening.
Pretty average festival day music wise which I'd say was a bit of a disappointment for ACL. Otoh, I had two dishes from Peli Peli, weather was great, space was wide open, people were in good moods and such to balance a weaker than expected day of music.
I got there and just sort of wandered til Mutemath who was pretty good as you'd expect. Got into Home Away hospitality tent for James Vincent McMorrow. It was okay. Next I went over to Big Wild and the sound was too low. That would be a common theme until the upper card. I split out to catch some of Vulfpeck, and again, they were okay. I'd seen them before. They are talented. No envelopes were pushed. Next was Royal Blood. I'm a fan and have seen them before. They had multiple equipment malfunctions which got annoying. I walked over to catch the last 15 minutes of Skepta, and finally shit was starting to sound good and also be loud. Next I went over to Bonobo Live. It was okay and all, but it was a let down to me. Stood waiting for Jay-Z and had to gut through 45 minutes of Martin Garrix. As much as I'm not a fan, it could have been worse as he usually is. Finally Jay-Z came out and saved the day. Cool set, good party and people were into it.

I had an excellent day. Caught half of Methyl Ethyl and half of Asleep At The Wheel to start things off. Nice tribute to Petty with I Won't Back Down by Ray Benson and crew. I hadn't seen local act Band of Heathens in awhile and they were really good. Mostly new songs, but no complaints from me. I stayed under the pavilion for Valerie June next.This was a different band than I had seen her with in the past and they impressed me. Got a chance to tell the guitarist how much I enjoyed it later that night when I spotted him in the Solange crowd. After Valerie I caught some of Hamilton Leithause. Not bad, but I was looking for something with more energy. Went to Vulfpeck and they were a fun time as usual. Next I caught Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. I really enjoyed this show, a lot. He did another Petty tribute and nailed it with American Girl. Next I caught some of Bonobo. It was good but the fest was getting packed at this point, especially noticeable at the Tito's pavilion. I headed over to wait for Solange next. She was late, but put on a terrific performance. Made it over to Jay Z right in time for the start. It was just him onstage with backing tracks, but I enjoyed it.
Going to try and head in for Ought at 11:30. If I don't make it in time for them I'll definitely be up front for Car Seat Headrest. Really looking forward to Thundercat and Angel Olsen later in the day.
Carson McHone and Missio were great starts to the day. Good sets. Andrew McMahon was ok The Lemon Twigs and Hamilton were awful. Good nap music. Big Wild was hard to get into so early in the day. Bad sound Walked by Crystal Castles and they had stockings on their heads creeping everyone out. Sounded good from the back. Shoulda stayed for their set. Royal Blood is legit! Felt bad since they stopped playing twice to fix sound/ equipment issues. Set was cut short too because of it. They rock though. Hard. Bonobo was deec for the 2 songs we heard. Foster was average. I'm a fan and they preached too much. Closed it out with a downer John Lennon song. Killed the vibe. Convinced my wife to travel to ACL to see Jay Z up close. We got 25 -30 yards from the stage. Hot Sauna. Lasted 10 songs before my old man bladder couldnt hold it anymore. My wife even called me out on it. I was a lil biddy but I couldnt take the heat/pee pain. Standing for 3 hours straight didnt help either. Hova still has it. He had this huge blow up ballon in the shape of a dog behind him. lots of lights and smoke. Kinda felt cheated on his set though. He played for 1hr 15 mins for his 1hr45min set. ended at 945 with a one song encore. Linkin park tribute was killer. Every song was good. I just wanted more.
Plan for today is less time inside- Live -> Luke Combs -> Ice Cube / Alison Wonderland -> Rufus -> Chance/silent/RHCP -> Thundercat Late night
